Two small corrections:
1. The original version of Don Johnson's 'Heartbeat' was recorded by Wendy Waldman and not by Helen Reddy, so Reddy's version was also a remake, in contrast to what the Wikipedia article of the song states.
2. The band which recorded the original version of Robbie Williams' 'She's the One' was called World Party and not Worlds Apart.
Thanks to JMein13074, Claus Rösler & Christian Goergen for spotting these mistakes!
you should do foreign covers
No. Thanks. Very. Nice. Bye
Just put 1995 -2021 that covers the copy covers in entertainment movie to rap or pop . Seems like its all regurgitated

@@astra004 I'm talking about forgien covers of english songs
My younger years are continuing to be shattered by what I am learning with these covers
Same, in this case many 2000s songs fearured
ahah
Plot twist...Mili Vanili didn't cover "Girl You Know It's True".
Mili Vanilli probably didn't knew what the word cover meant
@@vicenzo2008 Milli Vanilli.......the Godfathers of Lip-Synching without a shadow of a doubt. 😂
They covered somebody else covering it.
Those suits weren't the only criminal thing about them.
@@TCDL11 Den Harrow got away with it for much longer!
Learning that “He Ain’t Heavy, He’s My Brother” was a cover gave me psychic damage. I will never recover.
I still love that song, though. One of my top 5 examples of why Allan Clarke is my favorite singer.
It was super effective
When I saw "Valerie" I instantly thought of the Steve Vinwood song from the 80's (You guys may recognise the remix of the chorus done by the swedish DJ Eric Prydz called "Call On Me" ) but that is a TOTALLY different song that just happened to have the same name
I have a been a fan of Winwood since he was in Traffic in the 60s so I recognized it in an instant. Back in the high life is brilliant.
I prefer the Erik Prydz version
Shades of "Conquistador" (and probably several other titles).
The Maynard Ferguson song by that name is not the Procol Harem song by the same name - but BOTH are great in their own ways.
two more to consider: "Cum On Feel the Noize" and "Mama Weer All Crazee Now" covered by Quiet Riot, were originally Slade songs.
Worth mentioning that Slade's debut single _Get Down With It_ is a cover orgininally recorded by Bobby Marchan in 1964
'Around The World' has blown my mind!
Same
What’s fascinating to me is that so many of these songs found new success in completely different genres from their origins! Shows how important instrumentation, arrangement, and production is to a sound.
Also a slight key change, tempo change, and the way a singer sings the song, can now make the song a hit.

5 the Bangles' songs are the covers:
1) Going Down to Liverpool (originally by Katrina and the Waves);
2) Manic Monday (originally by Prince);
3) If She Knew What She Wants (oiginally by Jules Shear);
4) Walk Like an Egyptian (originally by Lene Lovich);
5) Hazy Shade of Winter (originally by Simon & Garfunkel).
Manic Monday isn’t a cover. The Bangles version is the first recorded and published version. Prince WROTE it, originally for Apollonia, but pulled it from her and gave it to Susanna Hoffs. The Prince recording is just a demo.
Walk like an Egyptian wasn’t a cover. Lene Lovitch recorded the song, but didn’t release it, so the writer offered it to Toni Basil, who turned it down. It was then offered to the Bangles.
@@Ndotra Wow.
What about September Girl?
@@Ndotra thanks to Susanna Hoffs, I've always sung that as Walk With An Erection!😍
🎵"whoa, woah, hey, hey, I just stole a Chevrolet...I'll steal another one tomorrow....whoa ohh,... I just stole a Chevrolet.."🎶 That was my "cover" in 1980. Yes, I was smoking the "jazz cabbage" at the time. LOL.
One I was expecting to see is "I drove all night" by Celine Dion, it was a cover of Cyndi Lauper's version, which is a cover of Roy Orbison's version.
I remember the Albert Hammond version of "When I need You", AS well as Leo Sayer's. Hammond is an oddly overlooked songwriter AND and under rated performer. Dang it now I got to leave here for a minute to play "I'm a Train". 👍😊👍
"The Free Electric Band" ...what a fantastic song.
I've watched all four parts and was surprised by many (although I knew some) but the most surprising ones are the ones that have 3+ covers going back. Thanks for these.I ad no idea how many covers Rod Stuart did.
I knew he did at least one or two covers, but geez the number of covers he actually did is insane.
plus there was "Forever Young" which was sorta based on another song of the same name, or rather used similar lyrics.
Songwriters are the engine of the Music Industry. We are all to often over looked. Yet relied on for all of it
Someone covered a Bananarama original... that amazed me... the reverse was usually true.
Yup
It might of been steps last thing on my mind
mr makey mkay yeah
Thanks for the great video. One of the biggest hits you left out was Bananarama's 1986 cover of Venus, originally recorded by Shocking Blue in 1969.
That surprised me as well, I expected it right after the cover 'Young at heart' by the Bluebells, original by Bananarama. Though I might be a little bit biased as I'm from the same country. ;-)
@@renefrijhoff2484 Also, "Cruel Summer," a Bananarama original, was covered by Ace of Base.
Wow some of these really surprised me....great job as always uncovering those originals 👍
Fun fact: "I Found Someone" was co-written by Michael Bolton. Yes, THAT Michael Bolton. He eventually did his own version on his "Greatest Hits 1985-1995" album.
Fun fact: Michael Bolton's "How Am I Supposed to Live Without You" was first recorded by Laura Branigan in 1982 or 83.. Even though Bolton was one of the writers on that song, his version (recorded in 1988) could technically be called a cover.
Thank you for this compilation. I want part 5.
ruclips.net/video/hQ9czzEXmlA/видео.html
I don’t know if I would consider David Bowie a cover if he’s the one who co-wrote it to begin with.
Neil diamond's song I'm a believer is considered a cover of the Monkees song even though he wrote it.
He wrote it for them and they recorded it first.

@@Johnsonseanm That's why the comment says "original by The Beatles."
Well, since his version is different from the one by Iggy Pop it is considered a cover regardless of him co-writing it.
Milli Vanilli "Girl you know it's true" Me "That you didn't sing on your records? I know!!"
I'm sure a part 5 may already be in the works. Some suggestions may be:
Stevie Wonder "Superstition"
Dolly Parton "Here You Come Again"
Eric Clapton 'After Midnight"
Naked Eyes "Always Something There to Remind Me"
Barry Manilow "I Write the Songs"--kind of ironic
Patsy Cline "Crazy"
The Carpenters "Superstar"

Heart "What About Love" and "All I Want to Do Is Make Love to You"
The Go-Go's "Vacation"
Robert Palmer "Bad Case of Loving You (Doctor Doctor)"
Rick Springfield "I've Done Everything for You"
Tina Turner "What's Love Got to Do With It" & "Better Be Good to Me"
Huey Lewis & The News "Do You Believe in Love?"
Madonna "Ray of Light"
After the Fire "Der Kommissar"
Uncle Kracker featuring Dobie Gray and Dobie Gray (solo version) "Drift Away"

I was surprised by “Around the world” and “I don’t want to talk about it” are covers. Meanwhile the original “Everytime we touch” sounds so good, I loved listening to it now.
All russian young people of 90s know about the first one. Only the most think it's vice versa
Everytime we touch is actually by Mike Oldfield.
I doubt it. Moonlight shadow, To France, Foreign affair or Family Man are by Mike, but not this one. But it is in the Oldfieldian style.@@matthiascallsen4321
I love albert Hammond. He wrote most beautiful songs in the world. My favorite of all time is It never rains in Southern California and When I'm gone
I loved the song When Im Gone
Ого! Руки Вверх отметились :))) Ещё и с такой песней!

That is kinda ironic
If you ever do another one you should add
Phil Collins - A Groovy kind of love
Quarterflash - harden my heart
Michael Damien - rock on
Boy George - everything I own
Edwin starr - war
Gladys knight - midnight train to georgia
The buggles - video killed the radio star
The bangles - hazy shade of winter
Oh yeah, and Billy Idol - Mony Mony
The first recording of A groovy kind of Love was in the 60s, it is sang by two woman if i recall. Also, if he would do another one, these could be added too:
The Carpenters- “Superstar” and “You”
Peggy March- I Will Follow Him

The Bangles’ Hazy Shade Of Winter may just be my favorite cover ever.
See I can't get with it because I'm too fond of the original
@@collinbeal I like both - and depends on my mood which I prefer.
The lyrics for "Turn, Turn, Turn" are some of the OLDEST on the list. Check the Bible: Ecclesiastes, Chapter 3, v. 1-8. Author officially unknown, but usually acknowledged as King Solomon. whose reign was usually given as 970-931 BCE.
I knew the Cherry Ghost one because I coincidentally bought that and the Birdy CD in the same week without realising they both had that song on.
The transition between both versions of Heart and Soul is so smooth!
Correction on China Girl. David Bowie was on the original version of the recording by Iggy Pop. So, when people talk about cover means that the person who covered the song had not recorded it before as part of a band or remixed. Bowie was part of the band that recorded China Girl for Iggy. I noticed artists as a solo rerecorded songs that they did before as part of the band.
Fogerty getting sued for sounding like the material he wrote for CCR.
Worth mentioning that Slade's debut single _Get Down With It_ is a cover orgininally recorded by Bobby Marchan in 1964.
I had no idea that Maggie Railley 's original Every Time Your Touch had a cover ! I am waiting for the video 33 songs that you didn 't know had covers !
Though so many people who were accustomed to Cascada's version would not know
Almost every really popular song has covers.
With a good number of these songs I was more familiar with the original and in a couple of cases the first cover version rather than the most recent cover.
Excelente recopilación y análisis. Gracias.
There was a reggae version of Love Of The Common People back in 1970.....I don't know who recorded it.

Perhaps because they are more familiar but the covers sound better than the originals to me sometimes. Interesting video. Thank you.
i love the 80s keep it up
Alves Presley and Whitney Houston were really busy doing cover versions, some of their most popular songs.
Such a fantastic video Still can't believe I Didn't Mean To Turn You On and Heartbeat are covers
I always knew Didn't Mean to Turn You On was a cover. The beat is straight Jam & Lewis.
Mariah cary should've been on the list she used the song I didn't mean to turn you on in the glitter movie/soundtrack.

But he did not write 'One way ticket' :)
hope radio play the original song then cover... for to remember.. then to the cover to tribute to original.. love it..& thank you..from singapore

If you are going to do an another one, Please include Nina Simone's cover of "Feeling Good" because apparently, It was written by Leslie Bricusse and Anthony Newley for the musical "The Roar Of The Greasepaint - The Smell Of The Crowd". The first person who recorded it was Gilbert Price in 1964.
You are predominantly right, I didn't know that most of these songs were covers, but that's mainly because I didn't even know at least 20 of them at all.🤷♂️😂
I knew more of them than that - but had at least 10 I'd never heard of.

Simply Red also covered “Red Red Wine”. Neil Diamond wrote and recorded it first. ☕️😎
That was in part 1, though he used UB40's version for the cover part.
Is anyone surprised that Milli Vanilli did a cover? The way I.understand them, the only thing they did originally was their ability to pantomime.
What about Laura Nyro's songs? Eli's Comin', Stoned Soul Picnic, Wedding Bell Blues, Stoney End, And When I Die, and Save the Country -- those are only the best-known ones.
Bye Bye Baby:

"Love of the Common People"...also covered nicely by Waylon Jennings.

The song "The Power of Love" would be a good one for a list like this. The most famous version of it is the one by Celine Dion in 1993, but it's not her song. The original artist, Jennifer Rush, first recorded it in 1984. Other covers of this song were done by Air Supply (1985) and Laura Branigan (1987).
Is that the Huey Lewis song by that name?
If so, THAT is by far the best well known version.

I don't know where they got the idea that Pink Cadillac was originally recorded in 1984 when I photographed a band called Herb Gross and the Invictas in Rochester NY in 1980 singing Pink Cadillac up on stage as a cover. Who was the original? It wasn't in 1984, that's for sure.
No, they're correct. Pink Cadillac is a Springsteen original that was written around 81 for his Nebraska album; and then recorded in 83, released in 84 as a B-side to one of his Born in the USA singles.
I didn't know "Pick Cadillac" GOT covered.
Never heard anything but the Springsteen before this video.
Cited as having been written in December 1981.
For the fifth part: "Les Jardins du Ciel" by Jairo in 1980. That song is a cover of "Sun of Jamaica" song of a german band called "Goombay Dance Band"
Most of these songs I hadn't heard of before. Many of those that I knew, I hadn't heard of the cover.

So funny that The Beatles did a cover of a cover of Twist and Shout. Still the best cover ever played and recorded.
Just watched all four videos... I couldn't help but notice that "Friends in Low Places" and "Callin' Baton Rouge" weren't mentioned....
Garth Brooks had major hits with them, but FILP was originally released commercially by David Chamberlain. There is also a version by Mark Chestnut that came out a month later.
Callin' Baton Rouge, also a hit by Garth Brooks, was originally released by the Oak Ridge Boys in 1978.

Usually I know most things on these types of videos as they're tailored to things I like anyway but I definitely didn't know a good number of these were covers.
Omg thats an unexpected video lol. But not complaining because I always loved them.
Dang near the entirety of Joe Cocker’s career was cover songs. He’s like George Thoroughgood, where George took old blues music and made them a mix of hard rock and the blues, Cocker would take another song, put a boatload of emphasis and/or emotion into the lyrics, and get a hit.
The Beatles addition isn’t even hidden as it comes from their duo of “Past Masters” albums.
To love somebody was written by the Bee Gees for Otis Redding but he died before he could record it. So they released it and it was later covered by Michael Bolton
Since you been gone ? OMG !
King Harvest's version of Dancing In The Moonlight plays on muzak. :) I got retail employee flashbacks hearing it again.
Here's one for you, Blame It On The Boogie by The Jacksons was written and originally performed by a man coincidentally named Michael Jackson. He went by Mick Jackson.
I did not expect around the world to be a cover.

The 4th vid that most of the covers are better then the originals IMO.
Yeah
Wanna know what's weird? I never HEARD "Rockin' All Over the Word" by Status Quo until NOW. I thought Fogerty's was the only one. I'm guessing that different songs "hit" in different areas (Especially, then when radio was more local).
