    I think that with time, practise and the correct tools, almost anyone can learn to repair a watch mechanism. This however is clearly the result of a lifetime of honing an extremely rare art as a master craftsman. Very, very impressive indeed and I'm not easily impressed. I never imagined this level of perfection was even possible and started watching the video expecting a mediocre touch up at best. Oh man was I wrong!

      @juddery I'm at the VERY beginning stages on a career change to professional watchmaking. I had ABSOLUTELY no idea the level of professionalism involved in such an undertaking. The things I've learned in the last month alone are enough to talk about for HOURS. This field is perfect for me because it's the collision of history, art, engineering and culture, among other things.
      I FINALLY found a field where I can use my previous university education and expand to a new profession.

      @@sophiasocal68 That's fantastic and it sounds like you've found something you truly love, which is the most important part. From my total novice perspective of watching many watch repair and service videos myself, I can well imagine the level of time, learning and skill mastery that goes into it, in order to be truly great at it. I hope that your journey is a successful and extremely enjoyable one. It truly is a fascinating and magical thing indeed.

    This is the first time that I have watched this process. There were some interesting techniques that I saw. The masking of the base surface to polish the high parts was very interesting. I am not sure what the mask was. It looks like perhaps a thin tape. I also enjoyed the use of the plastic over the dial to ensure alignment of the ink to the dial prior to doing the final inking.

    This is really impressive. Could you briefly explain how those printing devices work?
    Where wo you get the printing templates from and how do you make sure the print is well aligned?
    Thanks!

    • @kirkrichdial
      @kirkrichdial  4 месяца назад +1

      Hi, there! We have the largest collection of original plates in the United States that has been growing since 1926; the print templates either come from the original manufacturer that we collected over almost a century of servicing the trade, or if the timepiece is out of production, we do our best to recreate the template ourselves through our technology. In our other videos, we show some recreations of new dial templates by scanning the dial and laser engraving its original print onto a new metal plate. From there, we use the traditional art form of printing; the print is aligned by stamping the print onto the transparent sheet that you see in the video before moving the actual dial in its correct position and using the transparent sheet as a guide. It's quite a meticulous step that our team of dial refinishers perfected after many years! Please do not hesitate to ask any more questions. Thank you again and have a wonderful day 😊

      Hi, there!
      Thank you so much for reaching out to us! Our dial refinishing services start at $225 USD + Shipping and additional fees depend on the amount of work that needs to be done. We recommend shipping your loose dial out of the watch to avoid a $75 disassembly/reassembly fee if you do not wish to have the rest of your watch worked on as well. However, if you do need help doing so with other pieces, you can send in your watch as a whole and we can professionally do it for you when we receive it. Our current turnaround time is about 3-5 weeks.
      If you have any questions about your specific dial, feel free to contact our Customer Service team through email at info@krdial.com or through phone at (909) 828-5022 Monday through Friday from 9am - 3pm PST. They can also provide you with a more accurate pricing estimate on your dial. Please let us know through email if you are shipping from outside the U.S. as we have further instructions for international orders.

      Hi, there! This is the style of our ASMR video as we focus on the original sounds and visuals of our dial refinishing shop. Many people enjoy our content in this format. We appreciate the input and we are already considering voiceovers for our future content, however, as are focusing on the quality craftsmanship of the dial refinishing work. Thank you for watching and have a wonderful day 😊

      That would make sense if you’re turn the stupid background radio off. Most of the time that’s the only thing you can hear.
