A lot of the greatest scientific discoveries of all time started with an accident. Basically, you experiment, something unexpected happens and then you spend a lot of time and effort figuring out what the hell happened, with more experiments. This time though it's a bunch of theoretical physicists fucking with math until it gave them what they wanted, which is also great but unfortunately not worth much until the tech exists to try it out.
@@lemax6865 The tech part isn't all that hard if it doesn't require new materials (the problem with room temperature superconductors). Once the math says it can happen, you just let the engineers do their thing. From splitting the atom to glassing 2 Japanese cities for touching our boats took less than a decade. The Wright brothers to prototype jets a generation. Nazis dropping rockets on London to Soviet and American landers on the moon (the Soviets were 1st but unmanned) another generation. If this warp drive doesn't require something like fusion (maybe even then with recent energy positive experiments) or antimatter to fuel and can be built with existing materials we could probably get a working prototype in a surprisingly short amount of time. Provided it's properly funded of course. They're still refining the math atm so who knows.
@@davidkelly4210 That's the thing though. When they say "we don't have the technology", what they mean is usually either "we don't have the means of producing (or storing) enough energy", or "we don't have the required materials/the materials required are prohibitively expensive to produce in sufficient quantities". There's also the occasional "we don't have enough computing ability". Not much really "requires" fusion power or antimatter anihilation reactors, it's just that those ways of producing energy would solve the first of those two categories of problem and a good bit of the second if we could get them to work, and that's proven to be rather difficult. I acknowledge that the first step in any great leap in technology and science is getting the math to work, hence why I said "which is also great". I also however realise that between figuring out the math and the engineers getting the product out, there are sometimes *decades* of work involved, fusion being a good example, the math's been there since Einstein. "Fusion power is only 20 years away" is a meme for a reason.

@@lemax6865 or in some cases, it means that they’ve already built it and aren’t telling anyone.
Grandpa Buff telling sci fi stories…I didn’t know I needed this in my life.
We all need more Grandpa Buff
Watching the F-22 take off at JBER is always the best part of my day. Watching them play in the sky with their exhaust trail is amazing!
Why do I feel like every literal video is just pure gold yet somehow also better everytime lol
Love the Stargate reference. Greatest sci-fi space travel show of all time.
I think that the Kid might need a bit of "alone time" to contemplate the thought of going Bug Intercepting.
If the hangar is a rockin...fuckin duck!
F22 looked way too....into it? Watch out for spilled fluids on the hangar floor!
Seriously this was a super great skit, in a line of great skits.
I love how the “don’t touch the boats” line goes back and forth between United States and Japan. Don’t know about any of you but I am looking forward to the day that Japan gets tired of telling others not to touch the boats. I can just imagine them saying “You know what? Screw it. You don’t want to listen to me. So you can just learn the hard way.”.
I'm waiting for the day that the Kaga and an incarnation of the Enterprise are in a task force together. Gonna be so weird to read that in the papers.
Old rivals, now allies
@@Hardbass2021 Even older friends. WW2 was just a misunderstanding between the US and Japan. We we've been friends since the 1800s.
@@taemien9219 to be fair, the friendship was kind of "forced" from the beginning. See Matthew Perry's expedition there.
@@skylershummingbird1667 they need to name one of their helicopter carriers Akagi. It'd be only right to see CVN80 and a new Akagi sailing side by side.
I have to thank HLC for these videos. They are a constant source of entertainment for my 13 year old son and myself. We absolutely love The Kid, Buff, And all the rest. It has brightened our lives in a very real way and has had our sides hurting from laughing so consistently and so long. PLEASE Keep it up and again thank you for all the laughs that are SO NEEDED in these times. Give em hell boys!
And I've been into those scifi space stories cause they are long enough I don't have to stop my morning routine to look for the next thing to keep my brain squirrel busy so that I can get shit done. Haha
We just got a message from the Klingons saying that F-22's in space is too much, even by Klingon standards.
I would watch a movie about BUFF and the kid taking on some Xenomorphs.
Get on it, Hollywood.
No. Hollywood would fucking ruin it.
Start a crowdfund for HLC to plot, script and direct it. Only then will it truly shine as it deserves to.
I need buff in space now. That's a whole spinoff by itself. Fucking goosebumps.
Honestly LOVE these videos. Keep it up!!!
😂😅😂😅😂😅😂😅😂😅😂😅😂 I can't. I can't. I can't stop laughing at this. Omg, I'm fucking dead. Please keep these coming. Uncle buff be going hard on storytime.
You know what FUCK it, as a Nebraskan and farmer of corn im fine with being acknowledged for just CORN😂😂😂
Wear it with pride, corn is amazing. It's food by itself, it's an ingredient in lots more food, it can be used for biofuel, it can be used for grain alcohol and all that comes with that (cheers), all of that and more at an economically viable price tag. People don't put enough respect on the name.
Video really went sideways when Grandpa Buff started his tall tales, but his stories are just awesome. I love Grandpa Buff, especially when he did a Sean Connery bit: "He sends one of yours to the hospital, you send one of his to the morgue."
I’m still on the ad, but based on this title, I say FOR DEMOCRACY!!!
Edit: I mean, I was close?
F-22 intercepting bugs.... Yeap, that's democracy right there
Liberty speed your step, Helldiver.
Glassing cybers and intercepting bugs.... for democracy and Super Earth.
Nope, it's for the Constitutional Republic.
Thank you for talking about Domestic Violence. As someone who, not only grew up watching my mother go through it, I’ve also experienced it myself.
I believe that it ALWAYS needs more attention. Jokes, done in the right way, bring attention to what millions of people are going through.
Remember ladies and gentlemen, NO ONE has the RIGHT to hurt you. ❤ Stay Safe.
We need more space Buff stories 🤣 that was awesome!
Just the thought of Grandpa Buff glassing bug worlds with the Kid escorting... ... ... I think I'm gonna cry.😂
"just tell me you fucking hate me". 😂😂😂 He ment that
Ah, just what I needed today.
I've noticed a sharp uptick in vatnik-content in my timeline on the hellsite, Elmo obviously fumbled with the algorithm, so this was a nice cleanse.
Dude, that was the best idea I’ve heard for a space warfare game/movie/ novel in a very, very long time. I need this!
I love your channel, great job addressing the Diddy issue and making a point to correct it in some way. Keep them videos coming
"Including space canoes"... Can't wait to see what TFE does with that one!!!!
Keep up the great work amigo!
Who would have thought that Grandpa Buff was a SciFi author. 👍🤣😂
naw, hes just gotten to stage 2 senility, where he nolonger remembers the past, he remembers the future
@@F14thunderhawk great comment 👍🤣
Buff probably met Robert Heinlein in person.
We really need to let 22 out and play, he's been kinda good 😂. And I'm with Florida Raise hale Praise Dale
I think Linecrosser has been playing Helldivers, lately.
It’s so heartwarming that Grandpa Buff makes it canon that the F-22 will be joining him on the first intergalactic war.
I laughed so hard when buff was making this story, and F-22EX was absolutely fucking perfect.
HLC, make a spinoff series based on Buff's fanon lore.
This needs to exist, it has to exist, I would watch this all day.
Isn’t that just ‘humans are space orcs’?
I love the content bro, I definitely look forward to it daily
Same, literally part of my daily routine watching these now
The way Buff made sure to include the Kid in his story to cheer him up is a nice touch.
This might have been your best one yet. Keep up the good work brother.
