I thank you from the bottom of my heart for teaching me to prepare my family for what's ahead.Peace and blessing to you and your family.
I am also 64 and just learned to pressure can. Its really easy. Just took another 7 jars of green beans out of the canner. Bless Homestead Heart. 🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸

You remind me so much of a childhood friend.. She was a special woman, and had a special way of making a moment too. Lmbo. I'll never forget she had me to take her to radio shack one day. .. I didn't ask why she needed to go. Once inside she let it be known, she didn't care for their universal remote control. The manager smiled and said " that's your cellphone". She just smile back and said " Thank the Most High God. There's an eraser at the opposite end of a pencil" But, those facial expressions she made.. Priceless. She passed away, a month ago. I can see her in you, with those facial expressions.. Oh, and when I say she was special.. I didn't mean, the little school bus special. I meant. How she could make a moment hers without even trying.. The same way you do.. Which makes you a joy to watch. Much Respect. Peace always
Love your blogs. So full of great and helpful information. My granddaughter loves anything pineapple. This is a girl that comes home from school and will eat almost a whole can of pineapple for a snack. So I am going to make her the pineapple jam. It looks delicious and could almost smell it on your video. Lol. Bless you and haved a great day.
I’m not sure how I stumbled across you but thank god! I had no idea that you could can raw meat or butter. You saved me from buying another freezer. You’re truly a blessing. Thank you
I’ve been canning a long time, but still like watching what other folks do. Ma’am this is one of the very best tutorial vids I’ve watched. You are good!
I’ve got a little hint for you. Next time you go to Walmart, pick up a roll of that shelf lining that’s a little thick and nubbly. I cut a piece big enough to go under my cutting board to keep it from sliding around on the counter. I really enjoy your channel. I used to live in Hephzibah, Georgia, just a little south of Augusta. I sure did my share of picking/shelling/husking/freezing/canning all sorts of veggies. Never canned chicken, though. Also, we used to grow loofahs and I used them in the shower and also to wash dishes with. I’d peel them, cut them into a good size for whatever, then put them in a bucket of water with a little Clorox in It. They’d come out several shades lighter, just like the ones you’d buy in the stores. I sure do enjoy your videos. I’m 71 now and I still do a little canning, but not near as much as I used to. Keep up the good work.
I never thought about canning meat. Awesome video. I love the husband & wife team working the homestead together. May God continue to bless your family.
I got interested in canning because I'd rather not eat Spam.I never knew it was possible but there ya go.I guess I was afraid of making my Family sick but these videos are concise and straightforward.Great teacher!
Hey Homestead Heart, I canned chicken for the first time yesterday. Thanks to your video I was able to follow along step by step. Thank you again for your canning vids and motivation. It was easy peasy, exactly the way you make it loo,k and I'm glad I have the same canner. Yes, I can CAN!!!
I’m with you! A wreak but I bought cheapest chicken now that I have to hunt by price. Came with breast and rib bones. I cut them off but will make chicken broth out of them. Package of 4 made 3 pints. Their in the pressure canner now and I’m shaking..
I would absolutely love if after you canned something, you showed us how you use it to cook or cook with it. It would be awesome! I know you have so much to do but if you find time... :)
You need a knife sponsor to give you a chef knife to make cutting easier for yourself, that will save time. Thank you for making such a lovely video. god bless .
We all have our favorite knives, lol. Whatever is comfortable in your hand will do just fine, as long as it’s sharp! Don’t forget you’ll need to keep those knives sharp! Make sure you have a good sharpener or whetstone!
A simple knife sharpener and a steel rod can make any knife a chef knife. I always touch up my Dime Store clever befor cutting meat and especially tomatoes!
Shalom Sister Just by the intro , you and your King got my support ,I love seeing our people Homesteading, I'm transitioning day by day to self-sustainability and sufficiency, thanks for the informative and informational video ✊🙏❤ Blessings Family
I live in Atlanta GA. I don't know exactly where you are, but I love that you are homesteading, and I must say I've learned a lot from you and I'm going to try my hand with you as my guide. Your humor remins me of me. Shalom. 😃
🙋🏽♀️😍When my big mama passed I kept all her canning and gardening books. Seeing this makes me miss my grandparents so much. I’m moving into a home with a big ole’ backyard soon and I can’t wait to start gardening and canning.. My granny always said you need to know how to live off the land if need be!! I’m so glad I found your channel
Great video, I'm a old time canner over 40 years and still loving it, but I prefer roasting my chicken first, it's a texture thing, it also looks better, and tastes and looks like the canned chicken you would buy in the store, plus it doesn't clump together because it's in its own beautiful broth, just a tip for those who prefer a better texture to their chicken, LOL you remind me of me in the kitchen, try smoking fish, then can it, you will never buy canned tuna again, I really like your personality, glad I found your channel😀
I am new to canning! I've watched so many channels and tutorials this month. You & your videos are the only thing that made me get over the phobia of doing something wrong. You are such a joy to watch! Thank you for your videos!!
Sheri Broadwater I did some raw pack canned meatloaf so when I spoon them out it’s like meatballs🤪. The rest were precooked sloppy joe, seasoned taco meat, and seasoned beef for spaghetti all with onions and garlic. Also canned some hot dogs some with and some without water.
I am so happy I tried this last night. I just want you to know you are a blessing. I am well on my way. I also tried the carrots yesterday. I am looking forward to doing the green beans. Lead Farmer is right. You are awesome.
Just took up canning on the verge of retirement. I love watching her presentation. She's thorough in her presentation. Delightful to listen to. Very descriptive. Plus I love that little giggle she throws in as she's talking. It reminds me of my family. HOOKED!
I’ll be 63 in a few weeks so I’m joining the 60’s group! This is my first time canning sweet potatoes 🍠 and I’m excited and confident that everything will be ok.
I am just working on Gardening and realize I have much to learn. This is better than having To freeze meats and stuff. It is cooked and seasoned. I will share this with my Husband since he gets Restless when he gets hungry. Thank you for Educating us. You like Family, much love. You Are a beautiful lady.
I am just starting out with a tiny garden. So far I have canned ground beef, spag sauce, carrots, and potatoes. It gives me a huge sense of satisfaction seeing food on my shelf. The fact I can feed my family regardless of what is going on in the world brings me peace.
I love how sincere you are in explaining the process and procedure of canning. I have watched 3 of your videos and I am so proud to see a young African American couple with such skill and knowledge in homesteading and willing to share with us. Thank you and may God continually bless ya'll! (I am African American and I have been on farms to visit family and that is why I mentioned the ethnicity. I am grateful to see ya'll prosper and be in health even as your souls prosper. God bless.)
WOW! I'm amazed at how much juice that chicken produced on it's on own without adding any liquid to the jars!! NICE JOB!! I can't wait to can my chicken wings!
I'm up here in Pittsburgh Pennsylvania and have been fearful of canning all my life. Thank you so much for helping me stepping up to the challenge and overcoming the fear! I used my mom's 30 year old canner, explicitly followed the instructions of the book and yippee! Canned chicken. Thank you thank you thank you and God bless you and Mr H. I look forward to many more viewings of your channel. Homestead heart is the best 💕 tomorrow I'm canning ground meat 🤗💙💚💜
I love your canning tutorials! I literally won't watch anyone else when I need to know how to can something. You done done it all!! 😄 Peace and many blessings to you and yours. You are most certainly a blessing to us, in this critical time, Beloved.🤲🏽🤲🏽
Done done it!!!!! Was afraid of canning meats until I viewed you. They looked so pretty after I finished. Canning Fish Broth from stewed down fish heads. Hmm!! smell so good. Thanks Sis.
I just canned 18 pints of chicken today. Thank you so much for having this video. It popped up yesterday when i just got back with 20 pounds of chicken breast. Just as a FYI it took about 6 pounds of chicken to fill 7 wide mouth pints. Then I did 11 regular jars and left out about 2 pounds to make chicken fingers to freeze Thank you again keep up the great work.
My canner just arrived!....WHAT I LOVE ABOUT YOU IS THAT YOU DO ACTUAL FOOD, I don’t want to pickle anything and I don’t want to make jam. I brought 5 books and that is all they have YOU DO ACTUAL MEALS THANK YOU, a daily follower

I keep my regulator in a small jar , it only comes out of there when I use it and immediately goes back in there. I had a few of those panic moments before I started the habit of never leaving it on the counter.
I keep losing mine too! I keep thinking I put it in a safe place and can't remember where I put it! Also, how do you store your canner? Do you leave your gauge on, leave the lid up, flip it upside down or remove it all together? How do you wash the top unless you remove it? I am so afraid of bumping it or damaging it.
Never learned how to can from the cold state. Great to know. I never heard of the size jars you used??? BTW keeping up with the weight is my problem too.
Thank you so much Sister for sharing all of your information with us. When ever I get down are depressed I watch your videos, and they lift me up. I love canning, and storing food. You are like my spiritual Sister. Thanks again Sandra Muhammad 💞
I'm not a new bee, but an old 🐝 bee! I haven't pressure canned for 40 years! But I agree that we should preserve for future disasters and pandemics like the one we're dealing with now. I'm a 68 yr old 3 time cancer survivor. I want to know what's in my food. I canned chicken yesterday, but uses the Ball book instructions. What a mess. Everything sealed but I had to wash off my jars! Today we listen to you! No extra liquid. Turned out fabulous. Yeah!
We live on a boat sailing Malaysia at the moment..so glad to have discovered you and we plan to can chicken, meat, fish etc for passage making. Thank you so much!
You have truly inspired me to get busy canning! I LOVE the way you simplified this video tutorial. I will be getting my American pressure canning cooker. Thanks a million. LeadFarmer73 told us to come to your channel. I've subscribed. I'm growing my okra, Roma tomatoes, ginger, red mustard greens, bird peppers, yams, Meyer's lemons now. It will be a blessing to have food stored for a year and not have to go to the grocery store. GOD bless!
This is a great tutorial for those of us who are new to canning meats. Thank you so much for the time you spent to make me feel more comfortable with my canning. I’m already discussing chicken preservation with my dear husband. God bless you! Willette from Alabama. 🙂
I love her presentation because she smiles, makes her audience smile, she is funny and down to earth like we southerners are, and explains the important procedures for personal safety and of the processing of meats,. She has a smile and humor that keeps on giving. I give you a 10. She was so funny when she couldn't find the gauge< but her giggle and surprise me when she found it was.precious😆♥️
I'm binge watching your entire food preservation series in amazement. Thank you for demonstrating the canning process step-by-step. I'm gearing up to start as soon as my equipment arrives. Oooo I can hardly wait. Thanks again for the inspiration 🤗❣
Houston we have a problem 🤣😂🤣😂 LOVE the simplicity of your teaching, newbie here building up “pressure” of my own to attempt to can my first item. TY very much ♥️♥️♥️
Thank you for explaining and making this so simple. Felt like i was being taught side by side with a family member. Your giggles are a plus. I have my headphones in and every time you giggled I did too and my husband came over asking what was so funny. You have brightened my day❤️
I love this channel! Mrs. Homestead Heart, I love how you just do you and are so knowledgeable about canning and how you explain things. I have been canning like crazy. Pressure canning is definitely next. I'm still working up my nerve...
I love your videos and have learned so much about food preservation! Thank you for taking time out of your busy schedule to make these valuable videos ❤❤❤ I love how sweet and down to earth you are. It warms my heart to know how much you care for others enough to share what you have learned throughout the years of canning and preserving food. I also wanted to give you a little tip I learned years ago. I learned that if I take a damp paper towel and lay it out flat under my cutting board it keeps it in place and won't slide around. I love it and so simple. Thanks again Mrs. H. for all you do! With much love in Christ, Tracy J.
Thank you for teaching us how to can chicken My mom would run us out of house when she was canning I am 65 and i have never used a canner till this year you have been such a good teacher and I thank God for you God bless you I do plant a garden and but never canned what we couldnt eat i give away now i have canned potatoes chicken and pintos this year and i am looking for canning alot more so Thank you so much much I love watching you thanks so much
Thank you once again! I am learning so much from you and your family!! I have a regular canning boiler, I have to buy a pressure canner!! I never knew you could can meat! I am going to try it!! I can see why you didn’t pre cook the chicken!! It basically cooked the legs apart in the jar! I can’t wait! Love you all channel!!❤️❤️❤️❤️
My hubby and I tripped over you channel with your Hoop House video. I so enjoy watching you videos. You have such a joy about you. You are proof of how God blesses us all.
lol this reminded me of the year we raised 100 baby chicks beginning in an incubator in the spring and canned for days in the fall, in the 70's on my Granny's farm. Chickens hanging from the clothes line, plucking feathers by the well, burning off pin feathers. I was so sick of chicken by springtime, but we didn't go hungry between the 2 acre garden and 3 pigs raised and then butchered put in the smokehouse, fresh milk and meat from the cows. It was a lot of work out in the sun but back then that's just how life was on a farm.
First video of yours I’ve seen. New to canning...and you made me feel like I can now do it...I wish you were my neighbor..lol I found myself smiling through your entire video. What a joy you are. Thank you for teaching us newbies how to can chicken. God Bless you and your family.
This was the easiest version of canning chicken I’ve seen. You did forget to tell your viewers to not touch the jars until they are completely cooled and make sure they sealed. Thank you for all your videos. I enjoy all the practical advice you give. I live in South Carolina so your advice is more practical for me.
I am going to be canning all my vegetables this year and my Deer as well in my new pressure canner. I went yesterday and got one just like your's i just like the way it's designed. I have watched just about all your canning video's thanks so much for sharing. I truly appreciate you taking the time to share your knowledge. Takecare and keep safe
I do the same thing, I can't for the life of me remember the name of something I use all the time! You were very helpful showing me how to can the chicken.
I've canned for 60 years and I never tire of listening to others wisdom. You are knowledgeable and very entertaining. I can hear my family's voice in yours. Thank you for all the fun.
Watching April 8, 2022 because we need to set aside food even more than before. The writing has been on the wall. I watched many canning videos and even took an online class, but Homestead Heart makes it seem easy. I have had my presser canner for almost 2 years ands used it once when i took that class. Watching this has given me a boldness to try it again. I have canned meats but I want my own. Thank you Homestead Heart for getting me going again.
Thank you so much for your easy and relaxed way of teaching how to survive. I have never canned before and cannot wait to do it. Going to learn as much as I can from you to pass along to my family. God bless. Sandria Banks
Do you have a video telling about who taught you to can? Did you teach yourself? I was never interested to learn from my paternal grandmother who canned and gardened when I could have. Now it is too late and I am determined to learn so I can share these skills with my children.
Go on youtube. That is how I learned and she said this is how she learned. Buy books and use youtube. There are some great youtube videos on food preservation. Happy learning!
when I was in school all they taught us was how to bake fudge & cookies.I knew how to sew so I asked to take shop-NOPE on that one! I mean teach practical cookery skills for real life situations-teach nutrition and Canning. The teachers acted like "you don't need to learn anything because you'll Marry well. That is not the point. Now, it seems all they want to teach is how to use a Smart phone which I do not own nor ever will. Our education system is so backwards. No wonder test scores Worldwide are so low.
Get yourself a copy of Ball Canning and Preserving its one of my many bibles as Momma called it. Us kids would have starved if nit for knowing the basics. We all were required to know them and no gender specific skills either. Don't be intimidated and don't forget to experiment with herbs and seasonings to make it your own. Happy creating!😘
Mrs. Homestead Heart; Thank you for these series, because of your video's I have water bathed strawberry jam, peach jam and apricot jam, and sliced peaches, and finally yesterday put up white potatoes using my new pressure canner, I was so nervous but reminded myself what you said "You can do it" anyway they came out perfect, so this week end Chicken, legs and thighs and breasts, I am on a roll! Just wanted you to know that I truly appreciate you and May God Bless You ♡
OMG....thanks for this video. As a person that has never canned, and especially would have been afraid of canning RAW😳. You did your thang. I am definitely going to try this. Just think of the sodium you saved. AWESOME. I got an extra kick out of your laugh. That is my identical laugh. I thank LeadFarmer's channel for introducing me from his channel to yours.
It's divine. It shreds as it comes out of the jar. My family uses it in chicken salad, soups and stews, and any other recipe that calls for cooked chicken. I've never added garlic to mine. I'm sure that gives it an amazing flavor boost. And the broth that comes out of the jar is gold! I save it for later if I don't need it immediately. Don't throw it away!!! My kids did that a few times and I was so sad.
I can whole chicken breasts with no skin but have bone. It has a better taste than boneless, skinless. The chicken comes off the bone easily. I even lay it in a pan and put bbq sauce on it and put it under the broiler of my gas oven. Cutting it up is a waste of time for me because it falls right off the bone after canned. You can make chicken and dumplings, chicken stew, chicken salad, bbq chicken, white chicken chili, chicken Alfredo, chicken pot pie, chicken soups and more. Saves so much time.
We had just gotten our canner and watched this video when it first came out. We canned our first batch of chicken right along with you. Now, some 2 years later, we cracked one of those jars open and made chicken enchiladas. That made for some good, tender chicken.
Thank you, thank you Mrs. H for making this vid. First time canning and I watched it a lot and actually got the nerve to do it. I did it! You and hubs are the best! 🙏😊
I am so glad I came across your video I am 55 years old and my grandma use to can or preserve foods I tried chicken years ago and it didn’t work but thanks to you I now know how and I am sharing your videos thank you
I love canned chicken mm mmm! I grew up on this, mom raised chickens and a whole lot more, so mom canned tons of good food and baked bread plus lots of other yummy goodness. I’m so glad I learned it all from her. When I can chicken I add salt and pepper. I’ve seen where some add broth, so this last time I canned chicken I tried that method, oh lord never again! The chicken taste real good but it was to liquidy, I like the juice jelled way better. Since the juice was so delicious, throwing it out was not an option, I would pour the juice into an ice cube tray and freeze it, pop it into a zip lock back and add them to sauces , Gravy, even rice when it’s cookin. I’m going to add garlic powder next time, mmm love garlic. There is nothing better then the taste and convenience of having your own preserved food in the cellar. My garden is soon going to be ready for me to start canning, I love it. The last to be picked and put away are onions and a big heap of potatoes. It’s a lot of of work but so worth it. I love your videos, thumbs up and omg I sure love your giggle lol. God bless and stay safe ! Your fan in Saskatchewan.
You make this look so easy. I finally got one in Dec. I've never used one before. Didn't understand the book. Oh my. What a mess. Lol. I finally made 5 qts pinto beans. They came out good. But, you answered alot of my question. I will take you with me to next adventure. Your videos so I can LISTEN to them as I go. Thank you and God's blessings

Having beef I canned in 2017 for dinner tonight in 2020. LOVE my pressure canner, thanks for taking the time to show everyone canning. You're smart to use the 1.5 pint jars, the heat would still get to the middle like the pints so why not! I will do this in the future. Much love and gratefulness for your time to educate.

I agree with you.
Why call out black or white? It`s not necessary. She is a treasure regardless. Jus saying
She is a treasure because she is canning chicken or she is black. Because I can chicken. No body said I should be in a museum,,,,lol.

I do this as well. I don't know who invented that rubbery shelf liner stuff, but they are smart and so many things you can use it for!!!
Me too! I was a nervous wreck, but I did it!!! Yay us!!!👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Me too and I have the same Presto canner and a smaller version. I love how easy the canner is to use. Her demo was awesome!!!
@@AcornHillHomestead 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 I have the Presto 23 and I love it too. Good for you to start canning! I started mid September and haven’t stopped…..
I’m with you! A wreak but I bought cheapest chicken now that I have to hunt by price. Came with breast and rib bones. I cut them off but will make chicken broth out of them. Package of 4 made 3 pints. Their in the pressure canner now and I’m shaking..
@@kayc5836 How did your chicken turn out? I’m a newbie to canning but want to give it a try. It’s important to learn these skills NOW.
I would absolutely love if after you canned something, you showed us how you use it to cook or cook with it. It would be awesome! I know you have so much to do but if you find time... :)
I did it!!!! I canned my first batch of chicken thighs and legs raw packed just like you said!!! I'm so excited!!!!! Thank you thank you thank you!😁
That's Awesome...Im so happy for you.
You need a knife sponsor to give you a chef knife to make cutting easier for yourself, that will save time. Thank you for making such a lovely video. god bless .
Yes she does 😂 it was painful for me to watched her cutting those chickens with her tiny little knife because I used a clever for everything!😊
If I lived near you, your knives would be razor sharp. Great vid.
I noticed how much faster I can cut when my knives are life and sharp as well.
Shalom. 😃
My Sister I can not begin to tell you how much you and your husband are appreciated. May God continue to bless your family.
You are a magnificent teacher ! I love your energy, upbeat personality and positive attitude. Thanks for making this fun. 🎉🎉🎉
I wish I were their neighbor, I would love working on that farm.
I have slot of
I have a lot of cooked chicken and it's frozen can I take that and thaw it out and can it in the jars?

I have canned my life away this weekend. 20+lbs ground beef and 40lbs leg quarters. Tested a a jar in a pasta recipe. Deliciously quick!!
Good job, congratulations
Is your ground beef canned raw as well?
Sheri Broadwater I did some raw pack canned meatloaf so when I spoon them out it’s like meatballs🤪. The rest were precooked sloppy joe, seasoned taco meat, and seasoned beef for spaghetti all with onions and garlic. Also canned some hot dogs some with and some without water.
@@noorb8060 how did you store them raw? I want to learn as much as i can
Aqua Star raw pack is putting the meat in the jar raw and it cooks in the jar. I did those with meatloaf seasoning.
This is the best canning video by far. I feel confident in trying this on my own thank you🥰
I am so happy I tried this last night. I just want you to know you are a blessing. I am well on my way. I also tried the carrots yesterday. I am looking forward to doing the green beans. Lead Farmer is right. You are awesome.

We found a killer sale on chicken breast this week. So Saturday I'll be canning most of it. Wish me luck!
Then I did 11 regular jars and left out about 2 pounds to make chicken fingers to freeze
Thank you again keep up the great work.
What size jars did you use as the "regular" for 11 lbs? Thanks.

I am happy that you have shown us how to can chicken, my daughter just asked me about canning meat. Bless you
I keep my regulator in a small jar , it only comes out of there when I use it and immediately goes back in there.
You have the best laugh. I can’t wait for chicken to go on sale so I can do this. 😊
Houston, we have a problem! Cracked me up. Great stuff. How about a view of all these canned goodies in your pantry?

GOD bless!
That's wonderful, grow as much as you can.
This is a great tutorial for those of us who are new to canning meats. Thank you so much for the time you spent to make me feel more comfortable with my canning. I’m already discussing chicken preservation with my dear husband. God bless you! Willette from Alabama. 🙂
I love the way you explain things so much simpler than others do and with the added flair of personality. Thank you! 😊

Love how simple you do it.

God bless.

@@ruth2nice0769 I honestly do not know how I'd learn so many new skill sets without YT.
I love to watch you. You have such a good sense of humor and you make canning look doable for me. I’m so glad I found your channel
Just wanted you to know that I truly appreciate you and May God Bless You ♡
You're a great teacher to those just learning an very humorous as well,it will stick in peoples heads as your making learning interesting.
It's way better then store bought, and you know what’s in your canned goods
I love how detailed you are on showing how to do everything! 💞 Thank you!!! It helps sooo much!
I’m interested in seeing some videos that use the canned
chicken. How does it taste?
I was going to ask this too. Will you make a video using the canned chicken? I’m curious too about the taste. I love your videos.
Brooke Baker so good to know how you have used this and quality of taste! I’d be “upset” to find all my hard work was for nothing!!
Saves so much
time.
I've never canned meat but I can tell you my grandmother did and it was so good. Talk about bone broth. I think the chicken was my favorite!
I just love her! Explains so simply to dummies like me and entertaining also!
We had just gotten our canner and watched this video when it first came out. We canned our first batch of chicken right along with you. Now, some 2 years later, we cracked one of those jars open and made chicken enchiladas. That made for some good, tender chicken.
You are absolutely amazing!! There is something very “Wanda Sikes” about ya. Too funny!!
This was so wonderful to watch!! Thank you so much!!!
