0:28 if you don't see a personal hotspot in your settings, you don't have to contact your cellular carrier for this, you can just go into Mobile data -> mobile data & network -> scroll down to the bottom of the screen and set you personal hotspot apn, username & password. this you enable your hotspot settings. 😊

Well the problem is, how do we create a personal hotspot when not using cellular? Is there a way create a hotspot when connected to a wifi network? Because, I don't wanna share my cellular data instead I wanna share my broadband data.
On android you just turn on hotspot. Nothing to do with the carrier. This has been a deal breaker being a life long android user and trying out iphone im blown away that this basic feature from 2009 is not available on ios without your carrier allowing it.
Hi Apple. My personal hotspot password keeps updating automatically and that is preventing me to share the hotspot. That’s happening since I added my iCloud on both my iPhone 6s and iPhone 12Pro. Hotspot continues to be a bit clunky. I've had Macs since 2005 and Iphones back to back since launch, and yet the process of tethering has never really got good. I always seem to need switch off 'Allow others to join' and switch it on again at least once. Surely a fixable problem. When you compare the ease with which my earpods connect almost before I can get them in my ears. Also, why does it say 'Allow others to join?' I realise that you can allow people to connect to your hotspot, but surely most of the time it's the phone's owner connecting their laptop to their phone.
Is "allow others to join" turning on the hotspot and making it active at all times? Coming from android this is a bit confusing. On Android you "enable" the hotspot when you want to use it, and turn it off otherwise. On iPhone it seems like it's meant to always be "on." My "allow others to join" has been toggled on since i got the phone apparently - is that normal? Or should I shut that off and only enable when wanting to use it. There's no indication in the taskbar thats its "on" or "active" unless it's connected and in use, so perhaps it's meant to be on and isnt using battery unless it's actively connected to another device. What's the general consensus on this for iPhone?

Android has allowed that since the beginning of android. Literally a toggle. And its free. In fact i could do hotspot sharing with my lg env2 back in 2009

On android you just turn on hotspot. Nothing to do with the carrier.
This has been a deal breaker being a life long android user and trying out iphone im blown away that this basic feature from 2009 is not available on ios without your carrier allowing it.

My personal hotspot password keeps updating automatically and that is preventing me to share the hotspot. That’s happening since I added my iCloud on both my iPhone 6s and iPhone 12Pro.
How can I fix that. I have tried everything.
Reseting the iPhones, Reseting all the Settings, remove my iCloud and then Reseting everything, and it’s still now working.
I worried about it now, password changes every single time and is does not accept for me to change it.

Hotspot continues to be a bit clunky. I've had Macs since 2005 and Iphones back to back since launch, and yet the process of tethering has never really got good. I always seem to need switch off 'Allow others to join' and switch it on again at least once. Surely a fixable problem. When you compare the ease with which my earpods connect almost before I can get them in my ears. Also, why does it say 'Allow others to join?' I realise that you can allow people to connect to your hotspot, but surely most of the time it's the phone's owner connecting their laptop to their phone.
Is "allow others to join" turning on the hotspot and making it active at all times? Coming from android this is a bit confusing. On Android you "enable" the hotspot when you want to use it, and turn it off otherwise. On iPhone it seems like it's meant to always be "on." My "allow others to join" has been toggled on since i got the phone apparently - is that normal? Or should I shut that off and only enable when wanting to use it. There's no indication in the taskbar thats its "on" or "active" unless it's connected and in use, so perhaps it's meant to be on and isnt using battery unless it's actively connected to another device. What's the general consensus on this for iPhone?

How do I prevent my iPad (which has cellular data service) from connecting to my iPhone personal hotspot? This keeps happening automatically even though I tell my iPad to “forget” my iPhone.

I wish Apple would engineer personal hotspot so it doesn't use up your carrier-allotted hotspot data (i.e. being able to use unlimited data even on the hotspot)

Why but personal hotspot automatically turns off when connected to windows laptop
exactly. plus the data transfer speed switches from 1gbps ow to 100mbps at any given time. Its really inconsistent
it is one of the most horrible function ever. Everytime, when my computer or ipad goes sleep, I need to connect it manually again….More over, it often doesn’t appear - sometimes I have to wait over one minute to connect internet. I have a new devices (ipad air, mac mini, macbook M1) and upgraded systems…..
