      @ I Am His - every country has a history of genocide, rape, pillaging and murder. That’s just what life was like many hundreds of years ago. Try and read up on history without your anti-English goggles on, this is clouding your ability to read facts. Reaching into history and trying to apply it to life today is crazy. Even your precious Ireland has a fair bit to answer for (sailing to the West of England and taking English slaves to trade) see, no one has a rosy history to stop focusing on the ills of just one. If you dislike the poor treatment faced the the aboriginal Australians then do them a favour and give the chunk of Australia you are occupying back to them and move somewhere else. English people living in England today are the ones who didn’t go and take over land from other countries and pass it to their defendants - were the one who stayed here and didn’t take from others so it’s really strange the the defendants of those who did leave their homeland and take land away from others are lecturing the English who stayed put.

      The “English establishment” brought far more English convicts to Australia than they did Irish so if by “bringing us here” you mean bring other English to Australia then yes, they did. I did not in any way imply that English are innocent, if you actually read any of my comments is am clearly stating that Elite upper class English people treated the working class English people horribly and still do. If you want to point out the horrible things that the elite English people in charge hundreds of years ago did then make sure you are pointing your finger at those people, not the working class people who have been treated worse than anyone by the elite English for the last 2000 years. You really need to start basing your knowledge in fact, not misplaced emotion. You haven’t added any comment on the facts of the ‘home children’ or other instances of working class English people who make up Australia so start by that

      And how did the Irish get here?
      The English brought them here in chains as prisoner's to do hard labour for petty crimes.
      Such as 7 year's hard labour for stealing a loaf of bread to feed their starving families.
      We don't forget that kind of brutality here.
      That includes the mass genocide on the indigenous people of Australia too.

The top and most common last names of today’s Australians are English, not Irish. The vast majority of convicts brought to Australia “in chains” were English - working class of course, upper classes rarely faced prison for their crimes. Where are you getting your history from? England’s population is so much bigger than Ireland’s and so many people in England have Irish ancestry. The whole point of making Australia a penal colony in the first place was because had too many prisoners and not enough places to put the
      , that’s why so many English convicts were taken to Australia. Australia and New Zealand were colonized by Britons similar to Anglo-Saxon colonization of Britain. Now England.

    In 1770, Royal Navy captain James Cook, during his first voyage to the Pacific, sailed along and mapped the east coast of Australia, which he named New South Wales and claimed for Great Britain.[1] Seventeen years later, following the loss of its American colonies in 1783, the British Government sent a fleet of ships, the "First Fleet", under the command of Captain Arthur Phillip, to establish a new penal colony in New South Wales. A camp was set up and the flag raised at Sydney Cove on 26 January 1788, and the British Crown Colony of New South Wales was formally promulgated on 7 February 1788. Further Crown Colonies were established in Van Diemen's Land (now known as Tasmania) in 1803; Swan River Colony (now known as Western Australia) in 1828; South Australia in 1836; Victoria in 1851; and Queensland in 1859. The six colonies federated in 1901 and the Commonwealth of Australia was formed as a Dominion of the British Empire.

    I think Australia is very similar to the UK from what I've seen. Also cockney is definitely not middle class. Middle class is moderately posh. Not many people are upper class, they're the ones that go to posh boy schools and have second homes in Norfolk and all that.

    • @bobmiah
      @bobmiah 3 года назад

      most people outside the uk only see the upper class people instead of everyone else and thats why everyone stereotypes uk as posh

    I love the Australians, Kiwis, Newfoundlanders, ETC, they took the best parts of Irish, English, Welsh and scottish culture, as well as, say, SE Asian for AUS, and created a culture that feels both new and exciting, but oddly similar.
    My mother is English, Dad Irish, and I grew up in Northern Ireland, and have lived in British overseas Territory, i love the melting pot of my life 🙂🇮🇪🇨🇦🇦🇺🇳🇿🇬🇧❤
    BTW quick tip, just because a country is Anglophone, it doesn't mean its going to have the same opinions or values, that sounds like it would be obvious but you would be surprised...
