The lead singer is Evan Felker, this is the guy Zach Bryan was singing about in his song “Felker” the band recently broke up due to Felkers alcohol and substance abuse, hopefully this adds a bit of context
One of my favorite bands! I listen to them everyday, in fact my morning alarm clock is the turnpike troubador's Pandora station. Lots of great stuff on there.
It's hard to pick a favorite Turnpike Troubadours song...it seems like my favorite is always revolving around slowly. But just recently I went on a Troubadours kick because I started missing them badly after they abruptly ended the band a while back. After giving them a break in listening for a while then going back to listen to all their stuff again, it was noticeably apparent that Good Lood Lorie is definitely my favorite song of theirs. I was very thankful to be able to see them live at the Lucero Annual Blockparty in Memphis back in April of 2017 I believe. I had always been a big fan, but when I heard them live it took my respect for them to a new level. I hated to hear that they had gone on permanent hiatus. Although, I did read in some comments that talks of a reunion had at least been discussed. So good deal!!
KVOK just reacted to "William & Wanda"... it got both of them boys over there just squall-sackin! Love your new picture...beautiful eyes! (said in a pure brotherly fashion) :-) ruclips.net/video/ysT5kJZndBE/видео.html
OK, now THAT blew my socks off! LOVED IT!!! It reminds me a lot of "Tangled Up In Blue" by Bob Dylan. Sounds very similar instrumentally and spins an awesome yarn. My dad used to demand anyone wanting to take me out had to meet him face to face before we left the house. Any fella not intimidated into submission at that first 'meeting' was not welcome to come by for a second! History proved his choice in men for me were alot better than my own. He's pushing 70 now and still tries it on with my daughters suitors! Sadly he ALWAYS knows best.
I love turnpike troubadours. You should check out their song blue star. Also check out Parker McCollum hell of a year, meet you in the middle, and pretty heart. Parker McCollum is a fan of turnpike troubadours and covered his song good lord lorrie
One of my favorite Red Dirt bands! His relationship with Miranda Lambert really hurt his career. I look forward to their next album. Every Girl is another great one from them
I know you have heard a little Parker McCollum already, and he does a great cover of this live with his own vocal style. He says this line just before that last verse "i wonder what we ever went through all this trouble for" where he talks about Felker and Turnpike being his favorite, and he says quote: "This is my favorite verse in all of Country music. I'd have to have done some real fucked up shit to write something like this".
Dude, this is just the middle of the story. Well towards the end. You have Evan or the main character, Jimmy, lorrie, and a couple friends of the main character. Evan is a genius.
Love the cascade of lyrics; he must have filled a bunch of pages in the notebook while writing this one. This is on "maximum rotation" on Pandora's Jason Isbell channel...always makes 6-7 minutes of the work day fly...not very productive minutes but...oh,well.
Top 5 favorite band for me personally. Sucks they broke up and there is NO new news on Evan Felker's recovery. Looks like the guitar player has hooked up with Reckless Kelly. Outlook not looking good for a reunion
Good rating as ususal. I haven't commented in awhile but I still watch every one of your videos. Check out "Unrung" by Turnpike, you would love this one. I'm ready for another Miranda song, she has so many good ones.
@Betty Stafford Good to see you in here again!! And yeah, I'll have to do another Miranda song soon. I've done more songs of hers than anyone else's, but it's been a while. Thanks for the reminder! :-)
Loved seeing these guys in concert, put on a great show. But ever since the lead singer and miranda Lambert had their deal they havent been the same and canceled their tour unless they have reunited since then. Good stuff as always don. Hope to hear Casey donahew on here shortly :)

Possibily the greatest country song ever. Love the multiple adventures of Lorrie. I named my boat Lorrie after this song
@Wes Krug Now THAT is a cool name for a boat.
I named my car Lorrie for the same reason.
That’s a huge stretch
there's no mention of mama, trains, or gettin' drunk. It ain't the perfect country song. But it's a really really good one
One of my favorite bands! I listen to them everyday, in fact my morning alarm clock is the turnpike troubador's Pandora station. Lots of great stuff on there.
my favorite country song of all time. probably in my top 5 across all genres and thats including various metal, reggae, bluegrass, rap etc...
The Housefire by Turnpike Troubadors! Amazing storytelling and instrumentation
As the kids say, "you gotta shoot your shot." He took his shot with Lorrie and it didn't work out, but the important thing is he took the chance!
Oh but it did work out check out “the house fire”
jakehihihihi Haha, good point!
I love the Turnpike Troubadours and this song!!!!
No I'm from Tahlequah Oklahoma where The Turnpike Troubadours actually formed. You should do The Housefire next it's kinda the next step in the story.
The bird hunters by them is a great song you ought to do, but then again they can do no wrong. Check out Irene by Ian Now!

Both are two of my favorite songs!

❤️❤️ My heart is still broken. Great review, Don. You just can’t go wrong with these guys.

You should do "Pay No Rent" or "Pipe Bomb Dream"! Sad they had to call it quits. Amazing music. Greetings from North Texas!
This is MY FAVORITE Turnpike song 😍😍😍 I clicked so fast!

In my opinion one of the greatest visuals and stories you can ever get is the song House Fire by this same band Turnpike Troubadours!
Dude, this is just the middle of the story. Well towards the end. You have Evan or the main character, Jimmy, lorrie, and a couple friends of the main character. Evan is a genius.
The current band that's closest in sound and style right now is Flatland Cavalry, also out of Oklahoma.
They are out of Lubbock, but have an Oklahoma feel for some reason.
Love the cascade of lyrics; he must have filled a bunch of pages in the notebook while writing this one.

Give the hill country devil and his song glory if ya aint already!

These guys haven't been the same since Miranda Lambert tore Evans family apart and then dumped him!!!
Benjamin Tod via VHS Gem is amazing!
Good Song!
I’d like you to review “Cigarettes and Wine” by Jason Isbell. It’s quite amazing. That is all. Thank you. There is an awesome live version out there.

condemned by zach bryan!
you pick some good songs . But you talk a lot . Are you part yankee , or just like to hear yourself talk .
