The psychology of YOLO

YOLO, a term popularized by the Rapper Drake, stands for You Only Live Once. What this catch phrase embodies is trying to live a fulfilling life which can only be achieved once you’ve fully accepted the fact that you are destined to die. Why is that accepting that your destined to die so important? Because our awareness of death ignites our love for living. When we love living, our aim becomes centered around living a life so complete and full in the ways we can take pride in. Our goal is to suck out all the marrow out of the bones of life, so we have lived a complete life. Our purpose is to live so well, that by the end of our life we have no deep regrets about how we lived. So, when we are on our death bed and death comes to pay us a visit, death is disappointed because all death has to take in the dried-out body of a dead man.
You Only Live Once (YOLO), in official psychology terminology would be described as living in the ontological mode of existence, an idea from Philosopher Martin Heidegger.
