- Janette Fennell, founder and president of the Kids and Cars safety organization, is sharing several little-known car safety tips for families with InsideEdition.com. People need to make sure their automatic windows and gears are childproof. Fennell recommends installing a carbon monoxide detector in the garage. She also suggests carrying a device that can break car windows and making sure that the trunk has a glow-in-the-dark internal release mechanism. #InsideEdition

Caine Phlegar that was the unlock the door button. The one for the window is a switch that u hold down to make the window go down and pull the switch up to make this window go up. So I doubt a child would accidentally kill themselves unless the drive does it on purpose
What do you think would happen? You push one side of the button down to lower it, and push the other side down to raise it.

THANK YOU for finally posting something that should be shown to everyone... especially those who might transport our future society in their vehicles.
There was once a time when I was a child (about 5) that my aunt (who is only 1 yr older than me [go Grandma {or Nana as she had us call her}]) and I were alone in my grandma's, her mother's, car... this was when electric windows were just becoming a more common thing... I was leaning out the window when I accidentally hit the "window up" button. If my arm wasn't stuck in the window with my neck and my aunt didn't move my leg off of the "up" button then press the button to roll the window down I would have died.

You think that's scary, you should check out 60s Mercedes hydraulic windows. The 600 Mercedes had a 2200psi (3000psi in sport mode) hydraulic system that ran many car features including the windows and sunroof. They were powerful enough to crush bones.

I ALWAYS use the window & door lock feature on our vehicle whenever I have my children in there w me; if you have a window & door lock on your vehicle - **USE IT!** For some reason, kids LOVE to mess with automatic windows, or really ANY buttons! #safety1st !

My suburban has door saftey where you open the back doors and push a lever. It makes it where the back door handles won't open the door you gotta open from the outside. It also has a switch by the drivers switches to disable all the other door window buttons. So only the driver can roll down the windows.

Clorox Bleach IF you get kiddnapped and put in the trunk then you can escape like the One woman who got kiddnapped and put in the trunk knew that it was there and she escaped and saved her life.
It would be also safer if you had a Car, which has this roller things at the backseats or middle( if the car has 7 seats).

I have the push to start ignition and the way I prevent from forgetting to turn off the engine is I keep the radio on. If I start getting out and still hear the radio when I get out, that’s my reminder to turn off the engine.

Older window motors have plastic gears that break/strip when torque is applied. This saves your child from a guillotine. Most newer vehicles dont have auto up/down on any other window but the driver's for the same reason. The ones that DO have it on other windows have to roll themselves back down when they feel too much torque being applied. This is usually on higher end models, because of the extra cost. Then theres the mighty lever. That one never fails.

lulu I Its actually recomened to weigh a specific weight die to the force of the front seat airbags, a smaller person could be killed when they deploy which is why it is always recomended to keep small children in the back seat

In my 2011 4Runner you have to open a panel and then pull a string to open the trunk, but you have another way out of the trunk, and you don’t even have to open 1 SINGLE DOOR, and it is you climb out onto the 2nd row.
My 2000 dodge neon has the trunk cable inside also.. So not just 2002 and newer

As long as you can get to it the metal poles on your seats head rest can be used to break a window from the inside.
I dont know if you guys ever heard of this, but when I was little maybe five or six there was this story about a girl who had her head out of a car window and her hair flew into an other cars window and they rolled their windows up then their car went another direction and since the girls hair was stuck in the other cars window she was decapitated. And when I was little I believed in it so seeing this video just gives me the chills.

it is a horrible experience being caught in a window. I have experienced this while I was only 5. I stood my head out the window and next thing I knew I was completely stuck. I kicked my feet around and I felt like my life was over. I was saved by my father and I am thankful. If it weren't for my father I wouldn't be writing this comment.

My brother when he was 5 once stuck his head out of my dads window while it was automatically going up. It closed on his head but none of us knew because we were leaving the car until my brother started screaming. Luckily my dad quickly put it back down and my brother was fine afterwards.
