I agree the combination of inline 6 manual transmission and rear wheel drive. It ticks every box for me. I love my is200. For me when I first saw one I new this is destined to be an enthusiasts car and a classic. Never mind the slightly low 150hp the driving experience is super satisfying.
@4JZI I have some lifestyle Modifications. A newer head unit which I will soon be updating again. I added Cruise control which was deleted for manual transmission. And I changed all of the orange lights in the car to blue. Other than those mods it's all original. Mine is black with ivory interior. Sports Luxury badge with leather/suede combo seats and sunroof. I have often thought about an engine swap but for now I am keeping it stock as it's almost time for my boys to start learning to drive. I couldn't think of a better car for kids to learn in.
Oh wow very subtle mods very nice. I’m sure your boys will love to learn in that for a first car aswell. Wish I did instead of a fiesta ahaha. I’ve had to part ways with my IS contemplating a 300zx now…
Hi, I too am an owner of one is200 manual and I’m just wondering, how did you get to install cruise control on yours? I was thinking of doing some programming with arduino and do an adaptation with the original lever of the cc, but if there is a simpler way, please tell me!! I would be much appreciated with that information.
Deffo recommend tuning after putting a turbo in 🥵 lots of kits out there can try do yourself or there’s people who put kits in at like 2k here in the UK. Headlights I think people heat the outside and put in oven to open it up and then u can change the wiring of the headlights etc. hope that was somewhat helpful 👌otherwise someone else please comment!
I've had one of these for a year and a half now and it's been mostly reliable so far (175,000ish Miles on the clock). Only really had to replace a couple of brake lights since they'd probably never been replaced. I've also had to redo most of the front suspension on one side but that's entirely my fault because I ended up sending it on top of a lane divider one rainy night by accident (don't cheap out on tires people, I learned that the hard way). Gave me the opportunity to lower it on coils to finally get rid of that Monster Truck fitment the car originally comes with, so it's all good. Do they look good ? Taste is very much opinion-based, I'd argue that they do, but opinions are opinions. I don't pick sides nor discriminate (except when it comes to Drivetrain and the amount of Cylinders. I got tired of 4 banger-powered euro hatches for a while now) which is why I also love 3 series. I feel like most people are too often only on one side of the fence. Yes BMW sucks ass at making reliable cooling systems, but damn do they look nice, I still want an E36/E46 with a 3L in it. I don't mind having to wrench a little to keep such nice cars up and running. What annoys me with the IS200 is that the Fuel economy is basically non-existent (I basically barely get 400 miles off a full tank if I really feather the gas, around 350 Miles with normal driving, and about 300 Miles if I drive it like I stole it) and the 1G-FE doesn't make any power. 155HP just isn't enough for this little sedan and 0-60 times are rather underwhelming. The damn thing does have VVTi but it only kicks on at around 5,500RPMs if I remember correctly. Which only leaves 1,000RPMs before RedLine. With all that said.. I still love mine and would very much like to JZ swap when my 1G finally blows up, so putting money aside to be prepared when that happens. Need to do a Timing belt + Alternator first though. Toyotas are reliable but no one escapes basic maintenance haha

I bought one to drive for a bit with the intention to flip and upgrade but I’m in love. I’m keeping it and am in the process of making it even better. 👌
My first car ever was a BMW E30 1.8is with welded diff, it had the same plates as the black Lexus from the beginning of the video. This car without any ABS or traction control taught me a lot. Unfortunately, a drunk woman hit me in front and I had to sell the car for parts. Later I bought an e36 and to this day I only drive RWD cars. I also had an Is 200 in 2016, if someone has just received their license and wants a RWD car and doesn't want a BMW, I think it's a really good car to start with. The only problem is low power and high fuel consumption, but if you have LPG it's not even that bad. Sorry for my english, Im from poland :)
Glad to know my video is reaching different places around the world. Well said! Your English is understandable dw. So you’re saying bmw instead of Lexus? :0
I have had mine for 4 years love it people always come up to me saying it looks to good I do have a body kit and come rims and looks mint but I do say that turboing this car it one expensive and that u can’t really push to much power in it the weight is the best thing about it 50/50 balance
