Yeah....I definitely pissed myself waaaay before I found the bathroom...somewhere along the way when there were three of those things outside the window.
if you build the occasional observatory with a T piece, the Ghost leviathans wont attack your base. the game treats the observatory piece as a whole separate biome, where as the tunnels are treated as being within the void. because the game doesnt recognize you in the void, the ghosty boys will just swim around aimlessly, if you ever decide to implement something liek this with more regular tunnels, and bulkhead doors for reinforcement in survival mode.

I always forget that the leviathan in the lost river is a mere child, and when I saw an adult one I swore to never get near the dead zone. I kidd you no, I have played subnautica casually but when I can't see shit I fear for my life, I don't know If I'm near the lost river entrance or the dead zone.
Not that anyone asked, but I think the biggest thing these games are missing is the possibility for leviathans to destroy your bases. Of course, I'm not talking about a constant 24/7 wave defense, but it would force you to think more about where your putting the base down, it would force you to take them as an even more serious threat, and it would also just be scary. Like, I think it's weird that you can be made completely invincible from the planet-sized Lovecraftian nightmare that was just in hot pursuit of you just because you crawled into a tiny one room big shack of a base.
@@fruitsalad5036 I kinda had that they thought too. Be it just giving it an armor casing out of a stronger material or some other defense mechanisms. Like if you could attach torpedo launchers to the base or like some kind of electric shock generator similar to the Seamoth module.
I just beat Subnautica 3 weeks back and I absolutely love this game, however, this game unlike other horror games, gives me such anxiety when I reached the Ecological Dead Zone...Every. Damn. Time.

It is easy to underestimate the absolute size of ghost leviathans. Heck, the size of everything really. But you’ll understand the size of creatures in vr without a doubt
@@bubbyt No. The juveniles are only found in the lost river. the ones in the blood kelp forest and grand reef are adults, and the ones in the dead zone are special spawns that are significantly larger than the normal adult ones. they did the same thing with the chelicerate leviathans in below zero- the ones in the void are larger than the normal ones found in the world map
The second base I built was accidently right below a ghost leviathan lol building was incredibly difficult and I had to chart a specific course so that it didn't attack me immediately while I was trying to get to it
My second playthrough I wanted to build a base with a bioreactor in the Sea Treader's Path cause I just never visited that biome in the first playthrough (I was doing it blind and there just weren't any reasons to enter that area). I accidentally build my base next to a pillar that was the exact dividing line for the dead zone which I figured out after parking my seamoth next to my base, looking for resources and hearing "Maximum depth reached" followed by a wet pop as the Ghost Leviathan spawned behind me and pushed my sub to the seafloor.
This video made me realize how to air bladder actually works. You just hold it and it allows you to assend quickly!! I thought it was a consumable or something like a one and done.
Now THIS deserves recognition! Damn dude, this is some next level dedication. And you recreated it (almost) in Survival?! Holy fuck you deserve an award lol!

Honestly, irl any leviathan wouldn't even care about a human and would likely only harm them accidentally (be it while hunting their actual prey or mistaking a vehicle as prey or something like that). Maybe barring sea treaders if you annoy them enough, but otherwise a human is just too small for them to care. That being said, I do think it'd be adorable to see the ghosts thinking a tunnel like this was just a really big one of them.

I had a dream about Subnautica that had a void tunnel EXACTLY like this. Instead of the void being in open ocean the void was accessible via this cave, and the cave had a large opening on the bottom of the map that led to it.
dude I dreamed about subnatica below zero where there was this massive island with nothing and then below there was THIS MASSIVEE LEV, It’s Head Being as big as the giant island, and you would have to swim and get lucky tht it didn’t catch you, also had this dream where the shadow leg was in the void instead of the void cheli

Ah, looks like the last bit of the base isn't in the Void anymore. If you just build further out from that point, you just won't be bothered by the ghosties because you're technically not in a biome anymore.
I remember walking with prawn suit to Southwest from first base, i walking calmly with prawn suit, until i go through deeply sea and i panicked when the place i don't want to go, it's going deep until 900 meters and the wall of sea like a straight vertical wall without crawl stone and i see 2 these creepies

It's funny every time I see a video everyone's using that little water craft but I literally hated that thing only used it for 5 minutes the entire game everyone else seems to love it
I played subnautica for 37 hours and while they were the best, some of the most intriguing 37 hours of my life, I had to stop. I couldn’t continue any longer. I quickly started to realize that the game is just too beautiful and too cool not to be shared with someone. Not only is my creativity already pretty withered so I found it hard to get creative with the building, it shatters my perception and drive to even grind for dope looking infrastructure knowing nobody but me is ever going to see it. I hate when the illusion of a games beauty shatters because of this very reason. This happens EVVVVVERY time I play a single player game who’s focus is basically to build shit without any REAL story line campaign. I started to realize “nobody is ever gonna be able to check out my work with me. What’s the point” and then I drop the game to never pick it up again it’s tragic. The only thing im still a die hard fan about in subnautica is very much so the leviathans. They’re so badass and I love just swimming around and getting spooked by them
@@SweetZD Chances are you wouldn't have even been able to do this project OUTSIDE of Creative Mode, with the ghosts constantly hounding you, to the constant need for oxygen as well as food and water, then there's also the water pressure which would have required you to put reinforcements after each other section of the base you constructed.
@@cursedhawkins1305 it is possible to build this in survival, because you can build from the inside of the base, but you would probably have to put a section beneath the glass one, made of titanium walls, then line them with reinforcements. a nuclear reactor (or like five) would be very useful here as well

I always forget that the leviathan in the lost river is a mere child, and when I saw an adult one I swore to never get near the dead zone.
