An important note for battle of Prospero Thousand Sons is the reanimated Legio Astorum warlord titan Canis Vertex was the only titan that canonical took part in the battle. The rest of the titan action was out in the wilderness between the 12 engines of the Legio Xestobiax Prosperan forge fane and the greater forces of Legio Mortis, who had their shiny metal asses handed to them.
Raven guard on istvan 3. Raven guard brought the Istvan system into compliance originally. They were pulled back for the drop site massacre because it was their success that had been subverted. The whole original story put out by Horus was the system had rebelled, which explained why he "attacked" Istvan when he purged the loyalists from the traitor legions. The loyalists thought they were putting down a rebellion.
Thank you very much for that overview! That was exactly, what I needed for my new Legions Imperialis (Ultramarines) Army. I have been a long time fan of the 30k/40k. universe but never really got into titans.
I am running Xestobiax with Thousand Sons, I'm justifying fighting in other parts of the heresy by going flyer heavy and saying that they are TSons who were on some of the ships in the fleet Magnus sent away before prospero
Brilliant video! Finally have a single place I can reference when trying to match Titan legios to legions. Just need the rest now, Knight legion to legions and Auxilia to legions haha
The guide doesnt mention the siege of Tallarn where it was Legio Krytos with Iron Warriors vs Legio Gryphonicus with Iron Hands, Imperial Fists, Ultramarines and White Scars
My very first and main army since i started with the hobby around 25 years ago was Dark Angels in all the game system variations (40k, gothic, epic, etc), and few years ago i decided to collect titanicus and choose to paint them as the Fire Wasps (Legio Ignatum). Nice to see them match up in this list 😀
With the whole Loyalist/Traitor split, it came down to how long separate Legio fighting forces had been fighting alongside their allies for. Individual Legio maniples could spend decades split off from their parent Legions. Legio Fortidus made it a point of sending back Veteran units back to Mars to mix with the Legion at large, keeping Legion loyalty intact by forcing individual elements to mix and remind them of the Legions core ethos.
Nice overview, will be helpful for a lot of people new to HH (like me). I’m going Salamanders because I originally wanted to use them in 40K before going custom chapter, and Gryphonicus just cause I’m basic and like their colours and lore. I love their transfer sheet from GW so doing knights as House Vyronii since they’re on the Gryphonicus transfer sheet
Play Tempestus in Titanicus and Thousand Sons in heresy, so I will continue the Thousand Sons in LI. The colors contrast nicely and I like some of the modern 40k references to old Tempestus titans on the planet of the Sorcerers.
Going Legio Ignis to run with my salamanders! Going to have to build some lore and figure out a color scheme. Might be sweet to have a blue flame motif for them.
Yeah also I'm pretty sure they were at The Siege of Terra too right? I'm sure there's a description of one going up and over the walls using it's ursus claw to grip another traitor titan as it was slipping
Im gonna run (Just like in normal HH) Loyalist Death Guard and from what I initialy read Gryphonicus might be good choice (Basing them on the idea of Dusk Raiders and they fought Pre-heresy together). Seems like neat color mashup too with darker Gryphonicus and lighter Death Guard. Weird they aint written on that chart but I aint that deep into Gryphonicus lore.
Slightly off topic but do the rules allow you to run a list made of titans only? Would be nice to know for people who already have a full adeptus titanicus list
Well you can play how you like, but officially you need to pick either Marines or Solar Auxilia as a main army, and anything else (including Titans and Knights) can only be a max of 30% of your points.
Once people get into it a bit I’ll see if I can just slide in to games with my Vulpa and maybe add some of the Legion shit if it gets legs. RIP Titanicus!
Just thought id mention that the warmaster gifted Legio Interfector ( murder lords ) to the Iron warriors as a gift and to the legio a "reward" they were then heavly decimated/Punished by the iron warriors their machine spirits driven mad and then they were chained to their new masters. since its not mentioned in the matrix a Legio interfector and Ironwarriors army would work well in the lore. I painted my legio intferctor and house Markabius knights with sons of horus though.
@blackbriargaming5483 at present im probably focusing on solar auxiliary, but I'm painting my legio venator a bit darker with a gray and white. I'm thinking white scars or blood angels for my loyalists. Venator is a minor legion without a lot of history that I could find other than they survived the heresy with 2 Imperators and otherwise focused on smaller titans like reavers and warhounds.
Thousand Sons should have Astorum as they fought with them in the conquest of Kamenka Troika and the Thousand Sons also recovered and had one of their warlord titans on Propero that a sorcerer possessed and brought back to life during the Burning of Prospero, so if you're only bringing one warlord Canis Vertex from Astorum would be a good one.

Love it!!
Great idea, I was going to avoid painting my warhounds until I watched your video!
And what's the verdict?!
Because I started with the 90’s staple Metalica I’ll be using them with ultramarines and Raven knights.
Fantastic reason! Nostalgia gives so much 😁
Tempestus did split, the main loyalists being destroyed at the Schism of Mars.
In 40k time Tempestus is the Loyal & Tempestor is the Chaos
Nice! There's a lot of lore floating in the back or my head. Sometimes it even comes out right 😅
And the rest were stationed on Orestes Forgeworld (As seen in Titanicus by Dan Abnett)
If you could do another video for the Solar Auxilia Cohorts that would be amazing!
Great idea!!! Harder to get schemes for. But good for lore if nothing else.
@@blackbriargaming5483 I gave up trying to find Aux lore and decided that I liked the Spartan helmet decal so I went with them lol.

Which really justifies all kinds of shenanigans! 😁
I’ve given my World Eaters Audax, Vulpa and House Hyboras for Knights.
Vulpa is actually a dark rusty red with purple secondaries and bone trim.
Totally keen!! Next up Solar Auxila please!!!
Solaria was with the Dark Angels for Thramas I believe

Remember Salamanders were heavy on Beta Garmon, so look up Beta Garmon. There were 27 Loyal Legios on Beta Garmon - I kinda like Defensor.
Also, the imperial fists fought alongside legio osedax during the siege of cthonia
Play Tempestus in Titanicus and Thousand Sons in heresy, so I will continue the Thousand Sons in LI. The colors contrast nicely and I like some of the modern 40k references to old Tempestus titans on the planet of the Sorcerers.
Nice! All about finding that lore hook 🥰
Cool
Would love to see one on Knights..
Going Legio Ignis to run with my salamanders! Going to have to build some lore and figure out a color scheme. Might be sweet to have a blue flame motif for them.
Nice! And a good way to differentiate from the other flame like Legios.
This is just what I needed! And yet I'm still undecided 😭
Which Legion will your main force be?
@@blackbriargaming5483 loyalist Death Guard painted in their old Dusk Raiders scheme.
@@blackbriargaming5483 Atarus might look cool with them
@forgefathervulkanhestan18 that sounds like a great plan!! Love it!!!
Legio Audax is solely sworn to Angron. Reading Legio Lore for them will explain it.
Yeah also I'm pretty sure they were at The Siege of Terra too right? I'm sure there's a description of one going up and over the walls using it's ursus claw to grip another traitor titan as it was slipping
@neilkirkley1500 there is and it's fabulous!
@@blackbriargaming5483 which book, I just listened to Mortis
At próspero the space wolves, legio Mortis and Luna wolves/proto sons of Horus fought together
They sure did! Custodes and Sisters went along for the ride too.
LI came in time for Christmas so it’s SoH and Mortis for me 🎄🎄
Nice! I'll be looking VERY closely at SoH with DG/EC/WE allies after my White Scars.
extremely useful video
What I love to hear!

I'm pretty keen to write some alt rules that enable this 🤔
@@mushymanUK that's unfortunate, I would've loved to see a regular army attempt to take down a whole Titan Legion
@@blackbriargaming5483 how much do you want to bet that they'll enable this in a future expansion?
Wasn't vulpa with word bearers long enough to have fallen to khorne and have possessed titans ?

It'll be interesting to see how Titan heavy armies go!
@@blackbriargaming5483 it wouldn’t bother me if I’m behind the 8 ball/low tier if I didn’t have to buy/paint more shit to get a taste for the system.
It’s humorous they decided to stick the “Loyalist” tag on the Legio Mortis forces during the Battle of Prospero. Hint, they weren’t Loyalists.
Yep! The propaganda and lies! 😅

Looooove it!!!
Legio Vulpa is Red and Purple
Im doing venator with my loyalist IW sincee venators personality matches a lot with the IW
They forgot my Legio! Legio Mordaxis isn't there :(
My take away - there are a lot of red-black titan legions!
One might say too many!? And not nearly enough bright pink!
Death Guard & Legio Krytos
That's who I'm going with, was wondering why they weren't on the list for DG as they're listed for Alpha Legion 🤷♂
@DavidManser I just think the color scheme would be cool, not contrasting but not the same.
I made my own Legio color Scheme.
Nice! Yeah the list wasn't a complete analysis. This will look great!
I'm sad my iron spiders don't have listed allies.
Who would you run them with??

Another purple legio!! Fabulous! 💜
@@blackbriargaming5483 I just though they worked well together and lore wise too
Ahhh…where’s Legio Solaria?😅 They appeared in Beta Garmon and the Siege alongside blood angels
The Khan was alsonat Beta Garmon so any of those loyalist Legio also work :)
