This is the best music I've heard for years. I've been in such a musical rut both as a listener and a composer but this song has given me inspiration and hope for humans. I have the biggest smile on my face right now.
My problem is that the patch is sufficiently off-key to be very annoying to my ears. That's not to diminish Rai's musical abilities, I just wish the synth patch was actually in tune with the band and less um... whiney.
I've watched a hundred videos of Mono Neon playing bass... and just realized he doesn't restring the righty for a lefty. He just plays upside down! That's wild. Everyone in this band is so goddamn talented it's not even fair.
hendrix played guitar that way, lefty but strung for a righty, I wonder if it was an inspiration for him. Thats crazy though, I didn't even notice he played "upside down" like Hendrix. That's even cooler. MONO is dope as shit
My God, the arpeggiated keys thing in the chorus and intro is done by hand. I assumed it was sequenced and had some funky swing quantization applied to it. This has made my day.
Seriously, to be able to play a part with such loose timing so consistently without anyone else ever feeling rushed or behind… the confidence of all these players is unmatched. Trust, timing, such solid ear and feel from everyone. Truly inspiring.
One of my favourite tracks from this album - to think that you guys recorded this using live takes is nothing short of remarkable. Thanks for putting such wonderful vibes out into the world, KNOWER.
That intro melody feels so jarring at first, but once my head processed it I instantly fell in love. What a beautiful song, so glad there's a video for it out now too!
I couldn't tell if Rai was trying to swing the eighth notes in the intro or not...when Louis came in with his eighth note groove right after, we got confirmation that he wasn't supposed to swing them
I love seeing Mononeon in there with you guys. Also love Sam's protective eyewear, assuming it's in case his saxophone explodes (could happen). That piano solo was ridiculous on god. Knower remains undefeated.

I heard the audio from the album first and I didn't even realize the sax was in there until I saw this video. It just blends so nicely to create a whole new sound.
So unbelievably good. So much love for Louis and Genevieve, especially because they properly introduced me to the genius of Rai Thistlethwayte, who I only ever knew from his Aussie rock band Thirsty Merc. That bloke is just incredible, ran into him at a jam randomly here in Sydney and then went to Rai's solo show, just mind-blowing, he's a force of nature and it speaks to the quality and dedication of Knower's music that you can have cats like him in the band, and that everyone touching an instrument or a microphone is killing it on a transcendent level. Truly inspiring music, huge love.
so embarrassed that i did not even know sam was on this track until seeing him in the video. i always just thought it was some other synth part and i clearly never heard it during that first chorus with genevieve where it's clear its a sax. its so subtly/humbly mixed in, but it honestly adds so much!
It’s a very odd, daring solo. It feels chaotic, sloppy, out of tempo and out of tune at first but then you realize it’s deliberate and it challenges you to find the structure. Then the solo ‘comes home’ in melody and structure. It’s jazzy, it’s poppy, funky… truly unique and masterfully played.
Whaa? Did you record videos for each song? Seriously, put these up somewhere, I would gladly pay again for a 'music videos' version of the album too. I am ready to buy this album again in every format it comes out in.
Louis you're a damn GENIUS! How can you combine the intensity of classical music with such a HOT groove! Wolfgang would understand and appreciate this!!!❤❤❤
My second favorite track off the album. It’s so lovely. I didn’t expect a video for it. Maybe there will be a video for every song? Either way, I’m very glad to see this.
As a psycho-fan of all your work I conclude that this album is the sickest, most mature and killer accomplishment on your journey so far. Keep inspiring!
Real Nice Moment? What an understatement! 😍🥰😍 I don’t know what it is about your beautiful music like this that always puts me in a trance of both joy, sorrow and longing. It’s magical to me!
Louis cole looks like he wakes up and snorts a fat line of FUNK every morning. love the energetic funky vibes, but this slower grove is one of my favs of this album 🤘🎸
This song was the best thing to happen to my 2023. I love it more than I can put into words. The whole album makes me swoon, but this song... this song makes me weak. i've teared up at the end when the choir comes in more times than I can count.
One one my favorite tunes of the album, a classic R&B vibe and groove, beautiful chord changes, angelic singing by Genevieve and an amazing 'laid back , ma non troppo' piano solo by Paul Cornish.
Real nice track-my second favourite off the album (after Ride That Dolphin). Love the glitchy synth on this one and the beautiful piano phrasing. Keep them coming Knower
It's extraordinary. It's like total license for time, but nobody's allowed to have a stray harmonic poking out: super post-2010s mix. Such an odd flavor
My favorite track on the album! An epic mashup of electronic music, fusion, funk and choir. All through a ballad. No one would think of that except Knower!!
little else has melted my heart faster than the keys part at the intro… and the sax doubling to boot… maintaining the integrity of that funny little swing is unreal. flawless. what a gift this is
What a divine pleasure after spending the day working with assholes, and listening to all the troubles in the world on the radio, to come back home and be presented with a new and fresh piece by Louis and Genevieve & Crew. THANKS!!!!!
I know this is well understood by people in Lewis and company;'s league; but I am still trying to get my head around it: That lumbering and angular keyboard riff at the beginning. Like it would be played by a sequencer, but instead Rai pulls it off without a sweat. Was that swinging a little bit? It reminded me of Cakewalk for DOS when you tried to apply a "swing" value to the track. Some of those numbers were crazy awkward sounding. That is what it reminded me of. Also, was someone behind the beat when everyone came in - on purpose? Or was the one just not where I thought it was!? Lol! Anyway, enough nerd questions: Um Paul Cornish - his upright piano solo was tasty all the way through. Super impressive choices end execution. Mono Neon playing in the grove the whole time never stepping out. Solid. Love the choir, and of course Genevieve. Love hearing her front songs. Beautiful piece. Love it. Going back for my second listen now.
can't believe I had to scroll down this far to find someone commenting on the choral harmonization. My god, that ending. I could listen to that over and over again. This might be my #1 favorite Knower song... Incredible.
Genevieve solo stuff is insame man, kinda sad is not as recognized as KNOWER, it is soo underappreciated, Living Like I Know I’m Gonna Die It's one of the best songs I've heard in recent years, the vibe it's just amazing.
I gotta know-- Are some of y'all just doing multiple fit switches for these and they're all being recorded on the same day or what??? Fuckin love the videos for how dope the music is and for how whimsical y'all can be; super dope contrast and they're always fun as hell
I don't often comment on videos but damn.. how did I not hear of these guys before. Not sure what I love most about this; cool looking dude starting with a sick sequence, the instant vibe that just sweeps you up when the beat and band kick in, that sweet fairylike voice starting to sing, how sick the synth and sax sound together, the fact that it isn't shot in a fancy studio or the fact of seeing all these different types of people coming together to create this beautiful positive vibe. I absolutely love everything about this production.
Across multiple videos we now know that: Big band - squeeze dozens of you into the dining room Singers besides lead - don't you dare step foot into my house
The album that keeps on giving. I love how the effect on the synth line's attack sounds jerky in spots, like extremely dotted notes, and moves slightly in and out of sync like turn signals at a stop light.
I never realized that the staccato synth line was being doubled by Sam on sax - I figured it was a second synth. What a cool sound. Every video from this album is full of surprises!
Everyone looks like you just clicked "random" a bunch of times in a video game character creator and I love it.
Mononeon finds his way into Louis Cole's waffle house, and the world knew peace for the first time ever.
Mono Neon! Great groove folks! Rai the human sequencer - what a keyboard part. And what a piano solo! You’ve outdone yourselves Knower!
Rai and Sam both. The synchronization between the synth and the sax was crazy tight.
Paul Cornish: Keyboard / Piano is amazing on Knower's LP!

pretty much all louis cole stuff makes me feel this way. pretty amazing group of musicians in general though!! Very special stuff

@@christopheroliver148 the quarter tone deviation is intentional and a style choice.
@@ninjaassassin27Exactly, it adds a chorus like dissonance, I personally love it but to each their own.

As Elisabeth Cotten did on guitar ('Shake Sugaree' and much more.)

Jimi did not play the way Mono does. He restrung his guitars so the low E string was at the top where it belongs.

The sax dude playing that arpeggio along with the keyboard guy is insane, and those vocals! wow! so good!
Sam Gendel
Sam Gendel is a BAMF. I play alto sax. I tried playing that line. It's hard AF. Except for BAMFs.
When I grow up… I wanna be a BAMF
It's pretty easy. Just wear racquetball goggles and have Clown-Core-level technique.
You should hear him shred that sax in a porta-john.

Thinking the same thing, and to me they also released one of the best album in 2023.
I was trying to say the same thing but I'm not that good with words
That’s how all bands used to do it
All the songs in their latest albums are live i believe. NGL, Louis, Genevieve and their band could make anything sound good at this point.
Same, this track is so delicate and cute

They fly forever in memory
The paper airplanes off the roof
That we threw
Returning to my thoughts
Empty parking lots
A place between the figured outs
But no doubts
From one guess into another
