Jay, you're one of the goats and one of my favorite top 3 body builders of all time. Thank you for making these videos and sharing your knowledge with us. The fact that you not only still work out at a high level, but you still have your health, is nothing short of amazing, and a testament to your knowledge of the sport. You're the best man 👍🏻
I don't care what anyone says, there's no side chest like Jay's in the whole bodybuilding community. If there was no Ronnie, Jay would be sitting on 10 Mr O's. When I hear "muscle fibers", Jay's insertions is the first thought that comes to mind. He's the definition.
I’d really admire someone who really COMES OUT with the TRUTH!! Just say that YES they are on the JUICE and that how they got their Physical Strength!!
I do 3 exercises for chest. - Dip Machine: I DO TEN SETS! Not counting my warmup set. Works chest, triceps, delts and upper back and is the ultimate warmup lift. - Incline machine: 3 or 4 sets pyramiding - Cable Flyes: 3 or 4 sets. At least once a week but usually twice.
For chest actually only 3 movements are needed. Pushing(e.g. weighted decline pushups/Incline bench) Extending (weighted ring flyes/dumbell flies) and diping(weighted dips). For the upper, the middle and the lower chest respectively.
A lot of people really focus on the contraction but sometimes fail to see how much gains you leave on the table neglecting the stretching of the muscle group.
think about what this actually means for how a chest workout looks for him: 3 exercises, probably 2-4 sets per exercise, so anywhere between 6 and 12 sets on chest at a time is all that’s needed for elite growth if those 9ish sets are brutal. i wish i knew this when i first started lifting. i used to do 4 sometimes 5 chest movements at 4 sets each twice a week and wondered why i felt like shit and hurt my shoulder… 16 - 20 sets per session is way too much for one muscle and is bumping up to the max end of suggested weekly volume.
Science proves it there was a study using twins one did reverse grip bench press and the other did incline bench press, at the end the brother that did reverse grip had more definition and strength than the other
Flat barbell 4 sets, incline or reverse grip 3 sets I don't go heavy because I go heavy on flat, 3 sets of dips lower chest. Chest and back arms Legs shoulders and core. Moat important thing u can do is core exercises and lower back. Trust me don't skip these. One arm farmers walks both sides and hyperextenioms Romanian deadllifts
Do this exercise 3 chest workouts at week 1 workout 6 sets 2 workout 6 sets 3 workout 8 sets Rest at least 2 min between sets Pause at the bottom 1-2 seconds for muscle lengths And go to failure
I agree and Arnold said the same thing about types of exercises that stretch the chest muscles and fibers to widen. I love doing cable chest fly exercises on chest days. My absolute favorite!
Jay, what did it feel like to be that big? Im 5’9” 160lbs and I cannot imagine.. I want to walk in your shoes for a day, back in the Olympia days… actually even now!
I cannot do the second one. Very Large disadvantage from my anatomy. Yes I have good technique I learn with 3 different coaches. Yes I am not a egolifter. Just the morpho injuring rotator cuff. Guillotine press is quite good tho. Not that much shoulder pain
Jay Cutler reminds me of krauser from Re4 and remake idk something about them just makes me think he should cosplay other than that i admire him for what he does
I only do machine or cable fly exercises for all parts of the pecs now. Superior stretch which should cause superior gains. Also way less fatiguing, way less dangerous and way easier on the wrists. Totally destroying your whole chest and still feeling fit enough to train another body part with high intensity.
That’s always been my go to on Universal Pecs Incline unless all the benches & machines are busy then pec dec or cable flies but generally prefer Incline it’s harder & requires more gas to really grow that ledge. Then Flat Presses followed by Pec Dec or Cable Flies n sometimes seated machine press to finish chest if haven’t done them first & then tris.
I will swear by dumbbell flies over the other variants of flies. The contraction feels amazing and if you have strong rotators you can go super heavy and not worry about injuries to the shoulders. Always finish off chest day with a good rotator cuff finisher btw.
Personally had some of the growth just doing flys, presses are great too but you can throw them out and actually get bigger pecs, especially if you have done mostly presses for a while the change can trigger new growth
Forget incline works shoulder more no muscle fibers above collar bones flat dumbbells ok peck deck with elbows on pad and decline cable or dumbbell press the best works whole pecs
And dips, don’t forget! This was a staple for Arnold Schwarzenegger and really is a must cause after you get stronger you weigh more so then it forces you to handle more weight but very gradually. I do these at the end of most chest days.
I noticed that Cutler and Coleman do a lot of partial reps at the stretched position when pressing. Would that be recommended for natty's with mediocre genetics?
My favorite and go too is dumbbell bench press then second would be my super set with pec Dec machine and cross over cables high to low . My chest swells up like a balloon at the end
I just started working out 2 months ago. And i cant seem to isolate or really work the chest. I feel like another muscle group is always trying to take over and compensate.
Jay would grow no matter how he trained I think, genetics were fantastic! I feel sorry for hard gainers and guys with weak poor genetics. Myself included
I got sick of having to wait for a bench or chest machine on Monday so I do chest on Tuesday or Wednesday and then again on Saturday or Sunday. I either don't lift on Monday or I do legs. Too many people doing chest on Monday

Weighted ring dips & weighted ring pushups. Job done.
I have been using these chest movements for 3 months and have gained .5 inches in thickness and went up 20 pounds on bench
I never really started growing my chest until I hit them flys. They seem to be underrated.
Me neither. I had a good bench press, but a small chest. Started flys and the change was almost immediate.
When I do flys, it just hurts my shoulder, no matter how light I go.
@@rarebit4430 try doing them lying on the floor. Don't overextend the motion and preserve the rotator cuff.

Incline press
Flat press
Flye
