When i first bought my xbox with my pocket money in the summer of 2017 the only game I purchased alongside it was battlefield 1. I loved it so fucking much, wish i could also go back to those times.
Because this player doesn’t slowly pan back to the shooting in the most rigid way possible, while moving as slow as possible, like in every gameplay trailer for every fps. Seriously, that stuff just comes off inorganic as hell.
That little moment where the player looks at the plane crashing into the tank at 0:19 just feels so real somehow, like a soldier is trying to advance and they're momentarily distracted and perturbed by the crazy shit happening only a few meters away from him before quickly regaining his focus and gets back into the battle.
As someone that played this game and still do, almost every round (especially in Operations) have moments like this, more than any other Battlefield game that came after. These aren't just rare highlights. The others might have better features for competitive play, but this, this game is the king when it comes to atmosphere.

Honestly. Though if we're being honest BFV really did improve/carry over a ton of shit that if used better could have really topped BF1. I have no idea why they decided to throw away the gritty tone for TWO GAMES IN A ROW. As if BF1 wasn't massively successful and universally praised.. I feel like because BFV wasn't the best recieved they decided that everything that game did wasn't a good idea and took 20 steps back. Like, no, that's not what we meant when we said we didn't like it. What we meant was we didn't like the dead live service, TTK changes, and tone shift. Almost all the gameplay features introduced and the graphical upgrade were REALLY damn good. They proceeded to do none of it in 2042 and pedal even harder on a disjointed tone. Not to mention most of DICE's veteran talent left and those people were seriously talented. DICE somehow chose some of the best audio and vfx guys in the business and let them all go.. for what?

They know what the series wwas praised for, if you want to go the stupid live service route they could totally have done it without half assing so much of the core. the immersion was fucking beyond in this game. it felt brutal and incredible. beautiful landscapes. and behemoths were so awesome to behold. the gunplay was fun and running around with a syringe rezzing everyone was so funny to me.
Can't beat it. I also miss these fps games being console only. I'm really not enjoying being put in lobbies for the first time where I've got to question if players are legit or not.
@@RGInquisitor Absolutely untrue. Not "like"...Just. Just the zen. The only issue. It is nothing compared to PC hacks. I'd actually be more confident against a zen controller user than a mouse and keyboard player. Most zen players don't have a clue. I never struggle being top of the leaderboard in console lobbies. Besides, the zen is becoming easy to detect now. It's almost an instant ban in games like cod nowadays.

I know the explosives spam in BF1 was ridiculous, but it helped massively to contribute to the most atmospheric & immersive large scale FPS we've ever played
It's been a thing in every BF but pretty sure it's actively encouraged in 1. I remember the last objective in Rush/Operations is just constant mortars, airstrikes and other artillery on the flag
What made BF1 legendary is also the sound design. The explosions, rifle shots, characters yelling, and the way sound travels around the map. What a wonderful game.

That isn't true at all. Large chunks of WWI weren't fought in trenches, the maps in this reflect more of the urban and not europe focused parts of the war. A lot of people seem to forget WWI wasn't just fought in a few western european countries. The maps that are focused on the trenchlines are perfect. They had to strike a balance of run and gun and accuracy and they nailed it imo.

This game is a masterpiece. I remember for the first 2 months, I wasn't even checking my score and K/D ratio, just enjoying the game, even when losing. Every fight was so intense, it was like fighting for your life. Even hiding next too loud explosions in a bunker, standing still and praying to see your family back was awesome. It's not just gunplay, it's a full immersive gameplay.
First game I ever played we were holed up at one end of a bridge, first capture, waiting for contact. Saw smokes go off across the bridge, and it got silent. The ting and wizz of a tank shell flying out the smoke at us, and then that whistle... everything became explosions, ringing, bodies and blood flying, incomprehensible screaming... something about it made me feel alive. Like the weight of real combat just dropped on my tiny teenage brain. I still get the same goosebumps when I think about it. It's the best shooter I ever played. I dread the thought of what it must really be like, if a game captures that feeling in you so well.
The looking around you at everything going on, taking a couple of shots in the general direction of enemies while running at them, while getting so lost into the immersion that you feel like you're shell shocked, is the realest thing ever.

I think overall I'd have to say 1 is my favourite BF of all time. The thing was just a masterpiece and I have to say I believe it is DICE's Magnum Opus (after they fixed that awful explosive spam, lol).
As much as I like this game i don't think you should buy it, i heard that they are gonna close the servers so the campaign as good as it is will be the only way to play the game

Shoot the enemy, stand on the objective, try not to get shot. It's pretty straightforward at the core, but every weapon, gadget and vehicle feels very different, which can make it seem more daunting.
This game is so so so so gorgeous. Everything that happens in this game just looks fucking beautiful. And this is like 7 years old at this point. Truly impressive.
the only war game i have ever felt like this might of been what it was really like. Call of duty is great for just close game combat and shooters but BF1 and even BF, operations was legit the most intense gaming I ever played... especially in the beginning when it first came out. You ran around and people are blowing up left and right, guy getting lit up but bullets, grenades... made you literally stop dead in your tracks and wait lol. The only gameplay i have ever had to give or ask for covering fire. unbelievable game.
we are but humans and not invincible superheroes without emotions, BATTLEFIELD 1 reminded us of this especially in the tutorial with names, dates of birth and death of the soldiers you play 😔
The music in my opinion was the best part of the whistle blow. The screams of the men combined with that insanely epic music. I loved BF1, the atmosphere.
One thing I hate about bf1 is that sometimes you get so focused on trying to play the objective that you won't notice when something cinematic happens.
BF1 is very cool. It’s one of the most detailed games of all time and the reason why is because the soldiers crouch when there’s explosions. It’s real life. You need deck from the explosion to cover your body. attention to details!
Man BF1 is so good! It really nails that atmosphere, and cinematic moments like this legit happen every single round. I think that’s why it’s still really active all these years later. I should really jump back in on PS4 sometime.

BF1 and Insurgency Sandstorm are the type of FPS games that would make you hate war the realistic ass sound and visual effects in both games like the strafe in insurgency and the whistles in BF1 can almost give you PTSD even if you weren't a soldier who was fighting in Afghanistan
Wow, 1943? So rare I see people mention that. I will forever miss that game and love it for it was where my pilot skills absolutely peaked. I had so much fuckin fun flying them planes around on my beloved Wake Island. My personal faves, not necessarily in this order but kinda - and with sentimental value being a significant factor: Battlefield 2, 1943, BF3, BF1, 1942, BF4, Vietnam, BFBC2, 2142, PS2's Modern Combat (joking, mostly), a fat gap and then V and 2042.
I remembered the first time i played this BF in 2016 my brother in law bring his xbox one to my place. I had a 360 in that time so using headphones on a controler was not a thing for me hahaha, so i used muy earphones and played one game. The sound was awesome The first time i run into a trench with screams from the caharacters, gun shots bouncing in the dirt, dead players falling while explosions where nearby. Was so imersive. One of the greatest shooters i've played. I wish we can get a similar experience soon
The amount of love the developers gave to battlefield 1 is beyond my imagination From this to BF2042🤡 BF1 launched and our eyes popped out, we all thought that if they can have a game like this right now, then after 10 years what will come out😭
This is what it felt like playing the 2 week early access of EA Battlefront 2015. Dice sure do know how to immerse you even with the very arcade like HUDs.
By far the only FPS that kicked my instinct to cower under a roof rubble because how immersevely chaotic it is, especially in tight corners and alleyways in city maps such as Amiens.
Drank a bit of whiskey while going through a nasty cold one time, and played BF1 on max volume with no HUD. Woke up with war nightmares later that night

as someone who never played this game I have to say its amazing how you could easily mistake this snippet as singleplayer mode

I remembered the first time i played this BF in 2016 my brother in law bring his xbox one to my place. I had a 360 in that time so using headphones on a controler was not a thing for me hahaha, so i used muy earphones and played one game. The sound was awesome The first time i run into a trench with screams from the caharacters, gun shots bouncing in the dirt, dead players falling while explosions where nearby. Was so imersive. One of the greatest shooters i've played. I wish we can get a similar experience soon
