Notre Dame passes an average of 196.8 yards per game... That's nothing short of beatable if you have good cover corners that can play man-to-man, which Georgia has. It's going to be very difficult to be one dimensional against Georgia. If Notre Dame wants to win, they're going to have to have a 250+ yard passing game against the Dawgs, which I believe their best passing game was against Stanford at 268 yards. Shy of that game, they didn't pass more than 243 yards in any game they played. I know you think that Georgia has issues with running QB's as so many armchair coaches have stated on social media, but there's a difference between the teams that gave Georgia a run for their money so far, and Notre Dame. So, Notre Dame has a big uphill battle coming if they are going to keep to what they do best.
Definitely think ND will need to pass the ball but I don’t think they need 250+ to win. I think a combination of the running attack between the running backs and Riley Leonard’s legs makes the difference
the issue is Leonard isn't going to need to put up 30 to win this one. ND defense will keep this game tight. Score will most likely be a 24-21 type score with a FG at the end. This Georgia team I don't think has the capability to simply roll through ND - its going to be a dog fight (ha), and I expect Leonard will have some highlights on ground and the air but defenses will generally have control of this game
If u just pretend Kirby benched Carson and put in Gunner there’s no worries. UGA has needed a mobile qb for at least 10 years. This guy is no joke no 1 duel threat qb in his class. I just worry about pre snap getting the best plays to counter the blitz could be a real problem
As an ND fan, I'd be uncomfortable if UGA got an early lead. But I'll be uncomfortable even if WE got an early lead... I've seen UGA come back on Bama when I gave them up for dead.
ND fan here. Reality is the second that our run game stalls even slightly and our D doesn't get it's usual 5 turnovers, it will be a blowout. We have no legit WRs who can get separation. Mills injury is huge. Georgia back up is still gonna be good and you can't bet against Smart in terms of coaching. If ND is able to have the run game working, then sure it can at least be a game I feel.
The Georgia teams in ‘17 and ‘19 were way stronger than the current one. Those teams won by 6 points total. Anyone who thinks ND can’t win this game is either a SEC homer or ND hater.
@@wesleyspruce1626 I 100% see ND getting that amount of rushing yards. I think if Georgia can hold them under 200, Georgia will win. What it really comes down to in my mind is the first touchdown. If ND gets the first, they can control the game how they want to, if Georgia gets the first, they'll force to Notre Dame into a response that will require the passing attack. If Notre Dame ever trails by more than 7 or even more than 3, I think Georgia will take it. With that said, go Irish.
I agree with you to a certain extent. But if Stockton is a factor early I don't think the Irish defense or anyone else's can stop what they will see in the second half. There's no better second half coaching staff or offense in the country. Not too mention whatever is working for the Irish offense in the first half will no longer work in the second half. Just my opinion
Switch game schedules and ND is playing in the music city bowl and UGA is undefeated. The statistical comparisons are irrelevent because the sample population is not equal.
I love how everything is comparing the stats... Like on paper Indiana was an amazing team, but they played so many soft teams and struggled against a ranked team. Yes, Georgia's stats don't look great but they played the toughest schedule. Georgia will win in the trenches, get the lead, extend the lead... then Notre Dame will have to throw the ball and throw some picks due to QB being pressured a lot. I think they win by 17 easily.
Don’t sleep on the Irish. After getting dominated by Louisville (stats), total yards, first downs, snaps, and time of possession, ND went on a run of beatdowns the remainder of the season.
When i saw lawson luckie make that clutch third down catch i wondered to myself, would luckie have caught that if beck had thrown that ball to him? Speaking on the juice that gunner brings

ND fan here. I won’t be bitching and moaning about the prediction I expected it. I disagree that Mills is a big a loss as Beck. Beck is a leader with a lot of big game experience. Mills is a big loss just not quite as significant. If Stockton can handle the pressure then GA will likely win. I think that is the key to the game.
I am not sure you are correct. One of the valid critiques of Beck was that he was not really a vocal, active leader in the locker room or in the huddle. The players have mentioned that Stockton is a very passionate leader who many of the players really love and support.
But does Beck really have all the “big” game experience. The only truly “big” game he played in was the SECCG against Bama last year and he lost. I could be wrong but I think Gunner gives Ga a better chance to win than Beck. The way he bulldozes into linebackers shows he isn’t scared. We will all find out soon enough though.
@ Gunner was thrown into the fire in SEC champ game but this time he has a lot of time to think about things. I know he is talented. Should be a great game.
The kid looked good against Texas. Looked like he has a strong and accurate arm. As a Notre Dame fan since Joe Theisman’s name was pronounced Thesemen my hope is extremely high; my fear is lurking ever so close. I would be way more confident if we had the 3 injured starting o lineman and 2 injured edges and of course Mills and Morrison. But I think we’ll know in the first quarter just like we did against Alabama in 2012 when Manti missed more tackles in the first 8 minutes than he missed all season combined. Go Irish
@@FacundoCampazzo123 Yawn everyone knows the SEC paid their players more than any other conference. Alabama didn’t just fall off a cliff because reasons. ND has been overcoming DL injuries all year. Botelho, Traore, Cross missed 4 games, now it is Mills. Mills is a big loss, but hopefully ND keeps overcoming.
Prime example to what you were saying, and it still stings today! Is when Alabama stuck Tua in and beat us in the championship a few years ago. I hate to even have that as a comparison but it is one! And I believe we will do the exact same thing., Go Dawgs
ND fan here. Too many injuries to beat a team of GAs caliber, hoping we just play them tough. Losing our 3 best pass rushers and best CB is too much to deal with. Good luck GA
Not a Dawgs fan or an SEC homer but I’ll take an F-150 over a Lamborghini in a back alley brawl. ND about to feel the pain of having a weak schedule and being talked up by the press.
It's a huge let down, but it's not as big as your Star QB. Why? Because we also got back Howard Cross. So it helps mitigate that. Also, nothing is worse than losing your QB at the end of the season heading into the playoffs. I'm sure Gunner and Kirby will do the best they can but it's a tough row of it.
Yes, that 98-yard run counted, but when mathematicians analyze statistics, they remove major outliers to get a more accurate value from the data. If they ran 85+ yards 4 times during that Indiana game, I wouldn't remove that run because it would no longer be an outlier.
Yes, but once the Irish had a commanding lead, they changed things up. Substituted in 2nd and 3rd level guys. In fact ND did that in the 4th quarter against MOST opponents they played all season. So the stats don't account for things like that.
I watched Gunner all through high school. He plays with a lot of spirit, guts and tenacity! He reminds me of Tim Tebow but with a much better throwing arm. I don't think it will be close! No other conference can match the level of play the SEC has. Its just the way it is! Georgia by 2 touchdowns and a field goal (17 points)!
I see those saying that getting Rubio back addresses Mills injury. But they play different styles. Rubio is more so a run defender while Mills can get to the QB. Rubio needs to show improvement here. Rubio coming back for this game helps but more so in the run game. Losing Mills hurts a lot.
Why is Josh not taking Strength of Schedule into account when he's doing the whole "Georgia is 50th in the country against the run" or whatever it was...
@@Kyleterp1 What does this have to do with the fact that they had the Nr 1 Strength of Schedule? Did you see who they played? They beat Texas twice, and they beat Clemson and Tennessee, who were both selected for the play-offs. They beat UMass 59-21 so I'm not sure what game you were watching.
Texas haven’t beat anyone with a pulse besides A&M, Tennessee was overrated all season , Clemson played a trash schedule and goat boatraced vs Louisville and Texas and barely beat SMU
I’m just hoping for a good game. I feel like at Notre Dame. We have accomplished our goals for the year which was make it into the playoffs and win a game. Notre Dame can win. I just don’t think we have the offense to beat Georgia. I respect George’s line of scrimmage too much to suggest that we can just push them off the ball and run. Though I think our defense can 0:01 keep us in the game I wouldn’t be surprised if Georgia won like 27-17
It’s not just Riley Mills half of the starting defense has been out the whole year. I don’t think Notre Dame has a chance to win it. They can keep it close. Benjamin Morris is a bigger loss than anyone same with the linebacker.
Enough of the injury excuses. Louisville limped into South Bend and dominated you with a rag tag depleted O line and other significant injuries as well.
ND doesn't throw a lot because they haven't had to. They rank 38th in pass efficiency, but in the last 3 they've ranked 24th. In comparison, GA Tech is 78th, last 3 ranked 46th.
Nobody here including Pate has actually WATCHED ND, they watch highlights and look at PFF stats, they will never get it until they see it against their own team. I guess Georgia will be on the same playing field as Purdue once ND stomps them according to this guy.

Tech ran all over ND for 168 yards
You dont have to pass the ball 50 times a game if your running backs can get over 200 a game.
If u just pretend Kirby benched Carson and put in Gunner there’s no worries. UGA has needed a mobile qb for at least 10 years. This guy is no joke no 1 duel threat qb in his class. I just worry about pre snap getting the best plays to counter the blitz could be a real problem

Can the ND dline hold up all game?? Dawgs will put them in a box and IMO ND doesn't have the WRs needed to beat GA.
Yep. I think their leading WR has just 3 TD's and less than 500 yards total on the season.

Yes, Georgia's stats don't look great but they played the toughest schedule. Georgia will win in the trenches, get the lead, extend the lead... then Notre Dame will have to throw the ball and throw some picks due to QB being pressured a lot. I think they win by 17 easily.
Agreed. The opponent you play matter and that's why the stats look the way they do. They can be misleading
Don’t sleep on the Irish. After getting dominated by Louisville (stats), total yards, first downs, snaps, and time of possession, ND went on a run of beatdowns the remainder of the season.
