1. Kaizen - Continuous improvement: change for the better and make small incremental improvements every day. 2. Mushin - Embrace the present: be fully present and undistracted. 3. Fudoshin - Accept and adapt: maintain mental and emotional stability regardless of external circumstances. 4. Heijoshin - Strategic preparation: be strategically prepared for any situation while staying calm and composed. 5. Shushin - Beginner's mind: maintain an open, curious and eager attitude free from preconceptions. 6. Wabi-sabi - Beauty and imperfection: appreciate flaws and see the value in things as they are. 7. Zanshin - Awareness: maintain a heightened state of awareness and be fully present in the moment.
@commentercommenting6963 correct me if I'm wrong but; I'm pretty sure 2 ( Mushin ) is about not letting the past or future affect you. While 7 ( Zanshin ) is more about the surrounding area. Example: You go clubbing 2 you're living in the moment not worried about the what happened yesterday or what will happen tomorrow. 7 you're looking around and seeing all the people, you notice were all the doors are, where the bar is, dance floor, bathrooms, etc...
Zanshin(残心) is a term used in Japanese martial arts and performing arts. Literally interpreted, it means to have an uninterrupted mind. It refers to being conscious, especially after completing a technique, of relaxing your strength but still paying attention. I think the mindset is to keep your focus until you are sure you have got it.
im scared of being judged. even today im scared of many things like being laughed at, being alone, etc... fudoshin has helped me ease my anxiety, thank you.
I find daily to-do lists to be invaluable for my sense of achievement and stress. This seems to fit within the context of some of these ideas. Thanks for the video 🙏
Excellent presentation. If anyone wants to further their development in these areas there's a book called Living the Martial Way by a gentleman named Forest Morgan that touches on all of these ideas and expands on them.
It makes me so proud that without knowing what any of these were I would always try to utilize these things to deal with life from being a teenager even into adulthood
This video is just what i needed to hear today as I have been stressing about past endeavors and worrying about future projects and I haven't been present for sheesh almost 10 years now. Accepting that is a hard pill to swallow but 100% needed, appreciate another amazing video
Try to have a little copybook and a pen in your pocket so when ever you wrote the things that won't let you focus and tell your self that you don't have to keep thinking about them because they are in the copybook I know that maybe it won't really help but I think I worth the try
And refuse the label a system invented to enslave you. Be DETERMINED to change and through daily ACTIONS you WILL. The first rule in this video. I bet they would have labeled more than one samurai as ADHD.
What seems to help me, though it might sound silly is closing my eyes and focusing on the sounds in my environment and listening to my own breathing, taking a deep breath in through the nose and slowly exhaling through the mouth And when I get a brief brake from the constant thoughts and music in my head I work on slowly "holding" that silence longer each time it's very peaceful and relaxing to me. I was diagnosed with ADHD a couple years ago and only now do I feel like I'm making real progress on reducing my symptoms so it definitely takes time.
This video is absolutely brilliant. You should probably rename it to THE 7 habits of REAL personal development. Imagine cultivating all these 7 habits in a measurable degree, you will be absolutely unstoppable in every endeavor. Can you recommend some books going in depth on each of these 7 habits?
Anime in this vid: Ruroni Kenshin, Berserk (1997), Akira, samurai champloo, haijime no ippo, Cowboy Bebop. They're all A-S tier. I think I'm missing one.
I got you fam, other than like one. Ruroni Kenshin, Berserk (1997), Akira, samurai champloo, haijime no ippo, Cowboy Bebop. They're all A-S tier anime.
I don't feel like Guts is a great example of Fudoshin, since quite often he is very much driven by emotion. A guy from a manga called "Berserk" isn't exactly known for being cool, calm and collected, especially in the face of adversity Someone like Serpico, or maybe Jin from Samurai Champloo might be a better example
In a world we're everyone wants to be an over achiever, I'm gladly an under achiever. Plus the constant depression helps that fact, I don't care, it's good enough, you want it done better? Do it yer self. I'm just here till I decide the void seems better, and lately, it's singing my name.
To America it’s over work because Americans are very lazy compared to Japanese. If you haven’t been to Japan go and see you will come back to America a little embarrassed
I want to ask you a question that may seems like hating. It is not. Doesn't it bother you that in few of your videos the text - to - speach makes some rather funny interpretations. Here for example at 6:58 Fudoshin become "food ocean".
@@statueofwisdom i understand that. My question was simply as looking for insight from someone who obviously aim for bettering himself. I am pretty harsh with my self for my mistakes and from time to time this bothers me. Thank for your channel and your work. I have read go rin no sho when i was younger. For a time i though i am following simillar way. The last couple of years events in my life threw mi out of ballance and without me even realizign i became different person. Without will and strenght. Your work helps me now to try and reinvent my self again and find someting i had and somehow lost.

I have ADHD and I can't ever stop thinking. Maybe you have an advice in mind because no matter how hard I try nothing seems to work.
