I remember watching Ghostbusters II and Batman 89 in the Cinema in between a few Weeks as a twelve year old. What a Time to be alive that was.
You also watched Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade and Back to the Future 2 that year?
Yeah, 89 was a good year for movies. Batman, Ghostbusters 2, Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, and Back to the Future 2.

Peter MacNicol is just criminally underrated. This, Dracula: Dead and Loving It, Addams Family Values, Spectacular Spider-Man, he's just consistently great and not as well-known as he should be.
I just love how Egon makes the dirtiest joke in the entire movie (the epididymis bit) and most people don't even realize it.
General public: "Hey Ashleigh, who told you to watch this?" Ashleigh: "My Patreon peeps told me to... oh and "an alien told me, too".
“Do something.” “Why don’t you tell them you don’t believe in ghosts?” it’s a solid comedy sequel but Ghostbusters and Ghostbusters: Afterlife are near perfect
26:20 - That is an NES Advantage joystick, meant for the original Nintendo Entertainment System (NES).

The alien probe lady is actually the voice of Lisa Simpson. (Sorry forget her name, I'm sure the comments will fix that for me)

You should really do The Crow for halloween monday - it's not super scary, but the mood is next level. Also as a tribute to Brandon Lee who was killed while filming this, and Burn by The Cure is worth watching the movie for on its own.

That blonde lady that you recognised in the beginning is famous for being exactly that. She's that blonde lady (Mary Ellen Trainor) that people recognise from films in the 80's and 90's. She's in Romancing the Stone, The Goonies, Lethal Weapon, Die Hard, Scrooged, Back to the Future Part II, Death Becomes Her, and Forrest Gump, all of which you've reacted to before.
Yeah, she especially shows up in a lot of Richard Donner projects. Including the first episode of Tales from the Crypt that they ever shot.
Don't forget Robocop.
fun fact Dan Aykroyd said once that the original plan for Oscar the baby to be Peter's son and Dana never told Peter because she felt he was too immature to be a father.
25:25 Yes, he was in Dusk 'til Dawn but most famously that is Cheech Marin who rose to fame as part of the stoner comedy duo Cheech & Chong of the 70s and 80s. By this point he had been doing more solo bits. Some other interesting sidelines of his are Shrimp on the Barbie(1990) and Born in East L.A.(1987). Cheech was also the voice of Ramone the Lowrider from the Cars series.
And don´t let us forget Gary Busey who was the one right beside Cheech.
@@patrickhein6986 No it wasn't. David Powledge was the dock assistant.
Cheech also voiced one of the hyenas in The Lion King.
Cheech was also in *Tin Cup* with Kevin Costner, an underappreciated movie.

Yep! Dan Aykroyd not only co-wrote both Ghostbusters and Ghostbusters II, but actually comes from a family of paranormal investigators. He clearly takes a lot of the inspiration from actual parapsychology studies for the scripts too, even though the films themselves are very fantastical.
Also, an alien told me too. In a room on his spaceship made up to look like the Holiday Inn in Paramus, New Jersey.
Coincidentally enough, I once stayed at a Holiday in in Paramus, New Jersey, in a room that was made up to look like the interior of an alien space ship.
Dan Aykroyd's honest interest in the paranormal is what sets these two movie apart from what came later. There's real heart in these films.
Hes also musician and still , Leningrad cowboys , Global balalaika show , did better version of "Ghostbusters" in 2003 , with red army choir , from whom most are ghosts now , after plane crash in 2016 .
I never gave that guy who said the world would end in New Years Eve enough credit as he was actually very close, had the Ghostbusters not gotten involved.
yeah, he knew what he was talking about.
Maybe he would have gotten some good book sales after the fact considering the world looked like it was going to end... at least in nyc. LOL

Still, it was a delight to see it for the first time (again) through Ashleigh's eyes. Such a cheerful, pleasant reaction.
Also, I love Peter MacNicol (the museum caretaker) in everything I've seen him in. He is such an underappreciated, talented and enjoyable, onscreen presence.

Harold Ramis (Egon and co-writer of both movies) passed away in 2014. Something to remember if you watch Ghostbusters Afterlife, as I've seen a few reactors who didn't realize he died in real life and were puzzled by what happened to Egon in that movie.
He was a good director also
RIP Harold Ramis
That movie has the perfect dedication to him especially to Ivan & I truly appreciate it as a fan of the 80s. R.I.P. Harold & Ivan
Egon was always my favourite Ghostbuster. Myself and my friends all shed tears at the end of Afterlife.
Seriously? How could they possibly miss that? Besides it being big news at the time it was also all over the place in the lead up to Afterlife.
4:26 Fun fact: The kid that says that his dad says that the Ghostbusters were "full of crap" is played by Jason Reitman, who would go on to direct films such as "Juno", "Up in the Air" and the follow-up to this film, "Ghostbusters Afterlife". His dad, of course, is the late Ivan Reitman, the director of the first two "Ghostbusters" films.
Yeah, and his sister is Maureen Ponderosa a.k.a Dead Tooth in Its Always Sunny.
Jason's sister is the little girl with the puppy in Egon's lab
Peter MacNicol is criminally underrated as an actor.
Also, not gonna lie, watching Ashleigh simping all over Sigourney Weaver has definitely brightened my day. 🤣 She really does have a perfect nose. It's gorgeous.
he came up with Janozs name and made a full backstory. his character was originally just a New Yorker named... Jason, I think? he even created the accent.
Omg! I grew up with this movie; watched it countless times, and yet never made the connection to Egon studying emotional reactions earlier. Thank you Ashleigh!
I moved to this country when I was 5 and I would watch Ghostbusters and Back to the Futute on vhs almost everyday. Those movies basically taught me English. So when I saw trailer for Ghostbusters 2 when I was 8 years old? The hype was REAL.

Ashleigh, now that your choice of Bill Murray movies is slowly running out, I recommend "Lost in Translation," a sweet movie where you see a different side of Murray and also "Broken Flowers."
Regarding your future ex-wife Sigourney Weaver, you should see "Working Girl" costarring Harrison Ford, "Dave" directed by Ivan Reitman ("Ghostbusters") and "Death and the Maiden"
EDIT: An alien told me too
One movie that I'd love to see you do, since it's set around Halloween, is the original THE CROW starring Brandon Lee. It has Ernie Hudson (Winston Zeddemore) in a pretty major dramatic role. It's not exactly a scary movie, but definitely something I think Ashleigh would enjoy, and an epic 90's soundtrack.
Peter MacNicol (Janosz) is odd in that he started out as a straightforward dramatic actor, but he’s become most well-known for his comedy. (I don’t remember if you’ve already seen it, but he played Renfield in Mel Brooks’ “Dracula: Dead and Loving It.”)
11:33 Supernatural fiction tidbit: the actor playing the judge, Harris Yulin, played Quentin Travers, the head of the Watchers’ Council, in the “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” TV series.
That is a fun tidbit about Buffy the vampire Slayer! But remember Ashley thinks Sarah Michelle gellar is Daphne
I always remember Peter MacNicol from Dragonslayer
That’s so Awesome!
Ally McBeal
He was such a weird choice for Dragonslayer. I mean, I like him, but I kind of wish they had cast almost anybody else.
When you watched Ghostbusters I was surprised that you didn't seem to recognize Annie Potts from _Designing Women._ It seemed inconceivable that a Southern girl wouldn't know _Designing Women._ If you don't, you should look it up. Starring Delta Burke, Dixie Carter, Jean Smart, Annie Potts, and Meshach Taylor, it's a great sitcom about four women interior designers in Atlanta. It ran during the same years as _The Golden Girls._
Also, an alien told me too.
I recently started watching Designing Women. I was too young for it when it first aired, but I gotta say, it totally holds up. Such a great show, and I was surprised to see them handle topics that wouldn't have been very popular at the time such as gay rights and racial injustice.
I watched Designing Women and I don't recall ever realizing Janine was part of that cast. I'll be damned.
Oh, I love Annie Potts! ❤ She also plays Sheldon’s Meemaw in Young Sheldon! She is hi-larious!
@@lynnettamiller I've checked it out in recent years as well. I forget what platform it's on, but it is streaming now I believe, which is awesome.

The kid at the birthday party was played by Jason Reitman, Ivan Reitman's son. He was obviously a kid back then, but he decided to follow his father's footsteps and take over directing the Ghostbusters franchise starting with Ghostbusters Afterlife.
Dan Aykroyd is one of the big writers for the first movie, too. 😆 He and Harold Raimis wrote it together, and it was based off of Dan's obsession with the paranormal, irl. He's a cooky conspiracy theory nerd and into some really wild stuff, but he's harmless with it and it'a kind of adorable, tbh.
Ghostbusters Afterlife is AMAZING!! Can't wait for you to react to that one... You will enjoy for sure!!

Facts! 😅
This movie is a Gem, criminally underrated
2:15 - 'The library ghost' is often called 'The Grey Lady' in the fandom.
3:58 - She has a haunted baby.
4:39 - It's the hair.
5:05 - The official ship is Egon and Janine, but this movie ignores that.
5:48 - I don't know if this is the official story, but it seems to me that this is just a housewife taking the excuses for her one-night stand too far.
7:14 - I'll keep it short. It's part of the penis.
7:55 - As a Bachelor of Child Development, I can confirm that those tests are real. Far less scary than they sound.
15:34 - That is LITERALLY the only kind of relationship that exists with Peter.
16:13 - So now you've seen her bra AND you've seen her panties. That's the most you're gonna get out of her.
17:40 - So in the original screenplay, this moment had much more immediate significance, but the following scene was left on the cutting room floor. On the way back to the office, Ray came under possession and tried to wreck the car, killing the team in the process. The boys managed to snap him out of it just in time. The scene still exists in the novelization of the movie, but the only traces left in the film are a couple shots from the scene that were used in the "We're Back" montage (of particular note, the shot where Egon and Peter are looking uncomfortable).
19:50 - Given that Sizzler filed for bankruptcy in the mid 90s and has been mostly restricted to the west coast since then, it's not surprising at all.
22:12 - Given what was previously established about Janine and Egon, I can only think of one explanation for this: ruclips.net/video/Dh0210A-VZo/видео.html
25:23 - Cheech Marin. Famous comic actor. Made it big as half of Cheech and Chong and has had a fairly successful career playing supporting Mexican roles. He just recently donated his collection of Chicano art (the biggest in the world) to found a museum dedicated to Latin artists.
25:36 - They decided way back in the 50s that the 555 exchange would be used for fake numbers in TV and movies.
26:20 - As much as this whole movie is a chunk of 80s nostalgia, nothing drives it home for me more than THIS: The Ghostbusters using an NES Advantage (an optional accessory for the original Nintendo Entertainment System) to control the Statue of Liberty.
29:30 - Dan Aykroyd has been a writer on almost every Ghostbusters related property. He and Harold Ramis co-wrote both of the original movies.
30:04 - Babies in media are typically portrayed by twins because a) it gets around child labor laws and b) whenever one twin is too out of sorts to shoot, they can use the other.
30:50 - Most people consider the first one better. In fact, a lot of people dismiss this movie outright, so much so that although nothing is specifically contradicted in Ghostbusters: Afterlife, neither is anything from 2 referenced.
31:54 - Editing Ashleigh didn't know.
My advice, watch Afterlife next. Then you can decide for yourself whether you want to watch Ghostbusters 2016 or just ignore it like the vast majority of the fandom does.
Well stated Legion
It's too bad you don't also play games on this channel, otherwise I'd recommend you play the Ghostbusters video game from 2009 that was remastered 3 years ago for PS4 which reunited most of the original cast before the death of Harold Ramis. However, there is a video that compiles all the cutscenes together to make a super long movie that's also on RUclips to watch.

Dan Aykroyd and Harold Ramis also helped write the script for the game in addition to providing voice acting
The actress you said that looked familiar at the birthday party also played the mom in "the goonies" and the police psychiatrist in the lethal weapon movies
Agreed.
I like this flic, but preferred the first one as well.
And I'm not sure why, but when I watch the final act of this movie, it always makes me think about the final act of Murrays xmas film, *"Scrooged",* and vice-versa. 🙂
Agreed… this movie was good In it’s own right.
But the original movie CRUSHES IT.

The movie where Meryl Streep (and Albert Brooks) mention Sizzler's is "Defending Your Life", which is adorable and deserves remembering. At least, that's what an alien told me.
I used to love Sizzler as a kid now can barely even remember it.
No wonder. Map has them all on the west coast and I only remember eating there on the east coast. Guess they all gone now and none even in Texas.
@@jayeisenhardt1337 My area of Queens had one until seven years ago. My dad and grandmother were big fans.
The boy at the birthday party that told Ray that his "Dad says you guys are full of crap" is director Ivan Reitman's son Jason Reitman who directed "Ghostbusters: Afterlife", which you should also watch some time.
Dan Aykroyd wrote this and the original. He is openly on the Autism Spectrum and investigates paranormal and supernatural. Harold Ranks is no longer with us. He wrote Groundhog Day. Ernie Hudson is in one of my favorite movies, The Crow which stars Brandon Lee son of martial arts legend Bruce Lee. Perfect Halloween movie.
I'm maybe halfway through and I love that you're enjoying this. If I'm not mistaken, streaming games is something you're possibly getting in to. I highly recommend Ghostbusters The Video Game. There was a remastered version that came out in 2019. It had Dan Aykroyd and Harold Ramis writing and the story is a great follow-up to the movies. Almost everyone returns, too. Unfortunately, Rick Moranis was already retired and apparently Sigourney Weaver's people said no without telling her about it. By the time she learned of the game and contacted them to say she was interested, they were too far along.
My favorite thing about Pete's backstory is that the reason he's so good at talking to people and is basically the spokesperson for the guys is because his dad was a conartist and taught little Peter how to dupe people. Peter learned about human interaction but hated the idea of being like his dad, so he went to school to put his people skills to good use, where he met Ray and Egon. Peter's the only one of the guys to have a double doctorate.
I did not know this bit that explains a lot!

Between Ghostbusters I & II, there was a Saturday morning cartoon called “The Real Ghostbusters”. That cartoon was a huge hit with the kids, and consequently they had to make Ghostbusters II more family friendly. Also in the cartoon, Slimer was on team Ghostbusters, so they couldn’t hunt him in this film.
I remember watching that goofy show before school when I was like in kindergarten...You unlocked a memory I didn't know I had.
That's funny that Slimer was their buddy in the cartoon show. Kind of like how Beetlejuice and Lydia were friends in the cartoon. More palatable to kids I guess?
There was also the Extreme Ghostbusters, which I watched way more than the Real Ghostbusters growing up in the 90s.

So there was a deleted scene after the museum where Ray, while possessed, ended up almost crashing the Ecto-1 with all of them in it. They kept some of the shots they had originally shot in the montage, but got rid of the whole ride from hell sequence.
But now you can watch Ghostbusters Afterlife, which actually got me emotional when I watched it in the theaters (especially that last few moments of the movie).
It remains a mystery how much of it they actually shot -- lots of fans were hoping the 19 deleted scenes they uncovered and released earlier this year would include more of that sequence, but no dice.
there's a LOT of deleted scenes and alternative takes. Some even made it into the theatrical trailer back then.
Dan Aykroyd co-wrote all 3 main continuity Ghostbusters! His family has a long history of involvement with supernatural stuff like seances, so most of the supernatural lingo comes straight from him and his personal experiences.
The library ghost does have a name. Her name is Eleanor Twitty. She has a pretty in-depth backstory I won't get into here but it was explored in Ghostbusters The Video Game (2009), when they finally go back and bust her.
I genuinely love this film. And to this day, decades later, I still get choked up and have chills when the statue of liberty scene comes up. Just the overall tone of that shot, of the stomping thunder of the statue's step down the street, the song playing with it's upbeat tone. and the people cheering. There is just something really powerful for me, of the idea of this statue, a symbol of the collective spirit of new york, animating to defend the city from a supernatural threat, like some slumbering guardian, and just smashing the fuck out of a shell of evil with a flaming torch of positive energy. Sorry but I just fucking love shit like that in story telling. I'm a huge sucker for themes of "we are stronger together", and the idea that all of new york, empowered that statue with positive vibes, to protect themselves from a supernatural threat. just good shit. hell i'm tearing up right now just describing how I feel about it.
I used to have the Nintendo controller they used to control her. I always got so excited to see that

Yeah, right there with you.
I agree, Ghostbusters 2 is a good movie in its own right when not compared with the first movie. When compared to the first movie, it sucked though. That’s how much of a classic the original movie is
@@nsasupporter7557 🤷♂ eh, I don't really care about comparing anyway? I agree it's not as good overall as the first, because it does recycle a lot of the story beats established by the first. but that's never been a big issue for me. to me at least, it's still a solid story, compared to the first or not. I would say it's nowhere near as quotable as the original, but there are no scenes in GB1 that make me choke up 30 years later like the statue of liberty scene in GB2.
Bringing the Statue to life took some doing. Miniatures, a larger head sculpture for close up shots, a costume worn by Jim Fye for full length views, and large scale full scale set pieces such as water tanks were used. The earliest shots done were in a larger-than-life-full-size-replica of the crown constructed on a sound stage at Burbank Studios. If the crown were built to scale, the actors faces would be obscured and there would be little room to move around with the Proton Packs on. The replica was 30% larger than the original and the glass was left out of the windows since they got in Ivan Reitman's way. The crown was placed on a gimbal mechanism in order to simulate movement of the Statue.[4] The gimbal used dated back to the 1940s and broke down during the first day of shooting. A second was brought in from CBS but it too was old. New cylinders were flown in overnight and the gimbal was restored to working order. During shooting, Ivan Reitman had the actors tilt down even further than usual in order to capture real fear on camera. Bill Murray recalled it was "quite a ride - nausea, sea legs, the whole thing.
And it was SOOO worth it. It looks real because it WAS real. ACTUAL props and models that was actually photographed and responded to ACTUAL light casting.
That's what we call movie magic, different, dedicated props or scale models for specific shots that all come together to make something like a walking stayed of liberty *feel* real.
You should check out ghostbusters afterlife next time.
These reviews bring me back! I feels obligated to watch these out of clasic movie respect. "An alien told me too", therefore, I must!! Thanks for your content and energy.
Fun fact: The original voice of viggo(the villain) was originally done by someone else, but from what I've read he wasn't very threatening. So his voice was replaced by Max Von Sydow, the head priest in The Exorcist
I remember that guy from Conan the Barbarian.
King Osric: There comes a time, thief, when the jewels cease to sparkle, when the gold loses its luster, when the throne room becomes a prison, and all that is left is a father's love for his child.
I mainly know Max Von Sydow as Brewmeister Smith from Strange Brew (which also starred Rick Moranis).
@@RandomNonsense1985 His role in Flash Gordon had solidified his legendary status for me.
An alien told me too! Lol This movie still cracks me up! The 3rd one is pretty good! You should do a 3rd week, Ghostbusters Afterlife (#3)…Army of Darkness (Evil Dead 3)…. 🧟♂️👻💀
"I've worked with better....but not many. Thank you." My favorite freaking line! 🤣
Don't trust TheRadBrad04. There is no reward. It's a scam.
I saw this movie in the theater back to back with the first Michael Keaton Batman. They came out within a week each of other in '89. An alien told me too!
You stole my comment cause it happen to me as well...I was 9 though :-)
@@jesseslack2089 Small world because I was also 9 that summer!
@@BufordT Same here. But I was a little bit older: I was 12.
Me too! Watched them from the back seat of our car at the drive-in theater. I was 8.
I was 10 and I saw it as part of a triple feature with Indiana Jones and The Last Crusade and The Karate Kid Part 3.
I'm sure someone else already mentioned this, but - the mean kid at the birthday party is the director's son, and also grew up to direct Ghostbusters Afterlife. Which you should watch immediately after this one. 🙃
Afterlife is awful.
Glad you are spotting Brian Doyle Murray now and know who he is. There are two other Murray acting brothers. First there is Joel. Joel has worked mainly in TV over the years and he has done a lot of it. And then there is John. I have only seen John in one thing, the movie Moving Violations as the main character.(edit-He was also in Scrooged as Frank's[Bill's] brother. I still want to know what John has been doing since 1988.). I don't know why. He also reminds me so much of Bill in Moving Violations.
Either Joel or John owned a bar in NYC on 30th and 7th ave. There's a rehearsal studio in the building I used to go to a lot.
Moving Violations...man I saw that in an actual theater. He was too much like Bill.
Moving Violations is such an underrated movie! Jennifer Tilly before she was famous, James Keach from National Lampoon's Vacation, Sally Kellerman from M*A*S*H, Robert Conrad from The Wild Wild West, the great Fred Willard and a whole bunch of familiar faces. Even Clara Peller, the "Where's the beef!?" lady is in it! It's a lot like Police Academy. If you're into '80s comedies, I recommend it.
You forgot Brian Doyle Murray who was in CaddyShack Christmas Vacation Scrooged and Groundhog Day with Bill
@@MrMarvelous1973 He started by mentioning Brian, he was talking about the other brothers.
Joel was also in One Crazy Summer with John Cusack, not just TV.
An alien told me too.
I did not care for "Ghostbusters" (1984) or "Ghostbusters 2".
The only "movie" I liked in the series was "Ghostbusters: The Video Game". (What the guys used to call the "third movie".)
The video game actually made me laugh more than either of the other real movies.
RUclips has a compilation of all the cutscenes for the game.
Cheech and Chong's movie 'Up in Smoke'. I know it isn't a Halloween movie but you'll see the dock supervisor in Ghostbusters 2 and 4 different characters in From Dusk Till Dawn because Cheech Marin is in both of them.
The uncredited actor who voiced Vigo was Max Von Sydow who played father Merrin in the exorcist, I know why you didn’t want to remember that film 😂 “ An Alien Told Me Too “
Didn't max play Robin Hoods dad in the Russell Crowe version of the film and Ming the Merciless from Flash Gordon 🤔
@@solomonkane6442 wow surprised you missed he played Josiah Kane in Solomon Kane lol but yes as well as Star Wars, game of thrones and 150 more tv or movies parts
@@gjl160974 yeah I remember him in Solomon Kane now 😆 ( how could I have forgotten about that 😆)
I bloody love that film
Who did max play in star wars? ( yes I have seen the films )
@@solomonkane6442 he was in the beginning of the force awakens he gave poe the map
@@gjl160974 I don't remember that 🤔
I was 3 years old when my mom showed me this film, and that bathtub scene scared the absolute shit out of me and literally started hiding from my mother whenever bath hour arrived 😆 proud to be a 90s kid
I wish we had a watchalong of Ghostbusters 1 though!
Since Ashleigh likes Rick Moranis, then she should watch the movie that he’s best known for which is “Honey, I Shrunk the Kids”
You will love Ghostbusters Afterlife. It pays a wonderful tribute to the late great Harold Ramis. Also not a Halloween movie but a great Sigourney Weaver movie based on a true story Gorillas in the mist. Look great Ashley with long hair. Happy early Hallobeans. Ghostbusters Afterlife also does throw backs to the first two movies as well. Also the doctor that is interviewing the Ghostbusters in jail that is Bill Murray's real life brother who has also made appearances in other movies with Bill. Most notable was Caddyshack. Not Atari that was a Nintendo super controller with turbo and slow buttons. You had that you were the talk of your neighborhood
Underrated film for sure. Ghostbusters II and Batman 1989 were the very first movies I ever saw in cinemas. My mom took me to see them both even though I was like 5 at the time. Still remember watching them on the big screen.
Ghostbusters 2 and batman made 1989 a massive film year for me as a kid. Though these days, I'd have thrown in little mermaid too...
I this too for me. Cause I was only 2 or 3 when I saw these movies. Batman was my absolute favorite when it came out.
For those of you left wondering on "Is the atomic weight of Cobalt 58.9?". Well the answer is yes, yes it actually is 58.9 u when rounded up
Also another cool trivia I don't think Ashley had nentioned/noticed is that Egon's actor harold Ramis actually directed and co-wrote the screenplay to groundhog day. He also co-wrote the screenplay of both Ghosbusters with Ray's actor Dan Aykroyd. Such multi-talents!
Again, the cast in this film is astounding! Peter MacNicol is one of the funniest actors! Addams Family Values is just brilliant - a good one for Hallowbeans!
I remember watching the first Ghostbusters on a trip to New York & realising that the Stay Puft marshmallow man was walking down the street that my hotel was on! 😵💫 it was a whole moment!
Love the review, love the channel, love you & the fabulous, fun and friendly community that has been built by you.
An alien told me too!
Be glad Gozer didn't roam the streets of New York as a giant Torb :3
Dan Akroyd wrote the Ghostbusters movies, yes. He’s basically obsessed with paranormal things irl. There’s a youtube clip where he’s trying to convince Johnny Carson a double exposure picture proves ghosts exist because he didn’t think double exposures could be done back then.
I'm probably a little skewed by my favoring this over the first movie, because I grew up in the 80s and 90s at a time when it was aired on Comedy Central just... ALL the f-ing time. I probably watched this movie at least a dozen times before ever managing to watch the first movie, along with the cartoon being my first introduction to Ghostbusters being much younger in the 80s, the first one just ended up feeling so dated and had a different tone from what I was used to. So this is and always will be _my_ Ghostbusters movie.
I've been patiently waiting all morning for this 👻 👻 👻
Love love love your videos ♡
Massive Love for Robin Shelby, the actress in side Slimer for this film, she is such a wonderful and generous person with her time for us fans.
An alien told me to (an alien told me too?) tell you that the kid who says "My dad said you're full of crap" is Jason Reitman, son of director Ivan Reitman (RIP). He grew up and directed last year's Ghostbusters: Afterlife.
I don't know if it was active for this one, but for the first movie they did have commercials where you could call the number and hear a message that Murray and Aykroyd recorded.
Speaking of commercials, you can see the slightly extended version of the movie's commercial here, with a couple of additional jokes: ruclips.net/video/7qSkgHQaJAo/видео.html
Also, fun fact: the way the Ghostbusters get out of the mental hospital isn't just Louis: in deleted scenes, Louis called upon his cousin Sherman Tully, played by Eugene Levy.
I too hope you get to both Afterlife AND the 2016 movie. Unpopular opinion, perhaps, but I think the 2016 is the best of all the follow-ups to the original so far, which are all mixed bags.
It is an unpopular opinion. 2016 never should've been made, and has no place in Ghostbusters. It's an abomination.
@@faded1to3black That's actually a very popular opinion...
@@faded1to3black she might want to see it since bill Murray has a couple of cameos in it
@@MrTickleTrunk that 2016 shouldn't ever be counted as a proper Ghostbusters movie? That is the popular opinion, yes. 2016 was a terrible movie, and a slap in the face to the franchise, and Ivan.
@@jasonkreider8954 it isn't worth it. It's 90 minutes of eye burning terror for a snippet of Bill. Just watch his far better talent from the movie as a RUclips clip and spare yourself the torture of having to watch the rest of the movie.
The walking Statue of Liberty was achieved using an actress wearing a statue costume and just walking.
Babies can only work a certain amount of hours in movies, so to extend that time they'll use twins. Different sources say that infants are legally allowed to only work 2 to 4 hours on a movie set. So using twins helps. One twin will work 4 hours then the other twin will work 4 as well. This way the director gets 8 hours worth of work by using two identical babies.
*2:30** bout time you addressed this no future exwife bigotry! ive been WAITING since the first one i EVER watched;* i was like "one or two more yrs of this: we'll have to cancel her." just in the nick of time. _JC
An Alien Told Me Too.
Okay so I have many problems with this film and here they are:
1. Having the whole city act as though the events of the first film didn't happen and ghosts aren't real,
2. Breaking up a great couple only to have them end up together again by the end,
3. Everything with the baby and kidifying what was clearly an adult comedy
4. Replacing Walter Peck when they should have just kept the character of Peck
The issue with Peck is the actor who played him got tired of being cast as the same a$$hole character after the first movie and Die Hard, the only reason he agreed to be in the Die Hard sequel is cuz he needed the money
1. No one in this film acted as though the first film didn't happen. Some were convinced of a conspiracy theory that everything that did happen was because of the Ghostbusters using shady methods to simply convince people that it did happen. If the first film didn't happen, how were they known by everyone?
2. People break up and get back together all the time. Get over it.
3. So now every movie with a kid in it is now "kiddifyed" simply because a child is in it? I'll go tell hereditary and The omen.
4. They tried to get Peck's actor back but he turned it down. So they went with what they had. Beyond that, I'm pretty sure no character in this film was named Peck.... So therfore no one was replaced.
5. Its a movie. Have fun.
@@Trainwheel_Time Okay first of all you are being a jerk for no reason and second here is a video explaining how to fix the film: ruclips.net/video/b2KUODcqgY0/видео.html
Thirdly I have nothing against kids in horror films, but they basically revolved the whole film around the baby when it didn't belong. I also recommend watching the Nostalgia Critic review on Ghostbusters II.
Then again Ghostbusters maybe should have been just a one off thing, no cartoons, no games, no reboots or sequels.
