I remember calling hagerty in 2019 to insure my fd rx7. The guy on the phone said, "sorry sir but we dont consider the rx7 as one of our classics we insure for your agreed value." I responded, "dont worry, you will soon enough." He laughed and said, "we will see." Well 5 years later and this channel has evolved to focusing almost entirely on japanese car culture. Funny how that worked out.
The car from the guy that Drove to Germany Stands in the german Toyota Museum in Cologne. Saw that car there, im german and live 200km from the Museum away. Impressive
It's super cool to see how passionate and knowledgeable Wai is about the AE86. The crazy small details between the kouki variants and zenki variants was a nice new piece of knowledge for me.
So cool to see the ae86 community well and thriving in Malaysia! I have a buddy who is local to me with a black edition ae86. I didn't know that they were so rare!
It's amazing to see such a passion for one car model, and the details on this Toyota AE86 he built are just next level. Also, it is awesome to see car cultures from around the world, great video Larry keep it up :)
REQUEST! make the shot @14:49 available to purchase please, maybe a little sneaky photoshopping of 86 into the floor circles and that is going up on my wall ASAP! great work dude, keep these vids coming!
Wow, what a CLEAN group of cars! Those owners really love them, I can't imagine how hard it must be to find all the NOS parts to do a full restoration like that.
Larry brings such a creative and artistic approach to capturing the beauty of car culture, I have loved how this partnership has opened up some really cool doors for him to showcase some amazing collectors and collections.
It's amazing how expensive these cars are. When they first came out they were sub $10,000 US. I remember when my aunt got one when she got married, it was all she could talk about it. It was a fun car to drive through.
In the 80s, Mustangs and Camaros competed fiercely for market share, while Chrysler took a detour and said, let's gamble on the inevitable death of the v8 and hype a 4 cylinder turbo in omni and charger models. Almost everyone who admired 4 cylinders in the 80s focused on Japanese cars like the AE86. Was the cold shoulder justified? Perhaps not because the 2.2L Consulier GTP was outlawed everywhere it raced. Meanwhile the AE86 won praise for how it got downhill. Americans knew the big 3+Yugo+Hyundai put out throw away cars in the 80s. This would be a good marketing scenario in college textbooks.
The GR 86 is my favorite car ever, I am so glad to see AE86es being so loved and kept on the road, this could be me in the future with the current 86. Also, I really don't like that Kouki red stripe running across both taillights
at brunei, those ae 85 or ae 86,if been sale,as cheap as bnd 2k.but it's need to ,done so repair.as an foreign worker,in Brunei.everone can ,purchase it.and bring it,back to malaysia.tq.
If i had driver licence my first car is the AE86 and if i had lots of money i would modified the AE86 into actually Takumi's AE86 from 5th and final stages. My AE86 would have a actual TRD Group A racing engine.
Hargety pls change that god awful AI thumbnail, we can clearly see that a road just appears out of nowhere, just use one of Larry's photos or pay an artist to do a real thumbnail
@@alphaenterprise2232 it makes zero sense if he is a car photographer. Like why not use one of your own works as the thumbnail instead? Hopefully it was just some stupid decision the higer ups decided to do and not Larry.
Still asking why, its because of initial d. I think more than 60 percent buy it because of the influence of initial d same like when r34 start hyper booming after the movie 2 fast 2 furious came out, but i admit that r34 is already popular even before the 2 fast 2 Furious.
Malaysia 🇲🇾🇲🇾 on the map of Hagerty. Awesome as always. Thank you for the feature.

I bet you if you call again they will insure it
@LarryChenPhoto they do now. Lol. Btw i see you everywhere man. Last time i was in japan i saw you at like 5 different places 😅
I insured my FD and AE with them since 2017 I believe.
I’ve owned an 86 for 10 years and I still learned a lot from this video. Now I finally know what that tiny circle speaker cover thing is for.
I knew Malaysia for a while had a huge JDM scene and how much they love the 86 great to see so light being shed on their cars
Malaysia mentioned on Hagerty!!! Thank you so much for the opportunity!!!!
The car from the guy that Drove to Germany Stands in the german Toyota Museum in Cologne. Saw that car there, im german and live 200km from the Museum away. Impressive
The Malaysian AE86 still there in the museum?
hagerty, Larry chen, and Toyota 86s... this is the best video on the internet
It's super cool to see how passionate and knowledgeable Wai is about the AE86. The crazy small details between the kouki variants and zenki variants was a nice new piece of knowledge for me.
Watching your videos has opened my eyes to the world wide car culture. Thank you.
Thank you Hagerty and Larry, and crew, for sharing such awesome content here for viewers here
So cool to see the ae86 community well and thriving in Malaysia! I have a buddy who is local to me with a black edition ae86. I didn't know that they were so rare!
What a genuinely lovely guy, fond memories of Malaysia, I must return one day
On my way to KL for the first time... excited!
I got goosebumps from that opening shot of all the AE86's driving together. So sweet
This is car culture that pre-dates any fast and furious or need for speed. This is so dope, so OG. Great work as always Hagerty!
It's amazing to see such a passion for one car model, and the details on this Toyota AE86 he built are just next level.

Hi Larry. This is probably one of the best stories you've made so far. Love it!
What an amazing story and video. Really love the editing and appreciate the time that goes into these!

wow.. Malaysia car culture is beautiful
Finally an episode of Malaysia car culture that I've been anticipating for a very long time.
that is a whole museum on the street
Wow, what a CLEAN group of cars! Those owners really love them, I can't imagine how hard it must be to find all the NOS parts to do a full restoration like that.
Whoa, this was epic! Do more like this!
Larry brings such a creative and artistic approach to capturing the beauty of car culture, I have loved how this partnership has opened up some really cool doors for him to showcase some amazing collectors and collections.
Beautiful to see so many owners celebrate the different aspects of that car.
His love and passion for these cars made my heart smile 😊
Loves this. Keep the ae86 content alive
I’ve got two of these cars dam I love seeing the scene in other countries
This is without a doubt the BEST simple cool Toyota ever made
Larry- wow. Good work. Your transitions are beautiful. You are a great story teller.
WOW! Thank you, Larry! Amazing! 😊❣
Just loved the rolling shot of all the AE86. Well done 👍🏽
so impressive!!
Very nice coverage. The owner knows his facts too. These car are icons indeed. I Like the tribute style to Initial D thumbnail to. 👍
That's a cool car to fix up .. I had an 83 Isuzu Impulse... Lots of fun, cool look and handled like it was on rails.... I miss that car.
It's amazing how expensive these cars are. When they first came out they were sub $10,000 US. I remember when my aunt got one when she got married, it was all she could talk about it. It was a fun car to drive through.
You drove _through_ your aunt's Corolla? What's wrong with you?
Fantastic to see this passion about these cars...
All of those 86s are done so perfectly
Beautiful country, awesome passion for these cars--great vid!
This guy's attention to detail is crazy
Those AE86's such an awesome moment

Malaysia have 4unit ae86 original black limited, worldwide only 400unit.
The GR 86 is my favorite car ever, I am so glad to see AE86es being so loved and kept on the road, this could be me in the future with the current 86.

Keeping my stock and low mileage for years to come never gonna drive in rain
10/10 for cleanliness!!! Great job! ☮
Another fantastic video. Keep them coming.
oh my. MALAYSIA!!!!
Thanks for the video and informative
best thing about irish 8 6 culture is the nickname; just called a twin cam, and everyone knows exactly the car you're talking about !
Wow Malaysia is womething else. Crazy car scenes
A remember driving to Nottingham to loom at a red one with the stripes alloys etc but it 6 grand and this was in 89 !!!
When the first shot is Larry hanging out of a car - you know it's gonna be good 😅
Was that a pop start? In reverse? Never thought about doing it in reverse
Wow, great episode
Very cool to see them on the road still! Sidebar, AE86 always reminds me of one of elon musk’s kids’ names
That are popular because they are killer and someone made the best cartoon series story about it. Project D. ✌🏼💪🏼
12:05 brings back memories seeing the Limited in period.

So amazing to see
Hachi roku heaven! I miss my AE86!
If i had driver licence my first car is the AE86 and if i had lots of money i would modified the AE86 into actually Takumi's AE86 from 5th and final stages.
My AE86 would have a actual TRD Group A racing engine.
AE86 was very popular on sabah road during the 90’
I love the Proton 86!
Eurobeat intensifies!
Hargety pls change that god awful AI thumbnail, we can clearly see that a road just appears out of nowhere, just use one of Larry's photos or pay an artist to do a real thumbnail
omg so many of them!!!!
I see AE86, I like 👍🏾
Why the AI generated thumbnail, Hagerty? Surely you guys aren't that low on budget
edit: thumbnail has been changed about 2 days after publishing
Judging by Jason's content, you're 100% right
lol their website giving me 403 error
Damn the Malaysians must take their Tofu seriously..
It's the gathering of the Hachi Tofus
It’s priceless IMO
AE86 ❤❤❤
Very passionate owners
the inflation on this automobile is like wanting a french frie from your friend and ending up stealing his whole bag
Hey how about you guys try to explore the "Malaysian Car" such as Proton Satria GTI or Proton Satria Neo?
WAIT! Is "Fun To Drive" the original Fast & Furious Font!?
The AI thumbnail was dumb and unnecessary since there are so many beautiful shots during the video. Leave the art for human artists.
Is that an a.i. thumbnail? It's weird and makes me uncomfortable
It sadly is, honestly I expected them to do better than that ngl
It obviously makes no sense... 🤦♂️
Larry fallen really low if he uses AI generated image as a thumbnail for his video
@@alphaenterprise2232 it makes zero sense if he is a car photographer. Like why not use one of your own works as the thumbnail instead? Hopefully it was just some stupid decision the higer ups decided to do and not Larry.
@@aguruattapiano current thumbnail is one of the pictures he took that is shown towards the end of the video.

Big WOW
Drop this ai thumbnail garbage why not just use the opening shot of the video?
We just love initial D
what happened to Barn Finder ?
Definitely missing Tom
Barn Find Hunter is still on our channel, new episodes drop every two weeks. We have a big episode coming up so that's why this week's was delayed.
was Takumi there?
Don't Forget the Toyota Starlet the Ae86 little brother
Swapped Bluetooth out of a Corolla.
wow nice .....
Hayashi the goat
ai thumbnail is horrible, i expect better
It's a whole ass dealership
That place is called Kota damansara how I know my school is there
AI generated thumbnail 👎
🔥🔥🔥
A slop thumbnail of a car that’s been photographed a billion times with actual human art of it as well. Unsubbed
that police car do be chill leddat
Did this video views get bombed?
This make me proud bring back old days
