Dog lives about 10-20 years, imagine its a child who steel child for so long... Dog take a lot of time of your personal life which you will spend on dog instead of your personal growing. Dogs are good when you have a big house with a backyard and it lives there.. Even cats need so many attention. Those ants, are easy and no need to nurse. Just give some food that's all and funny.

What if you have an ant tunnel that connects to the outside world to help with ant colony expansions? They're probably going to be affected by a lot more wildlife and not living in a controlled environment, but I can imagine it'd be cool to see how far the workers can go and what they bring back for food/how they defend themselves from other predators. It'd be like how beekeepers care for their bees, while being able to collect honey/pollen that bees would have gotten from flowers miles away. ^^

AntsCanada, please don't take offence, but though I love spiders, relatively speaking, I consider ants to be "evil" pests that will eventually take over the world (although they don't compare to wasps for Japanese-sci-fi-monster-resembling expressions of pure insectoid malevolence). That being said, as a kid I did get the appeal of the traditional "small calm black" Ant Colony toy; I preferred my "Sea Monkeys" (brine shrimp), though. Hey, very nice work explaining and photographing this -- it was awesome how the focus was so sharp that you could sometimes see not just the ants' antennae, but even their mandibles moving even from a long distance!
BTW, you thought your "Antagon" name was tacky, but you could have called your series of tubes "The Anternet"...

Here's an idea. Once you move into your ant house, one way to get rid of the invasive species.
You could start native colonies and once they are large enough, you could move them out to antopia.
This would help enlarge the local species.
Good luck on getting rid of the invasive species.

I've been thinking about starting my first Ant colony I have an idea of possibly building a shelving aquarium at head level and then expanding tubes out going up to the ceiling with small glass shapes going in multiple directions as an art piece / spacious fun habitat.
I’m not up to this challenge lol but excited to finally start my ant keeping hobby this year. Black garden Ant’s, a lot easier to manage I think for my first ant colony.
