Not that it matters 4 years later but it may help someone else. The bolts you mentioned that are NOT factory, ARE factory. They are the ones that go on the transmission end. The people who worked on it last swapped their location by mistake. The first set on silver star bolts that you removed earlier at the transmission end belong on the axle end. Also, the washers go under the nuts, and not the bolt heads of all 6 bolts that hold the driveshaft to both couplers three bolts per end. The other 6 bolts (three bolts per end) that go from transmission to coupler and coupler to rear axle, have the washer under the bolt head. It's for balancing reasons and not placing the hardware in the correct locations, leads to premature carrier bearing and coupler failure due to axial and radial unbalance. I know all this because I'm the original owner of a 2011 Chrysler 300 3.6L and currently doing this same job.
Hello, I have a 2015 Dodge Charger RT and it is making some weird noise as I drive. It stops when I stop and it also makes the noise in reverse. I put it up on jack stands and it still made the noise. It's like rubber gear as I drive and I think it is the rear end. What was the noise or problem this charger had? Why did you change it?
Looked for a video for my car but there aren’t any out there . Here’s some info to hopefully help someone from making the same mistake I did. 2015 charger se awd rear drive shaft cannot be disassembled. You will have to replace the entire shaft. Between $ 1000-1400.
Thanks, just picked up a Dodge Magnum and it needs a center support bearing done. Found you video quite handy. I don't have a hoist..lol. After seeing the 2 shafts separate while you were re installing , do you think it's possible to leave the front half in the car? Like I said I'm doing this without a hoist and laying on my back. Going to try it that way. Thanks for the video!
@@CoopersAutomotiveRepair Worth a shot, going to try later today, worst case I will have to drop the front. Let you know. Thanks Subscribed and hit the bell, cheers
I finally got my hanger bearing replaced. I was able to remove just the back half of the driveshaft and it worked like a charm. It seemed easier as it was just me laying on the ground, and the back half was heavy enough to balance while aligning the splines back together, I used your idea of marking the 2 shafts... I found a pencil crayon...lol. Thanks for the video !
I have a 2012 charger srt it has a vibration on highway when i accelerate. When i leave the pedal it stops. Coupling aft is ok. Could the carrier bearing do this?
Nice video .. I just want to know if i remove the complete exhaust it could be more easy to have acces to the driveshaft bearing while puting together ? Or is not worth it to remove the exhaust
Just for reference for anyone curious, the dealership charges $1400 just for labor. I called the other day and asked. I’ll be doing this to my 15 R/T soon.
Thanks for the video. I got a Dodge Charger SRT8 2014. It makes a single clunk noise when I change gear from Reverse to Drive, and Drive to Reverse, and also when I accelerate o decelerate. What could it be? Center bearing support? Driveshaft coupling? Maybe it is a normal noise as my other Skoda automatic also does it sometimes (less strong though) and it is new. Thanks again for the video!
Should be a simple diagnosis by looking at the drive shaft see if there’s any excessive play up and down at the support bearing and twist in the south back-and-forth seeing if there’s any place that way in a couple hours
No you don’t have to replace the whole driveshaft only the dealership will replace it he whole thing..it’s about $1000 from dealership..you can buy both rubber driveshaft spacers and centre support bearing for about $250
@@dabirdman2471 Yes, On the 2015 model you have to change the whole drive shaft. It does not split apart. Here is my write up on it. www.300cforums.com/threads/driveshaft-bearing-can-it-be-replaced.278437/#post-2801908

I have to do this job on my 2010 Dodge Charger awd 3.5L it’s really bad..
@ralprogaming yes, kind of like the tire was going to fall off.
After hearing about this bearing I wonder if it seized up before the bushing came apart?
Not sure about that it’s possible

Yes
Did u mark ur bolts before take out shaft !! Bc shaft is balanced go back bolted same as from factory!! Or the shaft will vibrate
I appreciate the comment but of course doing this for 35 years
@@CoopersAutomotiveRepair nice posted then so others can see nd do as safety measures!!

I remove things a lot of times to make it easier so that would be fine

How much would your shop charge for this exact job? Curious cause I have this being done for $480 with parts and labor in Houston.
This was my sons car so I did this for no charge. I would say probably 300 bucks
Thats crazy cause the part cost around 50. Or 60 dlls so 400 labor for 1.hour or 2 thats lot of money
the champion yep that one hurt!

Doesn't show actually changing the bearing at all
