    THIS IS THE CRITERIA FOR ONE HIT WONDERS....
    - An artist or band (who they are named as for THAT song, regardless of whether a member isnt a one hit wonder) who had only one song that truly did well on SEVERAL MAIN SINGLES CHARTS...meaning nations and not specific genre charts etc
    - I chose not to count an artists ONLY OTHER hit in that sense ^ if that other hit was a cover song. Therefore including them as a one hit wonder.
    - An artist having other great music, many albums, still touring etc etc is IRRELEVANT. Its just about what their songs did, and more importantly didn't do, on main singles charts as i said.
    Thanks, i know many of you still wont read this lol.

      Nice list - thanks! However, several of the entries are themselves covers (e.g., Mad World, La Bamba) so shouldn't these have been excluded?

      @@Demo-critus Thanks! Well not if the cover was still their only hit, thats how i viewed it anyway. But if their only other successful song was a cover i thought i can count them as a one hit wonder if that makes sense lol.

      Fantastic list. I’d question two entries. Goyte has had a few hits in Australia, I love his albums. I’d never consider him a one hit wonder. I’m Australian so I might be biased! The second one is Gnarls Barkley. One of their albums had five Grammy nominations! They had a few hits out of the US. Anyway, that’s my five cents worth! I really enjoyed your list. Thanks 😊

    I think this was actually a pretty good list. Defining what a "one-hit wonder" actually is is super difficult, and I'd even tend to agree with Adam Neely who argues that it's pretty impossible to have a real one-hit wonder in the streaming era since it's so easy to release just one song. There are a couple that were probably too influential even without charting to be considered O-HW (Rob Base and DJ Easy Rock is the most obvious example), but nicely done.

      @Media_Ranker  6 месяцев назад +1

Many airplay-only songs like, Sugar Ray’s “Fly”, Will Smith’s “Men in Black” & No Doubt’s “Don’t Speak”, did not chart on BBH100. This was changed in 1998, to include airplay-only songs (or "album cuts") in the Hot 100. Just in time for Goo Goo Dolls’ “Iris” (#9), but too late for Natalie Imbruglia’s “Torn” (#42).

    I keep making the same replies so ill say it here. To be consistent when defining a one hit wonder you have to go off of main singles chart placements in as many locations as possible. If an artist only has one song that was truly successful in multiple places in that regard, then they are a one hit wonder. If they have other songs people like, successful albums, longevity, big fanbases overall etc that is all IRRELEVANT to this lol. I also chose to ignore an artists OTHER 'hit' if that song was a cover too. Of course there is still some understandable debates on some of them but keep that all of that in mind! lol Cheers

    This is actually a good list of genuine one hit wonders. A few are borderline but that is unavoidable on a list of 100 songs. I know many lists have artists that are not a 1hw (Quarterflash, John Parr, etc), but you can go the other way as well and claim some band isn't a 1hw because that one other song they released made it to #39 on the Belgium disco chart.

Explain how is Kernkraft 400 by Zombie Nation all the way down at #88 when it is still played to this day in clubs, sporting events and ultimately remixed and used for new music.
