FOR THOSE OF YOU WHO SAY YOUR SCREEN SEEMS BIGGER THAN THE WINDOW SLOT: freaking I finally figured it out. you need to fit one top corner into place by holding it super diagonally, then you place other top corner into the frame. After that you realign the frame making it undiagonal and as you fit both top corners in. pull up the tabs on the bottom to fit the other half in. DONE, I FINALLY DID IT
Omg girl ur a miracle!💐 I thought I messed it up cuz I dragged my 2nd floor window screen *in* thru the window(struggle🤦🏼♀️)...but I can’t get it back *out* the same way to reinstall and I’m not climbing a ladder two stories onto a sloped roof...I’m trying this today. Awesome tip!!!
"I asked my boys if they knew how to do it and they said no" lmfao either their full of shit n have been sneaking out n thought you where about to pinch them or they had no idea but know now aha
Thank you so much! Prior to watching this video, I left my window open and a huge mosquito and a weird looking spider came into my room. I moved a couple months ago, so my bedroom doesn't have a window screen. I took the window screen from the spare bedroom and was able to install it with your help!
Just moved into my first apartment and two of my windows are missing screens! This Dad video really helped, now I’m pretty sure I can just install new ones all on my own! Thanks for the simple but needed video!
Thank you so much!! I've replaced many screens over the years but none had the tabs and compression clips so I was lost as to how to put the ones in my new apartment back! Now I can do it!!!
thanks for the video! I had to remove my screens from my apartment windows for cleaners and I am on the top floor and was having a hard time on my own. Thanks for the easy to follow footage!
Thank you. I've been wanting to clean my windows, but wasn't sure how to remove and replace the screens. This was as helpful as if I had a dad to come show me.
It worked! You just helped us solve a problem living on the third floor, and hearing bamboo branches and leaves screeching against the window all night and keeping us up. Thank you!
Very helpful. Never had to do this before. Had our first hot day in a while and wanted my window open, but the screen wasn't in it. You're a lifesaver.
Thank you so much! I've been avoiding installing my new screen all summer because it intimidated me so much. 😅 Your video made it quick and easy work. I appreciate you so much
Appreciate the video. Older I get the more visual I need to understand how things work. It got hot this weekend but the screens are so dirty I want them clean to start the season off right.
My screen appears to be bigger than the slot it came out of. It really is not bigger becasue it came out of the exact slot. But when I try to put it back in, it doesn't appear as though I can put it back in without bending the frame. What am I doing wrong?
Thank you so much, I be able to put back my window screens after I watched your video , burglar pry out the screen this afternoon, I couldn't put it back, so good thing I found you, my screen have the two clips on the side of the screen, no tabs, but opposite side do have raised edge I can grab onto!
One of the best things I watched in a while on YT....almost as good as when I was watching a random vid of some family and I saw a grandpa get a chair and step on top of the trash can to push it down. Yes....I didn't think of doing that lol. I was now able to put more trash in lol.
I have a few screens where the tabs are broken off. You can take a flat bladed screwdriver and pry up a little bit on the bottom of the screen. Careful here, you can put a dent in the screen if you pry to hard.
Thank You for the great videos! They are helpful... I am changing my moms faucet when I go to her house tomorrow for xmas visit but all the other vids i've seen call for plumber's putty but I noticed you didn't use any while changing yours, is it just due to the model faucet you bought?
Nice video but it doesn't seem to be working for me. I'm also trying to clean my Windows but my window blocks it from pushing out as well as in. There's a metal piece preventing me from pushing it out and my actual window and the metal on the screen is keeping me from pushing it towards my body. What would be a second option for this dilemma?
Hello- may I have a question: I have a hard time getting the screen out because both of the bow shapes kinka broke so I cannot push that side inward in order to get the other side out? I am afraid to use too much force that I might break the frame? Can you give some tip? I did not see the two flaps like your screen on mine at all? Are they different?
+Sam Bain You need to be careful you don't bend the frame when removing the screens. Sometimes prying with a straight blade screwdriver near the corners helps with the removal.
I have the window screen with the U-shape clips (3:10) that I got out to replace the screen. I cannot get the screen back into the grove because there is not a tab on the other side of the screen. What can I do to re-install the screen, besides tape?
which lip does the screen go into. The outer one is easy, but the screen leaves a little gap. The inner lip is VERY difficult, and I already bent a screen trying to get it in. 3 of the 4 corners go in, but I cant get the 4th in without getting it caught
i had to order more screens because i got frustrated and bent it. the tabs broke, and the screen wouldnt fit.....i tried the screwdriver but didnt work....its only taking out for my AC, other than that i wouldnt take it out...UGH, ill try again with the new one, Question ? on your last video the bigger screen, is that on backwards ? the tab was on the outside? shouldnt that be on the inside ? so no one can break into the home ?
On our windows that are high off the ground the tabs are on the inside for ease of removal. On the bigger windows on the deck the tabs are on the outside of the screen for the same reason. I use window secondary locks with thumbscrews on the glass frames of those windows to prevent someone from breaking in.
maybe you can help me with my slider, it has no lock, and my cat opens it, so im putting duck tape on it to keep shut, its in the basement, double french doors, any suggustions ?
Sue Shattuck If it's a sliding glass door you could either cut a pipe of pipe or wood that would sit in the track behind the door to keep it from sliding open, or even use a secondary lock with thumbscrew and fasten it to the track edge just behind the door that slides.
I'm having trouble with mine, I think they weren't supposed to be removable but my stepdad took them out to clean and couldn't get them back in. There is a lip on the frame all around where the screen goes and nothing is removable or unscrew able. The screens are one solid piece as well, so they would have to be bent and forced back in and I don't want to try and fall off the ladder
I have the two clips and they are on the side of the screen. I am on the second floor and live in a co-op. I could not for the life of me get the screen back in after repairing it. I spent almost an hour trying to get the stupid thing back in but could not from the inside. I also have NO tabs. In the process of pushing, pulling, tugging, I now have the screen half in and half out, jammed in on one side and I cannot get it out. I wanted to avoid going to the super tomorrow but I am afraid if I pull and tug any more I will break the frame. I already think I broke one of the medal clips and that's why it is jamming now. Any suggestions? I managed to get screen out with no problem, but no way going back in.
If you don't have the tabs to pull on then you might have to use a flat blade screwdriver to pry on the opposite side of the frame to get the spring clips to compress. Also double check that you don't have dirt built up or some kind of obstruction in the frame slot the screen goes into.
I have the same exact screen, but my problem is that when I put it back in the screen isnt completely lined up and the corners stick out. Do you know how to fix this?
The metal spring clips on the opposite side should push the ends with the tabs into the groove. Can you hold the tabs and wiggle the corners into place opposite the spring clips?
lmao mines isn't the size of the whole window & my little metal-bops were on the side instead of the top. im also on the second floor so i couldn't go outside to do it. finally got it fixed tho one of the metal-bops were slipped to the side so when i thought it was actually in, the higher one was out by just a little bit & messed up any chance of me pushing it in, but the method pretty much works the same for the sideways ones too.
oh man..... good video, but!!! but.... it's never works so easy (maybe its just for me) but I always have to bend frame either pull out or place in back in.... literally every time i have band the frame, do you know why screen always seems to be bigger..... anyways .... i going to make my own windows screens this time and it will be a bit smaller
I have window screens from the mid-1970s; they only have two sliding tabs that move in and out on one vertical side (i.e., on the right, when working from inside) and NO springs whatsoever. There is some tension built into the design to aid in removal/reinstallation. It was miserable getting them out, and I've just about given up trying to put them back in place. There must be a simple method way to reinstalling them, but it's difficult working alone. You have to work one side in, then bend them a lot to get them to fit in place. It feels like I'm close to leaving a permanent kink in the frame, so I back off. They were just re-screened at Ace Hardware, and now I can't reinstall them. I spent almost two hours trying from the inside, then going back outside to reinstall them before I gave up. This is a job that either takes less than five minutes for a professional to do, or four hours if you're a neophyte. So far, I haven't found a video that addresses my type of window screens. I'd appreciate usable advice from professionals who have dealt with this issue. Thanks.
One thing I discovered is that it can go in backwards. On my screen, I had to pull back the springs with a screwdriver and pull it out on that side. I turned it around and was able to do as in the video. Having it the other way, there's no possibility of getting it out by pulling on the tabs. Weird.

We don't have those spring loaded screens, that's why. I'm not finding these at Home Depot. I'd replace mine with them in a heartbeat.

I'm home alone and I knocked my screen out and it landed on the driveway and doesn't fit back in the slots
Doesn't sound good. So there are no spring clips on the screen that you compress to get them in the screen slots?

The clips hold the screen snug in place. If the screen doesn't have the clips you'll have to position the screen manually.
Thanks for the video!

Try a flat blade screwdriver in one of the corners to pry the corner out.
I love your video! ♥

I'm watching this to install some window screens so I don't have to worry about bugs, lol
Thank you! I didn't have the black tabs on some of my windows, but I wiggled them in anyways.

thank you. am college student and needed to pop my screen back in before i move out haha.

Yeah I can and I get the springs in first, and then I try pulling the tabs in and it goes in partially but then the corners hang out like I bent it.

If the corners are sprung a little bit you might have to take a flat blade screwdriver to get them in.

Melina Diaz has a good point, you need to tuck one corner in first then the other corner will go in.
I have window screens from the mid-1970s; they only have two sliding tabs that move in and out on one vertical side (i.e., on the right, when working from inside) and NO springs whatsoever.
