Thank you ! It’s so refreshing to see a video from a genuine expert. No $1,000 rods and reels, no bullshitting for sponsors. Just pure unvarnished “FISHING”.
I waded into a Florida lake through the reeds, in early Spring, with my Dad when 11 years old and caught a fine 5 pounds or so big mouth bass. That fish is still on my wall because my Dad was the major fisherman. Got my picture in the paper and everything. We took the dog who hated water but launched himself into the reeds with us. Good boy! He grabbed that fish when I reeled it into the reeds and he didn't make a mark on that fish. That dog got a nice piece of fish and steak with his dinner that evening. Oh, he was a mixed breed Dalmation and Lab.
I loved this episode. I'm near 70 and, while fishing from a boat is one of life's greatest joys, bank fishing still brings the most happiness to that little boy inside of me. Much obliged.
The knowledge you have shared with us all has caught me multiple fish over the 40lb mark and I cannot thank you enough for your contribution to the fishing community. Not many old school folk are so willing to share secrets. I'm 24 and this is some of the stuff I'll be teaching my son has he grows up. You are a blessing and a legend.

Mr. Machine, a few words of advice, when big fish fishing like this video is showing. Please use a 10 or 12 foot long lanyard tied to the handle of your poles and then to the solid heavy anchor of your choice, this will save the loss of your equipment from being yanked or pulled into the water. This has saved my loss of many of rods and reels while bank fishing for big redfish.

Nice cat! I cut up some shad into big chunks, put them in a coffee can, then pour a couple cups of olive oil on them and one half cup of minced garlic, then let it sit in the refrigerator for a couple days. It makes some amazing catfish bait...mostly catch channel cats and blues, but they're always big. Usually 25 to 40 pounds. Caught quite a few that were in the 60 pound range too. I reckon that the garlic smell is what turns em on...but not sure.

I found you about 3 Catfish videos ago, If there's one thing I love it's a Man who knows his enemy. You Sir are a Master, I've only seen my younger brother catch Cats like that and always been amazed by it. I'm the Old Bank Fisherman. I'll sit there for hours, the peace the Sun most of the time the smell of the Water. Just don't act fast enough and miss far more than I hook. Learned a few things watching and can't wait to see more. Truly great videos so much fun.

I'm a strict bass fisherman and watching this video last night I decided I'd throw out a catfish line and sure enough I caught a 10 lb blue biggest catfish I've ever caught. Great video thanks you're awesome

Sometimes people act like your not good enough if you don't have the best equipment or the most expensive rod and reel. That $20 quantum Optix reel done just fine. I have a smaller one that has caught well over 200 bass and it's still just a smooth as the day I bought it. Thanks for showing people that you don't have to have $200 combos to have fun.
