I'm an analytical chemist by profession and greatly appreciate details without verbal 'padding'. This is by far the most explicit, yet understandable how-to video I have seen on any subject on RUclips. This video should be the model for which other how-to videos are created. I'm sure it was time consuming to create, but the care and 'scripting' is excellent! Thank you for the explanation and the great example of how other how-to videos should be edited.
I work at a hardware store that sells this product plus I just bought a house that will need this. Very well done. This knowledge will be passed on at some point.
What I especially love about this how-to video that it is, clear and informative. The host isn't compelled to chatter about a bunch of random junk. Thank you!
so you're saying you're an incapable 60 year old woman and even you were able to do this? Great, thanks for perpetuating the 'women are incapable of basic construction' stereotype.
@@michelleharmond2363 well one thing is for sure, you perpetuate the stereotype of a triggered snowflake that lives a miserable life. You've come a long way baby! Now go knit a pink hat.
@@michelleharmond2363 She did not say any of that. You said all of that. She put some extra details just to let the creator of this video know, it was easy to follow and his efforts were greatly appreciated.
Great instructions. Kept repeating meysurement in my head all weekend until I went to Home Depot and got the stuff to build my screen. Got it done. Thanks for your help.
Your video was very helpful (far more clear and helpful than the "easy" package instructions from Screen Tight). 3 hours, 2 people, 1 cut finger, and 1 phone call to the company got the job done. Truly could not have done it without your video. Thanks.
Great video for a noob like me. Here’s a quick tip though for people who want the tabs on the inside of their house (on the same side as the spline). Don’t put the tabs on until you spline around about 1/2 of the screen (start your spline on the spring clip side) as you get around to the place you like your tab to go, push the tab down over the screen but before the spline-THEN-spline over the tab (which is now installed on top of the screen). Another tip, make sure the corner pieces have the hollow bit facing inward with the spline (and as shown in this video). SUPER PRO TIP (from a guy who’s done 4 of these now with 3 mistakes!) to avoid nasty excess screen buildup (think wavy screen NOT taut) try to align the pattern of the screen with the frame. I’ve found this last bit results in tight, well stretched screens. Good luck!!
My Hero!!! Thank you so much for describing this so well! I have a kit and the took but was at a loss on how to measure the area to make sure the screen fit the window. Your matter of fact - no nonsense instructions build my confidence in doing this! Thank you!!
Phenomenal! My local glass + window repair shop quoted me $120 to repair my window screen which requires a rebuild because the frame is bent and the screen is torn. I can honestly say that after watching this video I feel empowered enough to attempt the repair myself. Thank you!
absolutely wonderful instruction on how to build screens. One of the most detailed how to for someone who needs to do screens at his new home. Thanks so much for doing this video.
Thank you for the clear tutorial with some important key tips! Especially about measuring from inside the channel to the frame and using duct tape to keep the frame from bowing. Mine came out perfectly as a result.
The best tutorial, much better than the pros making videos with full details. This video does not miss any detail needed for making custom screen frames. Thanks a bunch!
Update: I did try to do this last night as our new house was missing a screen in the master bathroom. It is not a perfect fit but it's much better than nothing! Thanks again!@@Iscaper

Love this video...Thank you for the explicit instructions. I am going to use the info in this video to shorten my screen frame to fit the space above my window swamp cooler. Replacing the screen with clear plastic used for sealing windows in winter🤞I am a 71yo woman
Thank you! This was so very helpful! My corners wouldn't go in as easily as yours -- the struggle was real. But everything else went smoothly thanks to your instruction.
This is indeed one of the best videos i have ever seen!! Very detailed and easy to understand.I will be doing my home window mesh projects much easier. Thanks alot!!!
Very detailed. I was looking over the parts list from Home Depot and wondered how to use the tension springs and the lift clips. This answered my questions!
I really need screens on multiple windows. I was really afraid due to never doing screens before, after your very thorough video, I feel 100% sure I can do it just fine. Great instructions, great how-to video. I really appreciate your effort.

This was great. Thanks for providing this video. I tried using the very same materials from Home Depot to make a screen. But didn't think to hold down the frame with duct tape to prevent bowing; which was a constant problem for me. Thanks for providing the tip about bowing.
it's 2024 years later and your video is still better than almost every result I got when trying to search "where to get new window screens", how to replace window screens, etc. This was exactly what I was looking for, I guess I just kept searching poorly. How is it such a difficult thing to find information on? Thanks for the video :)
This was extremely helpful! I just bought a house, have lived in apartments for the past few years. All the houses I've seen in the past 20 years had new windows which came with screens. My house has very old single glzed wooden windows with no screens so I wasn't sure how to go about getting screens, but figured there was a way to do it cheaper than paying a company to install custom screens in my windows. I plan to do 2-4 windows for now, just so I can get cross ventilation going when the weather is nice.
Thank you so much sir. This video helped me and my dad out. Today we decided to replace the window screens on our mobile home since they were so old . Greetings from New Jersey
