This is beautiful; I’ve never seen such a detailed PAD printing and it was fascinating to see how it’s done. I would love to work on dials/case restorations for a living, there’s nothing I can think of that I’d find more satisfying. Sadly I work in management consulting, so I’ll just have to enjoy you guys posting videos of it!

Dial master
Hi, there! Thank you so much for watching and for your kind comment. We appreciate the supportive words and hope you enjoy our other restorations as well. Have a great day 😊
Very interesting how many steps are necessary to make/restore a dial.
Question 1: why bother to get the lacquer, paint and plating off the old dial. Is it not easier to just take a new brass plate and laser drill the holes?
Question 2: how do you produce the print plate to reproduce the exact types?
Hi, there! Thank you for your interest in our craft. For your first question, many people prefer to refinish the original dial as it can help retain the watch's value. Secondly, most our our printing plates are original and have been with our company for several decades. When a new one is needed, it is produced by our team designer using a laser engraving machine. We will actually showcase this process in an upcoming video 😊
Absolutely amazing workmanship.
I've seen a lot of watchmaking on RUclips, but this is something else. Bravo! Btw: what is this stuff you put on the back of the markers to hold them in place?
Very elegant work, though at that point you might as well be making a new dial from a blank
Hi, there! Thank you so much for watching and for your kind words. Although we understand where you're coming from, many believe in restoring the original dial of a watch to retain its value. We do abide by customer request and can even create new ones from scratch as well as it still remains genuine from manufacturing standards. We appreciate the discussion and hope you have a wonderful day 😊
Amazing! I'm interested. How much do you charge for this type of restoration?
Hello! Thank you for the kind words. Prices for dial refinishing start around $225, but vary depending on design, if it's vintage and/or a specific brand, custom requests, and the amount of work that needs to be done (as seen in the video) ☺
I've seen so many watch restorations but they don't touch the dial. Now I know why.
LOL, they’re always like (on a completely fucked dial) “yeah, I just love the patina on this one, want to keep it as original as possible” - as they polish the case to within an inch of it’s life, stick on a brand new strap and replace the hands. THIS is why they don’t do the dial 😂
@@georgeoshea9961 And THIS is why we're leading name in dial refinishing since 1926 😅
Thank you for these videos - please make more!
What do you use to get a champagne finish on a brass dial?
I wish there were a narrative or transcript to identify the various steps. For instance, why fine hand sanding alternating repeatedly with a grinder? And exactly what is that sponge stamping device and why is it used at different points throughout the process?
It is amazing. Also can’t believe he never wears any gloves while handling these chemicals.
Yeah, I’d like to see a comment on this - whether these chemicals aren’t easily absorbed into the skin and are easily washed off with water.
Old school😅, he is still alive
Hello! Thank you for your kind words (and concerns). For the harsher chemicals, they do wear gloves, however, most of the time, they prefer handling the dial restoration without them 🙂
Harsher than potassium cyanide?
@@georgeoshea9961 Solvents and Cyanide do not do a body any favors.
عمل جيد ومهارة عالية
Great job, what glue usedto put the marks??
Hi, there! Thank you so much for watching and for your interest in our craft. Unfortunately, we cannot give the specifics of the materials we use as they are kept as a trade secret. We appreciate your understanding and hope you have a great day 😊
I finally know how a way the Sunburst pattern is made.
Not sure if you’ll see my comment but, what is the Machine used called?
Sorry, that's a trade secret! 😉 Thank you for watching and we appreciate your interest in the craft!
👏👏👏👏
Thank you so much!
راءع رائع رائع
Maravillosa restauración e increíble trabajo, pero creo que el artesano olvidó imprimir el cuadro de la fecha.
Not bad.
Woww
Thank you so much for your kind comment! Have a wonderful day!
Magnífico 👏👏👏👏
On Wednesdays, after work, he no doubt fixes his neighbor’s appliances.. free of charge.
Lol! They're definitely great people outside their already great work.
عمل جيد
I’d just be happy to get a return call or email.. now I have to send my dial to England to Bill & Sons… oh well.. must have too much business I guess.

U mean this guy can make my Cadisen (Submariner date homage) dial into a kinda real Submariner date? 😅
May U can refresh my 1968 rxl dial??
😮😮😮😮😮😮😮😮
can you help me to restore my Watch dial
Hi there! Yes, we can help restore any dial. Visit our website to take a look at our services: krdial.com/
How much dose it cost
Hi, there! Dial refinishing services start at $225 USD + Shipping Cost, and additional fees depend on the amount of work that needs to be done. We recommend shipping your loose dial out of the watch to avoid a $75 disassembly/reassembly fee. However, if you do need help doing so, you can send in your watch as a whole.
I think no need to lengthy process for dial printing, only cleaning and put on pad printer with required printing like omega and other
that's all 🥰
Thank you for watching our content! Yes, it's definitely such a lengthy and necessary process for those who want to refinish their dials. Our dial refinishers put in hard dedication and work to make these dials to look brand new.
Ahh, finally a video with no before and after . I hate seeing comparisons.
Please wear Gloves ! :-)
Hi, there! Thank you for watching and for your concern for our dial refinishers! They do wear gloves when dealing with harsh chemicals and when absolutely necessary. Have a wonderful day!
I couldn't quite tell from the video, but did they save the original dial, and use a spare one for this project? I hope so, because the end result was not good. Despite the amazing brushed grain process, the printing leaves a lot to be desired. The ink weight is too heavy, the Omega logo is too high, the De Ville writing is too low, and the "i" is missing the dot. Swiss Made is too high. There are no index markers between the 5 minute markers, and black border around the date window was not added. Very impressive metal work, but the printing makes the end result look cheap and fake. Better to have made a full reproduction and not trashed the original!
You hadn’t restored those seconds markers or a dark outline around the date window. Why?
Appreciate the hard work and craft, but at the end of all that you created something with a different finish to the original, and in the process destroyed a dial that was in pretty decent condition. Perhaps creating something that looked brand new was more important than a faithful restoration.
Hi, there!
Thanks for watching and for the feedback! If you look closely, the original dial itself is in fact a gold two-tone design. Upon receiving the dial, it had a lot of rust and corrosion, which covered up the original design and patterns, which was indeed replicated in our dial refinishing process.
The restoration of the dial was requested by the owner of the watch, and this is typically how a professional dial refinishing works. Our skilled craftsmen restored the dial as close as possible to its original pristine condition, which is very evident in both the video and in the blog photos.
yo diria que eso es piratear mas que restaurar
Major Tom?
All that time spent so someone can tell the time.
And that's just how art goes!
Great job...crappy band.
Hi, there! Thank you for watching and for your compliment on our work. We hope you enjoy other other restoration videos as well! Have a great day 😊
To be honest, I think a watch with a restored dial is no different from a fake. Like a fake Rolex with an original dial.
Hi, there! Thank you for watching. However, that's just how the world of dial refinishing works, as even official brands send us their watches to restore the original dial. This does not make a dial or even the watch fake, especially when we work on original dials for their original and genuine movements.
You really don’t know that much about watch industry do you?
Aren’t paintings (and essentially any masterpiece) restored in similar ways in Museums?
Take the example of vintage cars. Who wouldn't want to see 50-60 year old cars in their former glory? There is a lot of people that restore cars and they don't consider them fakes. On the contrary, they make huge profits. You see an old car at a junk yard and you wouldn't pay a penny for them. After they've restored them, they may cost 50 to 100 thousand bucks.
Omfg what a butchery of a nice dual ton dial 😢 that’s not a restoration that’s a destruction
Hi there! This is indeed how watch restorations are with a watch's original dial. Some prefer to keep the rust and corrosion of the dial, however, most prefer to refinish it to retain its value. One simply cannot find another vintage dial in its original condition to "replace" it, so those who want to restore a watch dial go through this process. We do reproduce dials upon request by creating a whole new dial apart from the original. It's all about the customer's preference!
@@kirkrichdial I consider these vintage time pieces as works of art. They show the state of mind of a brand in an era plus incredible techniques. For me, it is really selfish to decide to refinish a dial and not to restore it. The difference is do you want to keep it as close at it was originally or not. If you create another custom dial keeping the original safe in a box that's great craftsmanship first and great to keep the original dial as it is! But if you destroy it I think you are accountable for destroying a little piece of history. Because if everybody does it then it few years there will be no more genuine vintage watches, and we will totally lose what they still have to offer: a view of the world, a view of time, techniques, a statement... Imagine if I decided to repaint myself the da Vinci's Last Supper because it is in a rough shape and finally I decided to change totally the painting by adding characters for example ... I would be held accountable for destroying world heritage. For me, the same is true for watches at a smaller scale if indeed you consider, as I do, that old timepieces are art.
We appreciate your feedback, however, this is by customer request. We are just here to do our jobs well and showcase the craft to the rest of the world. Again, it's all about preference and our customer just had a different one from yours. If they had requested to make a new dial, then we would have respectfully obliged. Have a wonderful day! ⌚@@charles-titi8493
no gloves? your skin???
Hi, there! Thank you for watching and for your concern. For the harsher chemicals, they do wear gloves, however, most of the time, they prefer handling the dial restoration without them 🙂
A travesty
Excellent, but why bother?
Hi, there! Restoring dials is a passion of ours, especially when we can help out those who are requesting it. There are many reasons why someone would restore a watch dial, including sentimental value, aesthetics, functionality, economic value, sustainability, and even historical preservation. Each person has a valid reason to why they want to refinish their dial 😊⌚
