What the lakers need was a true shooter like catch and shoot and can also shoot off the dribble and a defensive and rebounding center with a nice jumpshot either 3pt or mid range.
They need to stop over paying young guys who don't know how to close out games and bring vets in. The reason those miami teams were so good is the bench was deep with solid veteran role players

The only real guy that has been able to play with LeBron in Kyrie. Not even Wade in Miami was the same. Kyrie was like, gimme the ball and step aside old man, I got this. Kyrie is the only guy that can make LeBron the #2 option.

Zach Lavine would be a better fit for the Lakers. Garland is good player, but he's a point guard that needs the ball to create shots for others. Lakers don't really need that, they have Bron for that. They need a scorer. A guard that can score from the perimeter. One that can play off ball as well. Lavine would be a better fit, and his trade vale is lower than it's ever been, so the lakers could probably get him for cheap.

First off I think garland actually played well last yr. You needed to see the potential of Mobley. I think he is a 20 ppg 10 RPG or better guy in way 2-3 season.
Mitchell is the best scorer on the team but I do think the next two seasons you focus mobley on defense and developing the offense around him and his spots.
Let garland take a more aggressive role for now because he is younger than Donavon.

LeBron needs to become the power forward of the team next to AD. Start being the roller instead of the ball handler more. Play def spot up. He's capable of using all 3 pics whether it's pick and roll to the basket, pop to the mid range, or fade to the 3.
Garland to me isn't a #1 option talent but you could use him to take pressure off LeBron and AD at the same time. For LeBron he could take over ball handling and for Davis he could also be a more volume shooter. Allow AD to focus more on defense. He is young so he also can be the guy you stagger with the bench instead of LeBron.
