Joel (Jim Carrey) is stunned to discover that his girlfriend, Clementine (Kate Winslet), has had their tumultuous relationship erased from her mind. Out of desperation, he contacts the inventor of the process, Dr. Howard Mierzwiak (Tom Wilkinson), to get the same treatment. But as his memories of Clementine begin to fade, Joel suddenly realizes how much he still loves her.

my favourite film, such an underrated performance by everyone especially jim carrey! usually plays wild goofy characters, but he shows so much range playing a boring "normal" guy. the droning voice and the way he stands. how did we not get any nominations?
It's an extraordinary heartbreaking movie. The behaviors of his friends reveal they know more than he does and of course the reveal at the end answers all questions.
