- The story says that a long time ago, pirates were sailing in foggy weather with their treasures,
and their ship collided against the island of Macaví.
The survivors drifted with the current on wooden boards,
and one of them was marked “Chicama.”
That's why this name was given to this beach, and that's how all visitors know it today.
Chicama is a dream for all foilers out there.

that sunset shot at the end where the rider wave and flute all line up.. so epic, really nice work and well done with interview of locals and using local flute sounds, really appreciate the time f-one is taking to produce these films and I hope to be apart of them one day
so bummed at myself for just surfing chicama when I was there.. I was traveling on a motorbike and I was couldnt find anyone to let me borrow a foil or wing, this wave is really meant for foil and wing, surfing it is fun or course but its got to be the best foil wave in the world

i've ridden longer than minute waves in point breaks in mexico and dont need a wetsuit. the water in 90 degrees. i wouldnt travel all the way to peru for this and to have to wear a full suit at the same time. no thanks

I'm curious how one stands up on the foil board to surf a wave. Must be hopping off of a boat or jet ski.
tow-in using the wing is my guess, and then drop it when you're in the wave foiling.

It's easy to paddle into waves just having them break a little is enough. The foil also helps getting into glide..

This was great, solid riding and filming/editing. Seems like your boards would benefit from a bit of extra width in the tail as both the riders had their toes on the rear rail (or not, just a thought).
we actually trying to find the right width between easy take off and rail to rail responsiveness. Seems like we are going on the right direction because it feels really good to ride these boards.

Hi, what sections of Chicama are you riding. Seems like most of the time is in the first section Malpaso. Do you get to the point winging? I think the wind must be gusty there
Hi, What size foils were you using for the tow foiling/prone foiling? And the winging thanks? Do you need alot of speed to keep with the wave and not get too much lift?
Hello, We were using a Phantom 840 and a new F-ONE sample in 750. If you want to surf that wave you need a smaller foil, otherwise you're not going fast enough to go down to the bottom.
We used 4.2 for the winging, the wind is pretty bad behind the cliff and can go from 5 to 30 knots, so it's a good idea to have a medium size wing. Have a nice day ! F-ONE

ok this looks awesome, except... how long does that board last before the foil separates and breaks off your board... and then you are stuck in chicama with 2 pieces of your foil. no?
The forces on the board-foil connection are not as high as they first appear. As long as the load is sensibly spread away from the fin boxes the boards don't seem to have any problems.

And yet somehow, the guys in this film seem to be having a great time. It's almost as if they don't care about your definition of a 'true surfer'.
