The asics shoe has a much better outsole when it comes to running in wet conditions and the upper is more breathable. I’d personally go for the Fuji lite 👍 Hope this helps and thanks for watching 🙏
Thanks for another great review Loyd! I’m after some advice regarding choice of trail shoe… The main factor for me is heel drop - I’ve recently suffered some pretty crippling PF and we’ve identified a transition to a lower drop shoe in recent years to be the most likely culprit, so I’d really like to stick to 10mm and above. This is hard to come by in trail shoes! The Pegasus Trail seems to be the leading candidate based on what I can find - Is there anything else you’d suggest?
I'm not so sure? Zoom X can be a very unstable compound so it'll be interesting to see how Nike make it more stable for uneven ground. Also I'm not sure how it will hold up to the trail environment when it comes to durability? Let's hope its not just the normal Nike Hype machine and it's actually a decent shoe. Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment it's appreciated 🙏😊
@@Run4Adventure Who knows. My guess is that they'll have a much wider platform than usual to aid in stability. As far as durability...yeah, I'm with you there. I guess we'll just have to wait.

I had been wanting a pair for a while so when I saw them on sale I got a pair. Overall they feel great. I have had many different kinds of Nikes over the years and I think that the pegasus feels the best. I still want to try the Terra kiger 8 and the zoomx zegama.I saw them in blue and I really liked them.
Hey there, thank you for the review. It was well appreciated. I have one question though. I ordered regular Nike Pegasus Trail 4 (non-gtx) to use it for daily usage and regular gym trainings. I’ll also use them to run in the city. Do you think that the outsole would hold up for running on the concrete pavement/road? I have concerns regarding durability of the outsole against concrete.
Greetings! I was wondering if you had done a review on the Adidas Terrex Agravic Pro Trail Running Shoes ($220 US) or the Adidas Terrex Agravic Flow 2.0 Gortex Trail Running Shoe ($160 US)...they both look like really comfy trail shoes but obviously the 1st one is the extreme high end of cost.... I was just wondering if you had perhaps done a review of these in the past or if you would consider doing one in the future just to get your opinion of the Agravic line that Adidas makes...Thank again for your reviews and your hands on way of doing the trail reviews..
Thanks for review! I bought Nike Pegasus Trail 3 just few months ago to replace my old Hoka ATR 5. I think that Pegasus trail is great door to trail shoe that van handle different terrains guite well. Shoe is best on easy and dry trails. If I need a shoe for more difficult terrain or wet conditions, I will choose other shoes, like JV Ultra or Hoka Speedgoat
Supercomfy shoes, first run was 14 k. No blisters or anything. Had the pegasus 2 and loved them (no soft ground running), 3 was a downgrade, 4 still doesn't have all great details of the 2 (built in gaiter). The comfyness has a downside, you will feel every piece of rock, root or pointy object if you try them on more technical terrain. Its more of a road to easy trail or gravel. I feel like most shoesbrands with a toe bumper makes them too low or narrow which just gives you hurting nails.
great overview of peg trail 4.., I’m still on the fence, but it’s a move in the right direction for me.., as most trails near me, are quite buffed out. very dry around here
Which shoe is better? Nike Pegasus Trail 4, Adidas Terrex Soulstride or Asics Gel Venture 9? I am not going to run, but I need a shoe to do long hikes in dry hot weather (which my feet will sweat a lot). So he shoe needs to be comfortable, breathable, and have a good grip (since I will walk on wet rocks, which can be quite sleepery.
I haven’t run in the Solestride or the Venture so it’s impossible to say. However if you want to use the shoe on wet rocks I wouldn’t go for the Pegasus Trail 4, grip is pretty bad in the wet!!😮
Had my first run in these today. Stayed true to size which seemed ok but both heels rubbed towards the end of a nine mile run. Now have blister plasters on both. Hopefully they’ll soften up. Also have the Terra Kiger 8 which I really love.
That shouldn't happen, but it happens if the shoes are too loose or too tight, regardless of which kind of shoes you're using. So try and find a balance. Many people love the feeling of tight running shoes and they either buy smaller sizes or tie them too tight, and they get blisters or broke the shoe padding.
Did you test the pegasus trail 4 gtx? I’m deciding between these and the hoka mafata speed 4, which one would you recommend? I ran on trail tracks that involved a mix of muds, grass, rocks and wet leaves.
I'm not a fan of "waterproof" trail running shoes. I find them less breathable and if you get water inside them it can't get out! I would personally go for the Mafate Speed 4's, it's really comfortable and its got a brilliant Vibram megagrip outsole 👍 Hope this helps Bradley and thanks for watching 🙏
@@BradleyLimHon I've run in both Hoka shoes and I prefer the Mafate Speed 4's. Obviously it's a personal thing but I feel the Mafate Speed 4's are more comfy and I prefer the performance of the midsole 👍 Hope this helps Bradley 😊
Great review Loyd thank you. Will definitely pick a pair up when Nike bring out some better colourways ( my peg trail 2’s we’re best looking shoe I’ve ever had !) not bothered about outsole performance as only run less technical trails here in the new forest. 👍
I've been running in Pegasus shoes for at least 12 years and for the first time I bought a pair of these specifically for trail running and another pair to use it for everyday walking. I find that the normal Pegasus doesn't have the right structure to be used too much for walking.I mean, it's confortable, but it's a little bit wasted if you walk a lot in it. So I'll see if this one is better.
You could run sections of road in them but it is a trail running shoe. If you’re only going to be running on the road, a road shoe would be a better option 👍
Is it harmful for the lugs if we use the Peg 4 Trail for our road run trainings? I wouldn't want to melt the lugs and reduce the lifespan of the shoe if that's a case
I think certain times of the year a trail shoe will run a lot better then a road shoe even on fire roads and tow paths Andrew 👍 Especially here in the UK in a wet muddy winter! Thanks for watch and taking the time to comment it's appreciated 🙏😊
@@Run4Adventure That's true, I bought the Pegasus trail 4 after watching your review Ive just got them but I think they'll be good for a mix of road and trail.
Great review and though has already 2 years, I recently bought my first pair of Pegasus Trail 4 and when running for first time I found that they were really uncomfortable at the Achilles tendon area, leaving me in pain for several days and having to go back to other shoes I have... They are actually very similar in performance Ryan 👍 I'd say the Nike midsole is a bit softer underfoot and the inov8 outsole gives you a bit more grip in the wet. Hope this helps and thanks for watching 🙏😊
Not loving these as like another RUclips commenter I also had rubbing on heels. Toe box also a little low. They are good for their intended purpose as a gravel/ jack of all trades shoe and the react foam is excellent - it feels great on and off road but still not my go to shoe!
Living here in Denmark, we have some of the same s*** weather like you have. I really like Nike's trail shoes, fit and comfort is really good, but they are lethal in wet weather. Image any Nike trail shoe with a Inov8 outsole! Close to the perfect shoe in my opinion
I think Nike has a model called Zeagma? I don't know much about it, however I wouldn't use these Pegasus when it rains even if they had a different outsole. Besides being slippery, they are the kind of running shoe that can be easily ruined if it gets wet. I live in central Italy so it doesn't rain that much, but when it does and I still want to go out and run I use a Miler Shield (bought it because it was cheap) and it's not slippery at all. Also a classic Miler is good when it rains, and of course all the other shield and gore-tex models, but Pegasus I feel it loses its structure when it gets wet.

I agree. Except for muddy surfaces it would be pretty decent road to trail shoe. The problem is that under most dry conditions regular Pegasus performs pretty well as well. Personally, I am currently using ASICS Fuji Lite 2 as my road-to-trail shoe. It has better lug pattern than these and 4mm drop along with Flytefoam midsole provides very stable ride.
Pegasus shoes in general are not meant to get wet, because in my opinion water also make them lose their structure. There are specific models for wet weather (shield, gore-tex).
