Sorry for the weird jumpiness at the beginning... I had plugged our online site and due to recent RUclips policy, I had to edit that part out, which you just hear the tail end of. It looks like botched editing but its the best I could do without deleting the video and re-uploading it. Thanks for watching!

@@rokaine7334 the 40 caliber Glocks have an increased likelihood of jamming if you mount a flashlight on the Generation 3 also there are issues with the ejector many times on even the 9 mmm. Also extraction is terrible because it'll fling brass towards your head even if you don't limp wrist sometimes. They're also not as accurate as generation 5 Barrel.

Is the Gen 3, more reliable or more superior? My ONLY concern with the Gen 3 is the grip and lack of texture that the Gen 4s have. I refuse to use talon grips. I’ll have to use as is or with a Hogue grip. I’m not worried about a dual recoil spring for a 9mm. I’ve never heard of ejection issues with a Gen 3.

The nDLC is a Nitride treatment and then a Diamond Like Coating (DLC) over the nitride, which makes for a very durable finish. Nitride goes on Clear. Tenifer, Melonite, is simply a Nitride treatment that's trademarked due to proprietary blend. Also, Nitride is usually QPQ which is a Quench, Polish and then Quench again to provide that super slick feel to it. Nitride actually bonds at a molecular level with the substrate (outer most layer) of the metal. Nitride is not a coating or plating per se. It's a metal treatment that fuses with the outer layer of the metal...creating a very strong hard case equaling about 68-72 RHc...which is extremely hard. Both DLC and Nitride have been around for quite some time. However both are relatively new to being used in the firearms industry. Most companies who use Nitride (infusion of Nitrogen and Carbon) will Black Oxide over the Nitride due to the treatment goes on clear. Hope this helps some of you out.

    C. Fire control group redesign (similar to that of the glock 43)

First I must say I you are an amazing speaker and kept my interest throughout this entire video. Thank you for your excellent comparison and explanation of the Glock generations.
My comments are regarding the number of pins on Glocks. Let me add now that I am a Glock Armorer. Many years ago Glock made it known that the single block pin models in calibers higher than the 9mm, we're experiencing "stress difficulties " while there were little or no problems in 9mm. With that I believe they decided to add the 2nd block pin. So here now it is my belief that you won't be seeing the generation 5 in any other calibers than 9mm. I haven't read other commentary here yet because I didn't want to lose my thoughts. So forgive me if another has already explained the reasoning. Maybe it would be safer to say no other model gen 5 than 17 or 19 at this time. This is my best guess at Glocks tactics. Thanks for your time.

    • @rickbowen6929
      @rickbowen6929 6 лет назад +2

Yes Mike, that is what I am seeing as well. As an armorer myself, I can't tell you how many Glocks I have had to repair for locking block rebound impact issues. It causes the top of the block to be peened over by the bottom of the slide, and eventually causes malfunctions. All of this is caused and directly related to the lightweight frame itself, and the inability of the human wrist to completely control the muzzle flip, no matter how big or strong you think you are. It's pure physics. You would think all those brilliant engineers at Glock that copied the Keltec design and named it Glock, would have sense enough to see this. If the Glock were made with a metal frame, it would be a nice weapon. I have fun getting a rise out of all the Glock fans at the range when they show me their pistols. I say, "Nice Keltec you have there." ...It sends them off into fits. Ha ha.

When this is the case I'll wrestle on a Houge grip an be careful the rubberized grip does not catch my clothing during a draw, which is almost never an issue. I always depend on a firm, tight grip and never want a slippery Gun. Glad you brought up the issue.

If it was perfect we would all have gen 1s. Gen 3 is as close as they could get.....but they refused to remove the finger groves. How difficult could it be to make a removable front strap with finger groves?.....
Thats right the thing is perfect; that is why we upgrade the trigger, change the sights, shave off the finger grooves, sand down the back strap, cut slide serration in the slide....did I forget anything? Oh extended slide locks, re stippled grips and shave memory indexes(gas pedals) into the polymer......PS. dont forget your but plug on the way out. LMAO perfect.
Its a good gun true, but if it needs that much upgrading then it aint perfect. If she needs that much plastic surgery to be attractive.....Just get a blow up doll.

LMAO 2ez; Im just trolling Glock fanboys right now, but I think I forgot 80% poly lowers with the 1911 grip angle and under cut trigger guards for the "perfect" gun to be perfect-er. Hey thanks for the comment and the feedback as always! I do not thing that there is a weight difference - at least I did not feel a weight difference in the hand. Per Glock's webpage, they rate in at the same weight. I do need to buy a scale, which is something I have been meaning to do for a while. I am also a fan of the Gen 3 - although the ambi controls are a huge plus in my book. Weather you are left or right handed, it is good to have ambi controls because you never know when you might have to switch hands in a defensive scenario.

You know how to get a lighter trigger pull?......How about going out and firing hundreds upon hundreds of rounds through it? I guarantee the stock trigger on my gen 4 is smoother than the 5 right out of the box, just from shooting it.

Thanks for your input! Just feeling the trigger out of the box, I could not notice any obvious difference. Then again, I have only had this one Glock 19 in my hands... Also, I have not fired it, so with a few 100 rounds down range, the trigger may loosen and may ease into a cleaner break. I will reevaluate the trigger when I get some time behind it at the range. Thanks again for commenting!

I prefer the gen 3 as well. The dual action spring, and guide rod is not an improvement. I dislike the dimpled trigger bar, not sure why it's a thing. I change them out. The ambi slide release is stupid, and doubles your chance of riding it, causing the slide to not lock back. Take down levers should be extended from the factory for ease of use. I do appreciate the bigger may button, but I still change them out to a quality steel part..
If I had my way, slides on new gens would have a universal optics cut that would accept a wider range of dot, not just RMR. Eliminate the polymer trigger shoe, widen that safe action button. I believe it would be more durable. Lastly, no more polymer sights, or guide rods. Steel please.

Its easy to clean, cheaper, and faster to produce. And plenty accurate for service standards. I got the side eye from our instructor. He fucked with me in class. I got the last laugh at the shot show that year when he remembered me. I set him straight. I think he misspelled my name on my certificate to spite me.

Thanks for the video, I was looking for this. Also is the mag release the same size between the gen 4 and 5? The two pin system was originally meant for 9mm. They shifted to a three pin system to better handle the stress of .40 and .45. The M series FBI pistols which were the precursor to the gen 5 were built for solely for 9mm. The 19 MHS submission was for 9mm and .40 and they only used a two pin system so maybe they felt it wasn't necessary on their newer designs. As we all know everything we read on the internet is always true.
