I pray God blesses you for being a faithful servant to His people. 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻 much love from the Hoosier state ♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️
WOWWW ME TOO!!!!! Now with the times we are facing it's time to go BACK , the OLD WAY of doing things, this is what our ancestors(grandmothers, aunts etc.) wanted us to KNOW to be able to take care of our families when hard times came!!!!!...I feel hard times are here!!!
Ella Swick-Miss Ella! Good for you! You’ll be glad you did this! I don’t can a lot at a time but I keep at it. I started canning two years ago and thoroughly enjoy it! I do can a lot of soups/stews...meals-in-a-jar. Come in handy! Oh, BTW, I’m 79...and my wife is delighted with my success! Take care, be safe and keep on canning!
Amen, she made it easier for us too and we have done butter, beef, chicken, peaches and strawberry, next is carrots and veggie broth! We bought one for my mother and father in law since they live alone and she can preserve leftovers for them! Freezing stuff ruins the flavor and we will be doing stews and soups etc for my husband for work. he's a pilot and wont have to worry about keeping meals frozen!!
You've taken me from zero experience and walked me through canning strawberry preserves, pintos, carrots, tomatoes, chicken breast and green beans! I'm forever grateful, you're an amazing and encouraging teacher and I love when you "visit" my kitchen! God bless you, Mrs. H!
I did it!!! You were there for every minute on my first ever pressure canning! Thank you so much for making such wonderful content! I truly owe you for teaching all of us how un-scary it is. Well still scary but I followed your directions. I can't wait to watch the rest of your videos for canning!
Yes, your carrots are beautiful. I am impressed. I am glad that you do not assume all of us already know it all. I am glad that you repeat the details every video. This has helped me to remember to DO what is necessary each time. I am in my 70's, and it has been several years since I canned anything. I was so reassured when I got to watch you and other homesteaders DO and talk us through EVERY step each time. You are certainly NOT boring. You are so pleasant. Thank you for your help. I appreciate you and your videos. God bless you for what you do. You have helped me with real life.
Your mamma made me laugh out loud even though I've never met her. She reminds me of my mom standing over me watching to see that I didn't peel the potatoes too deeply. Modern peelers are sure better for this than the paring knives I learned with!
So true.I still have those habits today. Turn off the lights when you leave a room, save veggie ends for soup, use only what you need. Growing up poor teaches some thrifty habits that are very useful today no matter how much money you end up having!
My sister used to tell me that I was peeling away all the potato or carrot or whatever we were preparing way back in the late 70’s , we used paring knives lol.
Your approach to canning is calming. From saving those carrots that have a little spot on them to following all the rules for safe canning is important for all of us. I have only been canning for 3 years (I will be 70 this year), and I know I can do this. I have had my garden for 3 years also. Picking up tips from you in the garden is also welcomed. Thank you.
Good morning. Growing up, some of the things we canned were 'seconds' from the grocery store or Tonaka Farms produce market. Blemishes don't mean bad. I don't care how 'pretty' people think it has to look in the jar, pretty doesn't always equate to a better taste. Cut the bad spots/ bruises off and keep going. I also appreciate how you determine how you will use the food to decide on the size jar that will work best. I think some people automatically think 'quart' jar but most of the time a pint will suffice. If you need more, open two. I dry-canned all of my flour in pints. Most recipes call for 2 cups.... exactly a pint jar. That has helped me eliminate the large canister jar on my counter that I have trouble opening anyway! LOL. Thanks for taking us along. Be safe, Be prepared, Be Blessed
Looks good.... From one "long time" canner to another have you considered canning a blend?? The GF and I can tomatoes, onions, and green peppers together for a convenient mix to cook up spaghetti sauce or chili for those time when its not "convenient".. or horrors of horror "out of a commercial can/jar"..My recipe??? Equal parts of diced onion.. green pepper and two types of tomato, one of them being Romas for the sauciness, cooked at the pressure canning method for onions and green peppers.. Try it... you won't regret it!!!

I love your teaching style. You're a natural. I seeded a bunch of carrots in August and have been picking them for dinners since they matured around late November into January. Now I am ready to gather up the rest and want to can them before they get to ripe and taste bad. This video helps!
Thanks to Leadfarmer73, I put away my fears and canned carrots today using your video after watching it about 50 times! No lie! Thanks for your great instruction!!!! I've got 16 minutes before they should be done! Thanks so much!!
My dear lady, you have taken the fear out of canning for me. I have watched many of your canning videos and listened intently to every word and tip and advise on canning. Today, with the Christmas present from my hubby(921 All American Canner), I tried, I conquered....YAY !!! I canned beef stew and carrots. Now its like i cant wait til my next canning session....or what to can next. You just keep doing what you're doing. Keep making these videos and I promise I'll keep watching. I love your videos. When I watched you can eggs and saw how simply easy it was, I was so amazed. My husband and I love the dozen of chicks I bought home in a crate one day to raise. I, being a city girl who now lives in the country of N.C. need to learn all about canning. The carrots are so beautiful and this year I learned how to make homemade carrot cake. Had to come back to get a refresher lol I harvested 1 bed grated till my arm almost fell off but filled 3 dehydrators and now I am cutting up carrots for canning. I grew 2 big above ground beds and staggered their growing by 1 month so not to overwhelm myself 😁 I hear your momma waste not want not!

Got to share a hack with you. you can't find any tools for canning anywhere. While shopping at Dollar general I looked through the clearance and found that they sell clay working tools which are a hard plastic and perfect for getting the air out of the jars before placing the caps on,one of them has a perfect blunt end that I was able to melt and secure a magnet onto so I can fish my lids out of the hot water with. I got them for a dollar fifty that's four of them.Grandma always said necessity is the mother of invention! And I'm off on my Canning adventure. Thanks mrs. Heart.

I love your channel so. But, girl, you mentioned using that mandolin and I immediately stopped to go to prayer! If I did that, my nickname would be stumpy! And I LOVE your mama! AND your puppy!
I just got done canning carrots. I knew when you said 20lbs you would get about 16 pints out of it because that's the amount I got....easiest thing I ever canned but I can't imagine slicing them all by hand with out my mandoline. When I slice them by hand, they end up flying all over the kitchen! Lol.
I just used a mandolin for the 1st time... half a carrot later, I cannot do my potatoes, cauliflower, or pork chops due to the chunk out of my finger... waste of my day. :(
@@tarlenajenkins9359 I got one of those kevlar gloves to protect my hand as I am always cutting myself. It works very well. Once you get the hang of a mandoline without injuring yourself, you will wonder how you ever did without it.

cows and pigs love love love those peels
I watched your video step by step and got 22 pint jars of carrots today. You are an AMAZING instructor!!! Thank you!!!
Lol 'it's not a national emergency ' love your humor & personally ❤️ love watching your videos!
First video I’ve watched of this lady and boy- I just love her personality!
Omg your personality is so contagious ! I don’t even care that I don’t own a pressure canner!
One request, since you can so much and I’ve been following you during your canning processing, why not show your followers your pantry? I’m sure it’s beautiful since you take such pride in your canning. Thanks
That is a great idea!! I hope she does do a pantry tour video
@homesteader fifty w/ ricky & martha 😂😂😂
I cool mine on a cooling rack like you do for cookies. Is that okay. I just love watching you
I watch so many homesteading channels. Why have I never seen you before?! RUclips has failed me.
I’m subscribing, and will be binge watching. You are instantly likable, and have great info. I’m a fan already!!
Its like having my best friend right there guiding me along. And you have such a lovely attitude. Big Big Thank you !!!!!! From: Suzanne W.
I really like the way you present from start to finish in language even the youngest would understand. Especially the operation of the pressure canner! Thank you your a wonderful teacher!
I absolutely love your channel.. I’m obsessed!! Those carrots 🥕 are gorgeous!! 🥰
I love how everything looks so pretty in your kitchen. You're an AMAZING TEACHER! Thank you so much for your valuable information 😊
I spent the money for a food processor, what a time saver!!!!
So someone told me to not use the oven to sterilize my jars because dry heat causes microscopic cracks in your jars that eventually will break the jar. We are here to help each other you teach me so much and I pass on to you what I have learned. Wishing you the best..
Marie Hudgeons put them in a cold oven and don’t overheat...200 degrees
I watched this again, as I was prepping 20+ lbs of carrots, picked fresh from my daughters garden 4 days ago! Our first hard frost is tomorrow night (10-21-20) so got them out and preserving them just in time!!
Thanks to your channel and a couple other channels I have learned to PC at age 60-and am loving it!!
Thank you Mrs Homestead Heart! ♥️
LeRoy Ahrens Sweet! It was snowing here in Quebec when we dug out the last carrots two days ago! Am 59 and learning all the time. Nov 2020
Homesteaders Heart! I enjoy your videos so much and needed to let you know this. I have a great desire to start canning food. I love carrots and don’t want any to waste. Thank you for your teaching. Your gift will make room for you and bring you before great men. God bless you in all of your endeavors! I am already subscribed since I first saw you and your Husband build your greenhouse! Amazing! And I share your videos!
I just found you!! I’m so very happy!!♥️
Thank you for all your videos. I enjoy your canning videos over others. You keep it short and to the point. 👍
Your carrots are beautiful! I get excited every time I hear that ping, every time lol.
I love your facial expressions so much! You make my day with your eye-roll 😆
I’m laughing at your dog. I have watched soooo many hours of your videos and he always makes sure we know he is alive and doing well!
Thank you so much for sharing your beautiful spirit with us, I could listen to you all day!. I've learned new foods to can that I would never have the courage to try. Following you and using your methods , I've got quite a pantry now!! Woohoo! Blessings to you and your family.🙏🙏🙏
Thanks mrs. Heart.
Great job!! More folks should be working on these “old arts” before they become lost arts
You make a great teacher!!! Anytime I want to can I go to you. Thank you!!🐑🕊
You have the best, most informative, easy to follow canning tutorials I've seen. I hadn't canned in years and this is the perfect refresher. Thank you and may God be pleased with your efforts.
I adore this woman
I did it! Because of you I did it! I never would have fooled with anything involving "pressure" if it weren't for your "you can can" encouragement. Thanks a whole lot!!!
Thank you Mrs. H for your classes. I have learned so much from you. Love you and whole family. God's blessings to you.
Cindy Buck here, I love the faces you make. Your laugh is pretty cool too.
I realize this video has been out for sometime but I've never canned carrots 🥕 thank you for letting me follow along with you. Praying all is well with you and Mr. Heart
I have been watching your videos. I’m canning carrots tomorrow morning. Thank you, you’re a wonderful teacher.
Thank you! Thank you! THANK YOU!!! I've finally done it, with the help of your excellent video. Today carrots...tomorrow the world!
A little tip I once heard along my canning journey is this: A pint's a pound the world around. So far I have found it to be basically true.
Lol.
Lol
I just used a mandolin for the 1st time... half a carrot later, I cannot do my potatoes, cauliflower, or pork chops due to the chunk out of my finger... waste of my day. :(
@@tarlenajenkins9359 I got one of those kevlar gloves to protect my hand as I am always cutting myself. It works very well.
Once you get the hang of a mandoline without injuring yourself, you will wonder how you ever did without it.
I just got 16 pints!
I watched you do carrots before, but now I am referring back, because I’m canning carrots today! You da best!
Really enjoy listening to your instructions. You are so easy to follow. Almost like standing in my aunts kitchen in NC. So glad i found you. 👍❤
I'm canning carrots from my garden for the first time today!
Thanks for the tips, hun.
Carrots make great soup. whizz them with an onion. Boil a leg shank and add barley and salt and pepper to taste. Yum and easy. This is my grandmothers receipe and im nearly 70
