I could do this when I was 15 and had a drum kit. Disposable Heroes was my favourite to try. I had a Master of Puppets drum book. I had to sell my kit when I was 17. I love your work!

What it DOES prompt me to say, is that those who feel Lars is not the right drummer or a good drummer for Metallica as a band should listen to your clip here. This is a prime demonstration of Lars' musicality and how he creates the song's spine and embellishes the voice of the guitars with his melodic percussive ear. Thanks man...I've been following a drum transcription book since I learned to read.... but I know you are anti-reading and more pro-listening. Something I need to do more of. Learning by ear is the way to go, but I'm struggling with it. lol. Also, there's a real lack of sheet music notation available on songs for drums, so it really should all be learned by ear anyways.
I'm taking your advice and just trying to learn by ear, but I'm finding most songs have high tempos or crazy stuff I'm unable to breakdown or hear properly. What else besides metallica would you recommend for people to play in their first couple of years??? Thanks dude, you rock. Keep jamming!
