I started playing VG when I was 11 in 2011 and SPs back then to me were this mythical expensive ass bling. Seeing this makes me want to collect those old cards I loved so much back then in their highest rarity.
Talk about crazy timing! I had just started collecting Cardfight Vanguard SP’s and found out firsthand how rare these damn cards are. I fell in love with the artwork and foil effects of the cards, so I just started buying up. It wasn’t until I tried finding a 5$ SP (Black Records Israfil) and saw that it was virtually nowhere to be found. Either way I’m having fun with it, I just wish some cards weren’t so impossible to find.
I remember dabbling in VC when the game first released here in the west. I didn't get too far into it since my hobby list was already full at the time, but I remember it being very fun
I mainly play YGO but One thing that Got me into Vanguard is how cheap as fck it is, you can get into the game like, with only one structure deck and expect to win(depending if your locals is ass or not) unlike YGO which you need to bust 30$ to buy 3x structure deck to get multiple copies of a card, Vanguard trial decks for only 10$ gets you an already consistent(not optimal) deck which you can have fun with
Yeah and the cards that comes with them is sick too, theyre damn consistent and actually feels like theyre almost a complete deck(except for Dragon Empire which is pretty underwhelming) Cant wait for these Decks to come in english
Still have some cards from the first few editions, just can't part with them. Is it worth to open boxes just to sell singles? Not many are offering singles and not sure how high the demand is.
That's a modern set. Buy it if you want to play the game, not to speculate. IF this game ever gets a higher-end collectors market, it's FAR more likely it'll be the original cards from 10 years ago. Learn from the patterns we see in YuGiOh and Pokémon. (and again; this is mega risky)
Question as a filthy weeb: is this the card game that frequently collaborates with currently airing anime? I’d love to get some bling from my favorite anime’s as tokens or field centers for Yugioh, stuff like Fate, Hunter x Hunter, SnK, whatever.
As a player, this is a good time to collect Vanguard. A great wake-up call that even if your game isn't stonks, if you want old stuff it won't always be readily available. So if this is something you appreciate, you should start sooner than later. But as an investor, FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, why would you even bat an eye at Vanguard when you can invest in Yugioh with how immature the market still is? Look at old MTG/Pokemon compared to where they keep jumping every 5-10 years, and especially now: you are still early
Yeah, hunting down some of these Vanguard SPs is borderline impossible. However: I think I've been pretty clear on this channel that I'm allover YuGiOh when it comes to collecting/investing :P 90% of my Vanguard collection is just acquired over the years as a player/fan of specific cards/clans.
Ever thought of making a video that goes into detail about what constitutes a 10, 9, 8, and 7 grade in PSA, showing cards as examples of that grade? I’d be down for that information
I firmly believe that thing holding back VG is the lack of reprints and the powercreep with each new set brings with it. I quit the game during the end of G-VG. Not sure how the game is now but these two reasons were why I stopped playing VG.
It's getting a new season; overDress that's looking mega promising so far. V was imo Vanguard's lowest point and overDress seems to address a lot of the issues the game had from the company's end imo.
Depends on the IP really. Since VG (and YGO) are card game only IPs, they don't hit that big of a range of an audience. Bushiroad's other card game (Weiss Schwarz) has facebook groups become auction centers with a bunch of randos who don't even play the game suddenly starting to bid on SPs, and people buying out every sealed Weiss product they can find. Weiss is literally a game that rides off hot anime IPs. Huge bubble imo, since English Weiss has huge secondary market problems and a lack of a tournament that prevents it from even being a relevant game. I don't think this can lost term without putting the card game's health at risk.
Just for consideration, if a TCG had absolutely no collection aspect, would you still play it Solemn? Purely for the sake of the game and not collectiblity.
@@solemnyugioh No you still collect. What I mean is if it was like a digital CG where all cards are easily accessible, even free maybe. Then would you play it?

Keep in mind that just 5 years ago, Pokemon and Yugioh collectors' markets were tiny, especially for set cards. People collected prize cards unique promos but that was about it, and even then they weren't seen as serious stores of value. And the sports card market as a whole was a corpse. And crypto was seen by most people as a shady dark web market. Things have changed dramatically for those, so why not for Vanguard as well?

@@solemnyugioh I wish I was wrong... TCGs like MtG prove I am unfortunately right. As you said, Premium is important to keep the game going long term so our collections stay valid.
