- Both Southwest and American Airlines reported first-quarter losses Thursday. Demand for travel remains strong, including among business flyers, but airlines are dealing with higher labor costs, and delays in aircraft deliveries are limiting their ability to add more flights.

if they're not making more money they're not happy!!!
They didn't make enough for their share holders, so now all their employees have to suffer. Just like every company out there.
Maybe if they get rid of open seating I would use them again
It is nothing more than an accounting shell game. A loss of $231M equates to a $135M profit if you peek behind the curtain.
exactly, don't believe airline management CEO's and such. They LIE and pull those numbers out of their Golden Parachute Asses.
Meanwhile Alaska and Delta Airlines have done well these past few months.
SW is an all Boeing fleet.
Theyre going to take a major hit especially with the delay of Max9s
@@kammyr4082 They're not flying nor do they have orders for the Max 9
I go through ATL to IAD because I have family that lives much closer to there than BWI. So much for that 💀
00.37: Bob Jordan "We can, and will, adjust as needed, as we have in the past, and work to get (sic) our financial targets, which are not negotiable". Ummmm, a realistic target is always negotiable, perhaps you meant "unrealistic financial mandates for which management failed to properly prepare"?
Airlines getting way too big for their britches. Do not let them expand. Thank God for the pilot shortage.
There's no longer a shortage. 😢 too many first officers and. Not enough captains.
As a former 17 yr employee from Southwest believe me when i tell you that Southwest will still hire for Management & Leadership positions off the street with zero airline experience.
Southwest went woke and now going broke. They started giving an extra seat free of charge to obese people. All these people have to do is go to the gate agent, request an extra seat, get a boarding pass, and they then place it on the seat next to them. That seat is considered taken and no one can sit there. Last week, I was in the same row of a guy who was extremely fat that he couldn’t get the armrest nor the tray table down, and could barely put his seatbelt on. His family was in the row ahead of us, and they had a free seat as well. And to top it all off, this was a full flight, so there wasn’t enough room for the very last guy (who was thin, so I’m assuming he was a paying passenger), got bumped off the flight. I’m not a financial genius, but if southwest gives out 2 to 3 free tickets out per flight every day, I can see how they’ve lost millions first quarter. It’s not a coincidence.
Angry fat guy?
They need to but benches in airplanes, that would eliminate so many problems.
I wouldn’t fly SW if they gave me free tickets, too many unstable people flying it.

With greediness and going from multiple airlines to five the great reset is finally happening with companies 😁many will shutter and I’m glad taking advantage of the public
Let me guess, limit hiring to DEI only?
I mean, straight white dudes are clearly not doing a good job.

Re-Regulate the Airlines. Jimmy Carter got de-regulation wrong also. The airlines have been gaming de-regulation now since 1978.

Shity Government policies and a 50% increase for the cost of energy is the main reason All businesses are struggling. Comments criticizing a business for striving to operate at a profit is ignorantly naïve. The public always has choice to shop for products and services. Stop blaming businesses and start thinking about who and how you’re voting for, because that’s what ultimately is effecting your pocketbook.
Southwest be like, woe is me. Always some white guy bitching about money.
