Lots of respect for Mason. Kove is a young team. It’s obvious they are pushing their limits to make things happen, but it’s no where near a mature team yet. But they are nimble and doing things unconventionally too. Hope they let Mason develop the new bike. I would understand if Mason move on with Honda, too. Mason deserves a Dakar trophy 🏆

Agreed, in past talks that was a theme. The Kove team is young and it is an opportunity for a rider to actually develop a bike and team. The amount of work that Mason and the KORR team put in before the even was pretty wild. But it was in search of making the bike to Masons liking.

This was awesome,Thankyou."its not over till the fat lady sings " an old saying oh so true. We have another "bush mechanic"in Mason in dakar following the same line as Toby Price.I see a little of the same dynamics family wise also,so good to hear. Mason has the 3 musketeers + kove beside him.To listen to the 3 of them talk & give insights to what is actually happening is fantastic. Is it possible to ask Larry or Mason about the dehydrated food he uses,is it homemade or is it brought & what is Mason's daily food intake consist of during the day & whilst on stages? What Sunir did was a selfless act for someone else, he is a wonderful person. Hats off to the owner of Kove .second & many other languages can be very handy. 😁♥️🏅🏆🏍

I would buy a Kove Rally if I could in Australia because of Mason KORR team and the Kove CEO...

I can imagine it’s coming soon! But for those same reasons I’m here for it. Mason doesn’t pull punches and the ceo doesn’t either. Mistakes are made and the faster ownership claims it the faster we get to the resolution phase! What color or custom graphics?

Dakar has the rankings but Mason has gathered a lot of fans old and new.
Sunnier is actually on the safe side and Mike is correct, Mason is really pushing this machine to its limits. Mason is a different level and for sure the final of this bike will be awesome.
Kove is for sure pressured because they are in the world stage.
Respect to Mason Klein KORR team and Kove team.

Yeah that was noble of him and not something I would expect from a competitor, nor would I ask that from a competitor

Over here in the Uk the GPX range of enduro bikes which appear to be a sister company to Kove have started to get a presence due to a really good social media presence and a good marketing strategy by the original sole importer who I 've spoke to a number of times on Facebook over the last couple of years. He would run demo days where you could come down and ride all the range of bikes to see what you thought of them. That one original importer now has maybe 15 or 20 other bike established motorcycle shops who are official suppliers of the GPX. range.Along side the GPX range that are also offering the 1st gen Kove rally bike in its 2 formats again appealing to grass roots trail riders and amateur. Its also being promoted as a lightweight adventure bike
I think this years Dakar has been a brilliant PR exercise for both Kove and Mason Klein. From Kove's side last years and this years Dakar campaign has laid the rest the concerns mainly fuelled by keyboard warriors that a Chinese bike that's half the price of an equivalent KTM will fall apart in 6 months
As for Mason Klein.I"ve followsed his Dakar daily this year and caught a few bits he's done with American you tubers as well.A very impressive young guy
The Kove owner has a 5 year plan with the end game being to win the Dakar.I hope Mason stays in a partnership with Kove as if they hope to win the event by year 5 I'm pretty sure he's the guy could do it for them

As it should be, I agree with you that the Social Media side is key to getting the word out. It’s replaced the ad in the paper or TV and a ride day allows people to really figure it out and make a decision!

It's a shame an incredible young rider like Mason has to ride that junk. I hope Honda picks him up next year.

So the Kove prototype broke an oil pipe, Mason fucked up an electrical connector then after getting the bike going he hits a big rock and it destroyed the chain guide and they changed a second motor (probably) fucking up another electrical connector. Then out.

I hope a team that will fully back him picks him up! In your opinion what makes it junk?

@@ChasingWaypoints if your talking ownership; electrical issues, fueling issues, low power (has the power of a DRZ400 but the weight of a DR650), harsh suspension to name a few. Racing Dakar; well the coverage is obvious.

    • @ChasingWaypoints
      @ChasingWaypoints  5 месяцев назад

@@jonwoodworker Understood, all valid points. Splitting it up :
-The power concern I believe you are talking about the Gen1 bike that is available on the street, on your DRZ400 did you upgrade the Carb to the FCR and the E Header? On mine I did and it was much better to be clear she wasn't going to win a drag race though. If you haven't I recommend doing this! I did the full system on mine though but in hind sight my wallet would have been happier with the E header. I just could not live with the constant looking for 6th lol. I was happy with the power though, as it was plenty in the dirt for tooling around. I think even Jimmy Lewis has said that you don't need more than 40hp in the dirt.
-The Suspension concern, what kind of riding did you do on the Kove? Was it on fast graded road with a little bit of chop? or are we talking whoops? Its not a Kove but I have struggled with that on my FE501 with the 4CS forks until I swapped them out for the Bladder Style WP forks. It has improved but I found that if I adjust the clickers it gets better on the choppy rock stuff but in the bigger stuff it bottoms pretty fast. I just picked a guy and started adjusting it to my liking since it seems that suspension is so subjective.
-Electrical and Fueling issues maybe one in the same, dirty power to the fuel pump or injectors. But are you talking on the Gen 1 or the Gen 2 at Dakar? Last year I believe Mason had similar problems on the orange, ended up being the Harness IIRC. I wonder if they have improved their system. I believe the Kove runs 1 pump usually, may be a better path since I believe quite a few have struggled with the check valve on the Austrian RFRs. I mean we don't have to worry about that stuff since the RFRs are pretty much Unobtainable. But even if I was able to get one, its a known recipe so I would know at least what to look for and be prepared.
