By eliminating Gluten, Soy, and Dairy a couple of years ago, I was able to completely heal myself. After 14 years of being on Synthyroid, a simple change of diet solved it all.
@@welshlady212000 i did not have your same experience. I felt the best I had ever felt because I made sure to only eat whole natural foods and not use toxic replacements or fillers. Drinking water and herbal teas instead of soda or juice, eating organic fruits and veggies, growing as much of my own food that I can, eating free range grass fed grass finished local meats, wild caught fish etc… don’t expect to heal if your dumping toxic waste into your system- Eat clean… really clean and try to avoid anything that’s not naturally occurring on Earth.
@@gracebaughan It’s a long and slow process but I spent about year (9-12months) cleaning up my diet and making sure to really reset my system before weaning off the medication. It took another 6-9 months to healthily wean off the medication. Be patient with yourself during the process, listen to your body and see how it responds to the changes. It’s better to go slowly and make it a total lifestyle change than to go too quickly and throw your body into shock.
@@dionabahr6113 Thank you so much that's so helpful. I have been going slowly but I have been on strict AIP for 2 1/2 months now. I think I am making progress but it's slower that I imagined so it's really great to hear your experience and it definitely gives me encouragement to continue on with this path! Thank you so much for taking the time to respond. What does you diet look like now?
I cut out sugar 3 months ago - no cookies, cakes, chocolate, crisps, high sugar 'healthy' granola bars, processed food etc...and my muscle inflammation is down. I am no longer pre diabetic. My mood is more stable. . Found I still need to eat carbs like some rice to help with energy tho. Not enough carbs made me feel like my chronic sick body was under a lot of stress - stress you just do not need and cannot handle. I went thru heaps of mental stress over all these diets - Keto etc...Not worth it. Mindset. U r a human being - u can eat food and not get sick. Just eat healthy as you can to start with. Cut our processed foods to start maybe and do not panic. give yourself lots of time and be kind to yourself as you figure it all out. I am still figuring it out.
My husband was diagnosed with a pre-non alcoholic schirrosis of the liver and other health problems and we did the whole 30 diet and when he went back to do another ultra sound and blood work, it was all gone! His liver regenerated, his blood work came back normal. It was a good plan and very effective!
I've been on a carnivore (less than 10g of carbs per day and minimal dairy) diet for the past 6 months, and I no longer have pain and stiffness in my joints, my knee arthritis has improved, my brain fog is gone, I have more energy, my skin has improved, my LDL cholesterol has gone down 50 points and is now below 200 (first time in 20 years), my HDL has improved, and my triglycerides are normal and the lowest they've ever been. My IBS is 99% better, my BP is normal, and I am sleeping much, much better. My FT3 and FT4 are now normal after years of struggling. I am eating the way our ancestors ate for thousands of years up until about 100 years ago. I am no longer addicted to sugar.
Interesting! I had the opposite result sadly...So I had to reintroduce fruits and honey and it's so much better on "animal based" than carnivore for me. Atleast for now.
I've been carnivore for 7 months. I'm just now starting to feel my gut in better condition. Before I was bloated, gassy, in discomfort, had horrible IBS and was developing hemorrhoids. All that is gone, but I've got terrible fatigue. Could be long Covid, idk.

October ‘21, my mind shifted. It has been a very slow process but… I now only eat foods that don’t come in a package. Eat and grow what I can. Doing everything I can to increase what I grow. I’ve lost 76 pounds. With another 20 to go. Everyday seems a marked improvement. It seems 2 steps forward, 1 step back. But a slow steady procession forward. The freeing of the addiction to sugar and carbs has been the most liberating experience. I drink only water, herbal teas and 1 cup of coffee a day. I can’t seem to give that 1 cup up. Granite, I haven’t tried 😊. It’s sad that I’ve been living with this disease for 20 years and only now am I finding any form of relief. It’s a sad thing our medical leaders don’t do anything to truly help us.
J Randel 2375 - thank you so much for detailing your tremendous success! I’m with you. We must try to get the word out so that others don’t have to suffer. I do share with my friends and I’m often disappointed that they don’t come on board right away but… I found that overtime, years actually, a trickle have starting to say hey can you help me? And of course I’m delighted to share and guide so we must give up the fight to share this information lovingly. I’m over 60 women, stronger than ever before more mental clarity, which was what I was hoping for all along. I’m at a super bodyweight doing everything I can to preserve and gain muscle for agility, stability and life!
I have Hashimoto am almost 60 and went AIP about 16 months ago. Inflammation is significantly reduced, weight is down, feel great and my meds were reduced 10%. Blood work done every 3 months. So thankful I found AIP. Never going back.
I went on a modified AIP diet (I eat fruit, veg, meat, and nuts) about a month ago and feel amazing. I think I will try to reintroduce nightshades and eggs at some point.
I did AIP for several months. I did improve, for example, I went to half my original dose of synthroid, and many years later I am still on that dosage. But I can no longer eat anything in the pea family. My interpretation of this result is that once my body experienced the cleanse and reset, it noticed the pea issue now because it wasn't in toxic overload anymore. I have been gluten free for 13 years and don't drink fresh milk ( I take in small amounts in cheese and yogurt and as much lactose free as I can).
I’m not sure if my thyroid numbers yet but for the last 3 months I’ve been eating the carnivore way. I’ve lost 24 lbs, dry eyes have healed, terrible itching is gone, no bloating at all. I’ll get blood work drawn for thyroid on April 17. I’ll get blood drawn on June 27 for cholesterol and all the other markers. But I feel so much better. I eat mostly fatty beef, bacon, eggs, ghee. Some pork and chicken. I eat no fruits or vegetables at this time. I eat plenty of salt. Two cups black coffee a day. I take electrolytes too.
@@americarocks3175 I have had hair loss for years because of thyroid issues. Sometimes lots of hair loss and sometimes hardly any at all. But since carnivore (14 weeks now)I rarely see any hair come out after I brush it. I am noticing new little baby hairs growing along my hairline.
@@darlenesnyder4083 Thank you so much for responding! Meanwhile, I think I am going to drop gluten , dairy and soy and just keep very few veggies in to ease into this.Thank you for responding!
@@americarocks3175 I’ll definitely let you know. Hair loss is one of the worst. I remember I used to lose so much it was embarrassing. Looking back I think it Ess caused by over stressing my body when running marathons in 2008 and 2009. Another time was when I was eating mostly vegetables and smoothies. I could run my fingers through my hair and tons would fall Out. I know we need good health animal fats. Now I eat lots of fatty beef, eggs and ghee, some pork. It’s a sacrifice but well worth. I hope you see improvements.
Was whole foods plant based for 2 years, 40-50% raw (pretty cheap because you're main staples are veggies, some fruits, beans and rice, and other plant protein sources). My macros were over 60g of plant fiber per day and over 100g protein per day.. fat macros varied, carbs were not overly restricted.. hashimoto's went into remission 3months into it, have stayed in remission for many years.. it's a great way to restore your gut microbes and lining. No short-term solutions.. always be in it for the long-term. Thanks Doc.
@@muchasalud2011 Same! After many years of WFPB, which kept me thin and mostly healthy but definitely not thriving, I finally realized the diet wasn’t the healthiest way to eat after all. I went carnivore 7 weeks ago, and I’m finally starting to see some improvements. So thankful! 🙏🏻
The only down side of WFPB is I hate cooking. I was feeling great while I was eating that way but couldn't keep it up. I still eat far more vegetables and legumes than I used to but I am back to eating lots of crackers, toast and instant ramen whenever I can't be bothered cooking.
It sounds like some think you are saying that the WFPB diet was bad for you but I'm not getting that impression. I would like to follow the WFPB diet more but I struggle with protein. How are you getting 100g of protein a day? I can't eat soy. I hope to hear from you soon.
AIP diet is super hard and I was getting depressed … I figured I was too weak to take this on. Thank you for clarifying that AIP is not sustainable long term…maybe as an elimination diet. I think your mental health is also important- I’ll stick with paleo
Grains are cross reactive with gluten as is dairy. I was on AIP in 2016, 2017 when I lost about 35 pounds. Unfortunately I ate too many carbs that convert to sugar. Sugar is inflammatory whether it's from honey that's bee vomit or maple syrup. I tried carnivore and with the oxylate dumping I added minimal plant foods. Plant foods with a few exceptions make me bloat. I take Thyrogold for my thyroid supplement vs Rx that made me very sick and on the journey of healing with diet, lifestyle changes. I possibly have CIRS. I avoid foods high in oxylates with Sally K Norton's book Toxic Superfoods informed my thinking. Thank you for your platform Dr. Childs.
Amazing..i got Hypothyrodism after my Pregnancy past 4 years.. n right now having levothyroxine 125 mg with no significant weight loss but increase in weight...i have not shown proper endroconologist but my my gynac helps ... with ur information i now feel to go to a proper endroconologist n get my check up done.. hope mine gets reversed n i loose significant amount of weight with proper meds.
I was also diagnosed after pregnancy and didn't accept my Dr's opinion that I'd always need to take medication and nothing would ever change. I even asked about diet changes but was shot down. It turned out I have a gluten sensitivity so cutting out gluten made a huge difference. I'd look into what's called a Functional Doctor, they tend to spend way more time with you and try to see the whole picture without just upping the dose on your meds with an "oh well" attitude. I hope it gets sorted out for you ❤
Thank you for your advice. 10 years ago I was diagnosed with Hashimoto's. Then it went away but I don't want it to come back so it's good to hear what you have to say.
Thank you for all you do! Your videos are extremely helpful. I have Hashimotos and am extremely concerned I won’t be able to get my levothyroxine or any thyroid meds if things get dangerous as we go into hyperinflation or end up in war on our soil. If I buy T2 over the counter (I know it’s different) and eat a Brazil nut a day and take zinc would that, in your opinion, potentially save my life. My doctor is a liberal and thinks everything is just dandy in the world. 🤦🏻♀️ Thank you for any input. I’m very scared about this as my body literally collapses without it. FYI - I did many of the things you mentioned and it helps a great deal. I’m afraid I’ll have to fall back on canned goods if SHTF. I have other friends/family members with the same concerns.
@@Betty, what about desiccated thyroid? This is what Ken Berry’s wife, Neisha took. She’s an omnivore and healed her thyroid and now no longer needs meds.

Just eliminating gluten dramatically improved my hashimotos… but I am ready to see greater improvements overall-so I’m diving in to AIP for 30 days starting today! I’ll likely adapt to whole 30 after that (I love eggs and nuts and seeds) I’m working on cutting back coffee, maybe eliminating eventually. I'm trying to go glutin free. How good are glutin free products, like glutin free toaster waffles? I've had thyroid issues for over 50 years & never was told I could control it with diet. I had my first ever TPO test 3 yrs ago & told I had Hashimotos. I've been off sugar for a while now. Not sure about leaky gut, what are the symptoms? I love cheese & a splash of milk in my tea or coffee & on my oatmeal. I use lactose free milk. I'm 77yrs old & making changes in my diet has not been easy. I don't have a full kitchen, just a kitchenette. I've been gluten-free since January. My thyroid dose has gone down but I feel lousy. I've never had a problem with constipation until this diet. I watch a lot of advice from nutritionists & holistic doctors & some info is contradictory. I only eat twice a day most days. I miss the convenience of making a sandwich. I miss toast or a bagel for breakfast or a bran muffin. I hate all of this. Retirement was supposed to be care free.😢
Sending you hugs 🫂 I would say to find a good gluten-free flour and make your own waffles. That way you can adjust the batter to your liking. I miss waffles, but I'm about to break down and make some soon enough. Ughh it's tough having to restrict and reframe your mindset to overcome the obstacle in our journey. We got this, sending you love from over here on the interweb 🫶✨️
Carnivore cycles sorted it for me. Do it for as long as you are comfortable, then just move in some good gut foods (saukraut, greek yoghurt if it works for you) and low carb veges only. Always salmon. I include cream, some cant. NEVER grains, never sugars, never artificial colours or sweeteners. If it's processed, leave it alone is the golden rule or grains. For me coffee was fine. Find out through experimenting. Mine is in remission after 10 years of carnivorish.
Dr. Westin Childs, I think vitamin A in spinach really helps and periodically fasting helps too. I now think it has a lot to do with Leaky Gut now. Vitamin A and fasting helps heal Leaky Gut and the TPO antibodies go down. On this one lady's comment said that she was sick for a week and she couldn't eat. On her appointment with her doctor, they already had it set up to do her lab test for her TPO antibodies and hers had gone way down from not being able to eat. He told her to fast for another five days in six months and come back to do another test. She did and her TPO antibodies were gone. She said that it had been three years later and it was still gone. She didn't mention changing her diet. I think by fasting a long period of time and only drinking water helped heal her Hashimoto's. I had been doing the OMAD diet which was eating every 24 hours basically and I saw the numbers of the TPO antibodies go down. I only did OMAD diet for a few days but it made a difference. One other time, I went on a spinach only diet for 11 days and then did a 14 day fruit only diet. My TPO antibodies went down for an entire year. I just cut out dairy. I have been testing and tracking what I have done and to see what happens when I try different things.
There's NO vit A in spinach and it's super high in oxalates that will steal minerals and create oxalate crystals in your body. I got INSANELY ill from drinking spinach smoothies every day for a year. I suggest that you read Toxic Superfoods by oxalate expert Sally K Norton. Life changing information!
I have been OMAD for 6 years now. Tried taking keto but the carbs have crept back. Need to get back to it but that was the only way I felt good. Lost 35 lbs. no dairy, no gluten, no sugar.
I enjoy the AIP diet, seem to feel at my best when I'm eating right. Cut out gluten and most dairy. I also found a zero sugar energy drink call ZippFizz. Natural caffeine, B12 and loads of other vitamins. I tried these, cut out coffee and other caffeines.. Helps so much with my brain fog and energy when I'm having a low day!! Thanks for the update info!!
I've been off gluten, soy, and sugar for 2 years. Went carnivore a year ago. Was diagnosed with hashimoto's 6 months ago. I still have a small amount of dairy in my diet. I still use a small amount of heavy cream in my coffee. Cook with butter but butter is rarely a concern to anyone even with dairy allergies. I did start incorporating more nuts. Still have issues with eating fruit it makes my back hurt? 😅 Really odd but it does happen. Making my own L Reuteri yogurt later this month to see what benefits i get from adding that bacteria back to my body. Going for more labs next month 🤞
In this video, one of the diets you suggest, short term, is the carnivore diet. However, I just saw one of your other videos titled " AVOID the carnivore diet if you have thyroid problems". 😞
I keep seeing videos say to eliminate ALL grains and dairy, but does that take into account ancient grains and grass-fed milk? As in REAL, NON-FRANKEN FOOD? I notice that modern wheat and grocery-store milk wreck me, but organic or even locally-produced milk and Spelt flour don't have any negative effects.
My functional medicine doctor recommended goat and sheep milk, and my dairy allergy was literally off the chart. Since then I learned that there are cow breeds, like Jersey cows, that produce milk with a similar protein to goat and sheep milk. Was recently in Holland and they sell this as "A2" milk, marketed as suitable for the lactose-intolerant. Worth looking into. As I understand it, It's a question of the proteins and avoiding casein (which if I recall correctly is "A1" protein).

Now I have so much more energy, digestion is great, hair is growing back, skin looks amazing, same with nails and teeth. So sorry, I am going to stay carnivore for the rest of my life.
My question is, when you are on a set dosage of thyroxin, if you reverse this as you say and start making more t3, wouldn't that put you in a hyperthyroid situation that has it's own set of miserable symptoms? How can one balance this?
I have not been able to reverse Hashimoto’s on either a vegan OR a paleo diet. I am going full carnivore now. I am off thyroid pills, but my TPO antibodies are still high (almost 3,000) and I am still fat. I am hoping to lose weight and drop my antibodies.
I got in trouble on the carnivore diet, but I'm dealing with a oxalate toxicity issue. I couldn't sleep, insane electrolyte disturbances no matter what I did with racing heart and arythmias, worsening of thyroid labs and so on. I literally HAD to reintroduce carbs in the form of fruits and honey and everything got so much better. Still dealing with the oxalate problems though, that will take years to fix. I'm eating "animal based", Saladino/Ray Peat-inspired type. Works way better than carnivore for me. Atleast at this point in time. Whole food plant based diet has been shown to reverse type 2 diabetes. DASH is also very focused on whole plants so if your doctor recommended it then may be a good idea. Leafy greens contain a good amount of calcium so eat plenty of them.
Hello there I recently have come across your videos and I’m very interested. anyone I come across that deals with thyroid (in person) are nowhere near as informative as you. having said that I have had a thyroid condition (not sure if it’s hashimotos I was never told). since I was 12 years old I been taking Synthroid medication every single day and I’m now 25. my father has the same and my sister as well a long with more autoimmune diseases between the 3 of us I have vitiligo my father has progressive multiple sclerosis for 35 years it’s ver bad. as well I recently started looking into diets and came across the carnivore I been on it for 3 days would love to say more but there’s so much to say and ask. any thoughts or tips or idk anything would help (on a mission to prevent more autoimmune issues or fix current ones if possible)
I was diagnosed with Hashimoto's back in February and my symptoms have been relatively mild compared to some mood swings and acid reflux and a goiter that was bigger in January but started to reduce in size on its own even before I started on levothyroxine in March ( levothyroxine doesn't work). I had blood work done the other day, tsh was 3.6 and everything is normal they say but mood swings and acid reflux still persist. I'm going to switch to Armour and start the aip diet with a dietician's help because I can't afford a naruopath or functional doctor. My question is do I have to stay on the aip diet indefinitely? Can I gradually reintroduce foods back into my diet?
Most people suggest that after many months, if you feel so inclined, you can try to slowly introduce small amounts of just ONE food, and give it a month or so to see if you notice any issues. Then still wait a while before trying another food, and repeat the process. That's how you can know for sure if you're reacting to that one food.
After 63 days on whole 30 I lost a half a pound. Didn't work for me. Not only am I hypothyroid but I have Lipedema. I'm just trying not to put weight on.
What is your opinion on the Mediterranean Diet only a gluten free version which I understand that there is and related community groups online recipes etc ? Thank you doctor
I don't understand the science behind the AIP causing food sensitivity. It's goal is to identify which foods cause issues. Do you have any research I can read more about this?
I also read that some people will eat the same foods over and over on AIP and become sensitive to those foods. You have to change it up as well on AIP.
AIP meant to be short term with reintroductions. If someone does it long term it can mess up the gut. Too restrictive. Lots of people never reintroduce and have problems
If you stop eating a food for a while you lose the microbes that digest that food and stop producing the enzymes that break it down. So when you suddenly start having it again it can cause a reaction because your body doesn't have to ability to deal with it. If you eliminate foods you should only do it for a short period of time and reintroduce it slowly.
My Hashimoto's is in remission. I think its because I cut gluten which I did because I had a toxic orthopedic implant that cases me to be allergic to everything. I have only eaten whole foods ever.
Great! Happy for you. What number were your antibodies at last? I’m still trying to find out what number you have to have to put your Hashimotos into remission. I also have hashi. My antibodies are currently at a 19.
Is there an alternative to soy … to get good protein into me, other than beans or legumes. As I can’t take beans or kegunes at the moment as I need to be in keto vegan at the moment .
I have a major egg intolerance... is Grass fed whey isolate safe? I feel well with a morning smoothie of almond milk, organic berries and a scoop of grass fed whey isolate (it's gluten free and lactose free)
I have non celiac gluten sensitivity and Hashimotos. I've had it for probably 40 yrs. My thyroid antibodies are no longer high, but I also never felt better after starting thyroid hormones as of ten yrs ago. I'm assuming that I have an additional autoimmune disease now. Actually, I wondering if I've had Sjogrens all along.
I’m so so tired since starting thyroid medication. I don’t want to take it anymore when it’s making me worse. I want to heal through food however I’m vegan and soy is like a staple for me for protein. What do you advise I do please?
Still has casein in it. But don't take out dairy unless you really think it's an issue. And be sure to add calcium from ex egg shells, bone meal or calcium citrate if you do bcs we need that calcium to bind to oxalates. Read Toxic superfoods by oxalate expert Sally K Norton. Your choice. Simple as that. But it's easy to go gluten free for me...but dairy....oh my.....I have been dairy free for years when I was vegan but it's not fun, no. Dairy is life. But it's my choice....I feel like I need it. My TPO are fairly low, 76. But sure...I wonder if they would go down even further if completely dairy free. I just haven't been able to yet though...And I feel like the dairy helps to bind to oxalates which is a really big issue of mine. I don't know...maybe I'll try a 3 month period but I'm not looking forward to it!😅 You can use coconut products instead but coconut yoghurt is 4 times as expensive, atleast where I live. And it's not as good as the real shit. And cheese.....gaaah....how to live without it?😂
I don't drink milk, but I do put about a tbl spoon of heavy cream in my coffee every morning. I only have 1 cup of coffee with 1 tbl spoon of cream. Very rare that I have a second cup later in the day. Do you think that amount of lactose will cause problems?
It can depending if you have a sensitivity or intolerance to lactose. You have have it tested and find out - then you will know to what degree you will need to eliminate things. I’m only sensitive so only needed to get rid of milk, cream, ice cream and some cheese.

You could research this--- or perhaps the Doc has some ideas on this--- but, while researching info for someone regarding Hashimotos, I was told that goats milk and yogurt are less challenging, and more digestible. Plus someone mentioned that milk from brown cows is different, and much easier to digest and less challenging, than that from other breeds like Holsteins...because of some elements of it's makeup. Don't know, but you could research this online. Also, I have seen both organic whole milk and whole milk yogurt that advertises it is A2 (A1 free) from a dairy in California. Don't know if this helps to reduce dairy reactions....Probably other dairies in other parts of the country also produce such. I have had the yogurt and it was delicious and seemed more digestible, though that's just my opinion. But wanted to try it out before recommending to my friend and I wish I had some article comparing various types of milks and yogurts for people with Hasimotos. It is organic and not homogenized. I have wondered if some of the problems with milk in general, and even some cow's yogurts, are also because the milk is from stressed, nonpastured cows fed a lot of grains and not raised organically. Anyways, hope this is helpful and that there is some healthy way to still incorporate milk or yogurt or kefir.
Hi Dr. Childs, I have been on dessicated Thyroid medicine since about 7 years to treat the hypothyroidism secondary to Hashimoto. Do you think it's possible to reverse it now after all these years?
My TPO numbers are 98.3. Saw endocrinologist, because I've gained 20lbs in a month and an additional 25 since. No lifestyle change, always struggled gaining weight then boom! TSH levels slightly elevated, all others in range. Dr told me nothing is wrong, my TPO numbers would have to be 5000 to cause me to gain weight. I've got 2 other autoimmune conditions. I don't know what else to do. It's been a year and half of working out, haven't lost not even 1/2lb.
I too had a TOP number of 232. Weight has been issue as well with no lifestyle change just aging. Dr is not very helpful at all and I had to prove that I needed to see an Endocrinologist. Finally did but not much help at all. Gee, do you think I’m frustrated?
By eliminating Gluten, Soy, and Dairy a couple of years ago, I was able to completely heal myself. After 14 years of being on Synthyroid, a simple change of diet solved it all.
I find when I give up gluten and dairy I feel nervous and hungry no matter how much I eat, did that happen to you?
Thanks for sharing your experience. How long from starting did this take to be able to come off medication?
I am still figuring it out.
did you cut sugar off completely or did you allow yourself to indulge sometimes (e.g. birthday)?

I’ve been on it for a month. It’s been hard but my rosacea and body aches are gone.
An important part of AIP is reintroducing foods little by little. Too restrictive long term. Bad things can happen if done too long without reintros

I'm GF, Soy Free and Dairy free for a month now and I've noticed the difference the first 2weeks! I can't wait to see how much more change is to come.
What difference did you see?

It's a great starting point.
I did. I also went grain free and I’m so surprised that my rosacea/acne is gone. My body aches are gone. And my Iron is FINALLY going up!
How are you doing after removing all of that? Any difference?

Hashimoto's is autoimmune. It sounds like all you have to do is remove the things you have hypersensitivity to, and you reduce the autoimmune disease.
@sourgrapes7301,
That sounds like it! Thank you🙏🌹
Was whole foods plant based for 2 years, 40-50% raw (pretty cheap because you're main staples are veggies, some fruits, beans and rice, and other plant protein sources). Thanks Doc.
That ruined my health aswell. 10 years of wfpb eating made me incredibly ill and oxalate poisoned.

Same!
@@FM-qm5xs that’s not too bad, sometimes those processed ramens can create inflammation… but trust your body and intuition. That sounds fine
I like you. You seem very unbiased. I respect that.
Childs.

I hope it gets sorted out for you ❤
My doctor told me soy was the most heavily sprayed crop in the US and I should always avoid it. I had cancer at the time of this advice.

Thank you for all you do! Your videos are extremely helpful. I have Hashimotos and am extremely concerned I won’t be able to get my levothyroxine or any thyroid meds if things get dangerous as we go into hyperinflation or end up in war on our soil. My doctor is a liberal and thinks everything is just dandy in the world. 🤦🏻♀️ Thank you for any input. I’m very scared about this as my body literally collapses without it.
Does yoghurt, kefir, butter etc. Contain lactose? Should it be avoided?
You can't absorb the vitamin A from spinach.
Great information thank you! 🇬🇧
You miss an important point on overly restrictive diets which is that you don’t always get all the nutrients you really need.
Thanks Dr C. ... gluten free first and then carnivore diet helped me.
Glad to hear it!

I tried to skip dairy sometimes and I always got severe stomach ache. I need it to calm my stomach.
I have been recommended to use Soy Isoflavones for menopausal heat flashes - are these included in the no soy diet for my hashimoto???
Thank you! Is organic coffee ok or is it better to not do coffee? What do you think about Kichava? I'm tempted to try it.
I recommend against coffee.
@@drwestinchilds THANK YOU SO MUCH!
@@drwestinchilds As much as I miss it, I agree. My ferritin is finally going up after removing coffee and chocolate.

I have thyroid problems but not Hashimotos. Recently, I was diagnosed with CKD. I have excessive protein in my urine so I have to severely limit protein in my diet. I have no problem with eliminating soy from my diet. As a breast cancer survivor, I have been advised to stay away from soy. I also have diabetes. Many gluten free foods are higher in carbs than are good for me. I really like yogurt and most cheeses although I have reduced the amounts I eat.
Because my blood pressure is all over the place, ranging from normal to elevated to high, I have been told to follow the DASH Diet. I have eliminated most processed food from my diet.
A few weeks ago I was diagnosed with osteoarthritis in both hips. I haven't explored diets for that yet.
Can you recommend any diets that will help with my multiple problems?
CARNIVORE all the way! Dr. Ken Berry, Kelly Hogan, among others on RUclips.

Please look into protein myths. From what I’m learning, unless you have stage 4 CKD, a high protein diet will actually help your kidneys. Maria Emmerich has info. 🔍 her name and protein myths. ❤
Whole food plant based diet has been shown to reverse type 2 diabetes. DASH is also very focused on whole plants so if your doctor recommended it then may be a good idea. Leafy greens contain a good amount of calcium so eat plenty of them.
Hi, I have heard the same. It is a myth that protein is bad for kidneys. Check out Ken Berry. B@@PeaceIsJesusChrist
Can I follow ketogenic diet?
Carnivore for four months…have had to lower thyroid hormones
Are ALL dairy products bad? What about yogurt, kefir, raw cheese?
My TPO antibodies are 1000... but TGG antibodies are normal. Should I still avoid gluten?
After 63 days on whole 30 I lost a half a pound. Didn't work for me. Not only am I hypothyroid but I have Lipedema. I'm just trying not to put weight on.
Low FODMAP and Mediterranean minus gluten and dairy worth considering also.
Thank you so very much for all your videos Dr. Westin Child. They are all so appreciated! 🙏❤️Nina from Norway
Will this work the same if i have hashimotos and my thyroid was removed because of cancer. I also don't make my own calcium anymore
You can look into oral tolerance for more information.
@@michellev2630 if you repair your gut, will you still experience food sensitivities?
I have hypothyroidism, hashimoto's and graves..what diet is good for me
Does raw dairy count?
Very low volume! TURN IT UP ! 👀
I’m so so tired since starting thyroid medication. I don’t want to take it anymore when it’s making me worse. I want to heal through food however I’m vegan and soy is like a staple for me for protein. What do you advise I do please?
Thank you
What about lactose free milk?
Still has casein in it. But don't take out dairy unless you really think it's an issue. And be sure to add calcium from ex egg shells, bone meal or calcium citrate if you do bcs we need that calcium to bind to oxalates. Read Toxic superfoods by oxalate expert Sally K Norton. Life changing information!
Are you also saying no eggs for Hashimotos pts?
I had a food sensitivity test done and I react highly to egg whites but not egg yolks. I cut out eggs all together. I miss them though. 😢
I eat eggs everyday. Just depends on if you are sensitive. Free range organic worth considering
Should I eliminate dairy or gluten for good if I have hashimotos ?
Yes.
DAng
I’ve read some people have put their Hashi’s in remission and still consume dairy. Not all hope is lost.
It depends on the individual. If you don't your dose may just need to be higher. And Hashimotos maybe stronger
How do you lose weight with hashimotos?
Intermitten fasting
what if you absolutely love dairy and gluten and find most foods pointless without them:/
Your choice. And cheese.....gaaah....how to live without it?😂
Hi guys, had my thyroid removed 12 years ago and am on NP thyroid. Why would both tsh and t4 be low?
T3 is high with NP. Getting NDT dialed in takes time. Make sure you are checking FT4 and FT3, not total T4.
@@astroblast9352 thank you
@@sabinah5136 best case FT4 and FT3 mid to 3/4 range.
I don't drink milk, but I do put about a tbl spoon of heavy cream in my coffee every morning. I only have 1 cup of coffee with 1 tbl spoon of cream. Very rare that I have a second cup later in the day. Do you think that amount of lactose will cause problems?
No, I really don't think that's an issue to worry about.
My thyroid is elevated. What does that mean?
Does dairy include kefir and yogurt?

Yes. But there's coconut milk kefir and almond, coconut, cashew yoghurt alternatives available these days.
Hi Dr. Childs, I have been on dessicated Thyroid medicine since about 7 years to treat the hypothyroidism secondary to Hashimoto. Do you think it's possible to reverse it now after all these years?
What a good video
My TPO numbers are 98.3. Saw endocrinologist, because I've gained 20lbs in a month and an additional 25 since. No lifestyle change, always struggled gaining weight then boom! TSH levels slightly elevated, all others in range. Dr told me nothing is wrong, my TPO numbers would have to be 5000 to cause me to gain weight. I've got 2 other autoimmune conditions. I don't know what else to do. It's been a year and half of working out, haven't lost not even 1/2lb.
TPO antibodies mostly mean you have hashimotos. 98 pretty good actually. Hypothyroidism is the bigger concern. How much is Slightly elevated?
I too had a TOP number of 232. Weight has been issue as well with no lifestyle change just aging. Dr is not very helpful at all and I had to prove that I needed to see an Endocrinologist. Finally did but not much help at all. Gee, do you think I’m frustrated?
Sir, please help me. I am on 60 mcg and I am constipated. When I increase the dose, it feels as if I am hyper. What should I do?

Eat less than 20 carbs per day with mostly healthy MCT, avocado, ghee and EVOO with lots of avocados, and veggies. Meats grass fed or wild caught.
I started dairy free, gluten free and soy free and I feel bloated all day long. Why is that ?
