Cozy’s solo in this performance is so amazing. He’s so good that he makes me look like a beginner that just learned a basic rock beat. Even 21 years after he tragically died, we still talk about how great of a drummer he was.
I always listen to this awesome medley. Brian is one of those people who are born every 100 years. And only Cozy could do a drum solo with 1812 Overture, cannons imitation included.
Rainbow Rising. Oh my God, The memory of being an aspiring Rock Drummer and hearing Cozy Powell for the first time. Jaw dropping from beginning to end. Drums till Death.
Cozy always added a special element and presence to any music he collaborated in. He was a unique talent and sadly missed. I grew up with his music. I recall the first time I saw him on Top of the pops with his own band back in about 1973. I knew then he was going to be a major contributor to the music scene for those of us who could appreciate his talent.
Either way, Cozy was such an awesome, amazing, totally all over the set, perfectly on tempo balanced hard rock drummer. Racing was in his soul and on the way he moves around his drum kit.
Самый эстетически красиво работающий за своими инструментами барабанщик! Управляется с ними так легко как будто, играючи!👍 Очень нравится смотреть за его игрой!
Cozy Powell, Ginger Baker, Bill Bruford, Ian Paice, Carl Palmer, Jon Hiseman, Keith Moon JohnBonham, Mitch Mitchell, Joey Jordison, Roger Taylor, Billy Cobham, Nicko Mcbrain, Phil Rudd The best of the best
This tour was the best Brian ever played. Free from the shackles of Queen he had complete control over how he wanted the band to sound. Brian loved it, compare his playing to the last Queen tour and he has improved significantly.
Couldn’t agree more, as hard as it was with Freddie and Queen, I think this was the person Brian wanted to be on stage!! But you have to remember he was going through a lot of trauma at this point,
2018, recordando un CD que tuve en mis manos de este concierto, esta versión de Resurrection es espectacular con esta intervención de cozy powell, una delicia!!!
Was Cozy Powell a Louis Bellson fan? From 4:17 to 4:25 or so, he borrows the alternating snare/double bass piece from the beginning of Bellson’s solo in Skin Deep. I never saw this before. Holy crap!! Cozy Powell’ s unbelievable. Who let Brian May off his leash?!?!
@@ZENOBlAmusic You know he would sing lead on a quite a number of their songs...as in about one or two of each of their first few studio l.p.s...which were entirely masterful and pioneering as far as I'm concerned.
I remember going to see the Cardiff show, was very good. I fondly remember Brian standing on the left of the stage doing a solo, then kind of forgetting that he had to get back to the microphone centre stage, cos it would normally have been Freddie's job, and having to do a quick run to get there in time 😄
I remember them doing this live on Top of the pops, and someone had to follow this monster of a track played by people who can. The whole gig remains a favourite
Resurrection is what I would call Innuendo Part 2. Innuendo asks for the meaning of life and point of existence whilst Resurrection questions the aftermath of death and the ultimate fate of the soul.
Great Cozy solo. No matter what he was doing on the kit, if you saw his face only, he could have just been making a sandwich. Another master that was taken too soon
His posture is also so much better than it was in the 70’s and 80’s. Probably went to get some drum lessons from one of the top dudes to get him louder, faster and more accurate (if that was at all possible).
I’m a massive queen fan all my life Brian may as the same as the other 3 members of queen were all as talented and as equal as each other as it proved after the break they had then realised live aid the world and themselves needed each other and as 4 cozy Powell well this just proves that he was 1 of the best drummers in the world at the time it’s just a pity that the music 2 day is really bad plz bring bk the 80s and 90s when the music tv and the world made sense
here is an example of why RAINBOW was a super-band, it had 3 of the best musicians in rock and roll history, Ronnie James Dio, Ritchie Blackmore; Cozy Powell. and Cozy Powell here with Brain May shows his creativity and adaptation to a different style of rock and roll scene.
believe me, in the first Rock in Rio (1985), Queen closed the night of January 11 (it was the first time I saw Cozy Powell live). I never liked Queen, but I always respected the work of Brian May. Well, I did not want to see Queen's show and after Iron Maiden's performance, I left. I had arrived at 11:00 a.m., I was alone, I was 14 and a half years old and I was not interested in the Queen's presentation at all. It was past 1:00 a.m. when Queen started, I wanted to go home. I already had a faint in Whitesnake's presentation. I was put on the stage. I watched the show 3 meters away from Cozy. After 3 minutes, one of the security guards asked me if I had improved, and I in my igenity said yes. So he just said: Get off the stage !! lol
Cozy Powell 4ever Yeah you gotta love Brian May though cause that's Tony Iommi's buddy, just like Cozy was his best friend too! Iommi has Cozy's drum set @ his studio/house! 🥁🎸🤘
Cozy Powell. Genuinely one of the top 5 drummers of all time. PERIOD!!!!!!

I saw Cozy with Hammer and twice with Rainbow in my opinion he was the best, I have seen Baker, Peart, Palmer and Bonham but Cozy was the best live.
Cozy’s solo in this performance is so amazing. He’s so good that he makes me look like a beginner that just learned a basic rock beat. Even 21 years after he tragically died, we still talk about how great of a drummer he was.
I was fortunate enough to see Cozy perform twice over my life, never once thinking it would be the last...😪
I didn't know Brian had those kind of pipes!! Dude can sing!!
Brian is just magnificent🎤🎸❤️❤️❤️❤️

@@stephenmccann872 maybe but cozy was doing most of this back in ‘76.
Cozy beat his drums like they owed him money.!.!.!
Great Cozy!!! What a band!!!!
When the MC says, "MR COZY POWELL" You know you have just witnessed something special.
Either way, Cozy was such an awesome, amazing, totally all over the set, perfectly on tempo balanced hard rock drummer. Racing was in his soul and on the way he moves around his drum kit.
I used to call him Cozy Power, 'cos he was always cozily in the pocket with his grooves and he had the blistering raw power to knock your socks off!

That snaredrum sounds like a canon !!
Johan van der Neut that's the idea. 1812 Overture by Tchaikovsky features a battery of cannons.
Thanks, I'll get it.
Pure Magic !!!

I disagree, Brian was at his prime 15 years before this, he's not bad at all, but he feels a little more reserved.
なにも言うことがない、素晴らしい、コージー パウエル❤
Epic Cozy!! The Hammer of the Gods!!
DR BRIAN AMAZING MAY!!!!!!!!!!
Кози ... Россиия тебя помнит - мы любим тебя :)) С уважением Владимир
Awesome, remember this night so well. Lucky enough to be there.
Wow
Had the pleasure of seeing this sole at the Sheffield city hall gig, cozy blew me away hard and heavy,Sadler missed such a outstanding drummer🤘🏻❤️
Lucky person!
Remember seeing this live at
Edinburgh playhouse it was my first live concert in 1993 I was only 19 and was third row from the front loved it
Outstanding! R.I.P CP.
Neil Murray, Cozy Powell, and Tony Martin even though he is not in this did everything together in 1992 after they were out of Black Sabbath!
Those DRUMS !!!😲👍🏻👍🏻
Cozy was fantastic.
I demand a BluRay release!
Fantastic Cozy Powell saving the night.
Great performance! Even the little fella has his own kind of resurrection when it comes to the sweet backup singers.
So sad to lose Cozy only a few years later.

Who let Brian May off his leash?!?!
I saw Cozy with MSG in 1980 at the Victoria hall stoke doing his full 1812 overture solo, absolutely awesome!!
DAMN, I knew he had great backup vocals, but Brian can SING!!!
my thought exactly...
I know! And people dare say he can't or couldn't! What the fuck?!
@@alexkx8599 Brain could certainly sing, but the problem for Brian was that he was the 3rd best singer in Queen.

Brian's voice Is absolutely stunning here!
7:17 is just so powerful
the girls sound a nice guitar slide in the end...what an out...

SAME HERE! Sort of at least! I should talk more about it!
Resurrection at the Gates of Babylon..sadly missed at his untimely demise time today

Great Cozy solo. No matter what he was doing on the kit, if you saw his face only, he could have just been making a sandwich. Another master that was taken too soon
Cozy is the great drummer! R.I.P.
Rythm section of one of the classic Whitesnake incarnations? Powell and Murray?
that is definitely Murray on bass. Total beast
25 years.
Who noticed that Cozy holds the left stick not as he used to hold it in Rainbow era, like jazzy drummer? It is interesting.

You don't need cannons for the 1812 Overture when you have Cozy Powell
💪

Yea. Cozy Powell = God of Drums!
💪💪💪💪💪💪💪🇮🇹🇮🇹🇮🇹🥳
Where was this recorded??
I think Scott Travis of Judas Priest was very heavily influenced by Cozy's drum sound
Mr. Colin "Cozy Powell" Trevor Flooks 😢
Mr. Neil John Murray
May I say cozy does this and more on the OVER THE TOP album,......it’s what brought me here.( no Brian sadly though)
No one taking about Brian’s tone
Shelly Preston though…
