Beautiful result. I would like to know why these many steps are done. Polishing, rinsing, plating, varnishing (repeat) Be carefull with all that thinner and acetone on your skin.

    • @kirkrichdial

Hi, there! Thank you for watching and for the kind words.
Our process has a lot of repeating steps as we want to make sure that the quality of the restoration is at the utmost quality it can be. The texture, color, intensity, etc. are all important to get right at that step, or else we would need to start the entire process over again. We always want to make sure the outcome is perfect!
Also, thank you for your concern on the chemicals. For the harsher chemicals, they do wear gloves, however, most of the time, they prefer handling the dial restoration without them 🙂
      Have a wonderful day!

Hi, there! Thank you so much for watching and for your interest in our craft. Although we can't share the exact details of what the white powder is, we can say that it's an abrasive that helps clean up the dial before we add any color and paint.

Also the small luminous dots where either radium or tritium. You don’t want that permeating your skin after being dissolved in that liquid! At least it would be good if you used nitrile gloves which are thin but still protective. Take care!

I am sad that so much of labour was put into this and still it clearly looks like a refurbished dial as the signature and swiss are too thick and markers are missing their original stripes due to the scrubbing. Otherwise job well done.
