    Alison Krauss has always struck me as an old soul, self-possessed and wise beyond her years. She would have been just barely sixteen years old at the time of this performance.

    BIG THANKS to Taylor510 you have posted some great moments in american music....As far as wayfaring stranger is concerned...I've heard many versions. The ultimate best is on the "Gather by the River" DVD..done by a russian band with the help of Mr. Rowan...it's mind boggoling.

    @proposals I also like Neko Case's version of this song, however, that does not diminish in any way the beauty of this version by the astonishingly talented Ms. Krauss

    I love Alison Krauss. But I have to wonder, has she ever consummated her relationship with Robert Plant ? No I would never ask her, but it is out there. Plant was a Golden Rock Idol of metal. Alison, such a lamb.

    Who was playing with her? I know thats not Ron Block on Banjo cause he didn't come in till 91 and I know its probably John Pennel on bass but who are the banjo and guitar players. I know its not Tim cause he didn't come till 90 and I know its not Dan cause he didn't come till 94

    She doesn't play fiddle as much as she used to...which is too bad because she's a very good fiddle player. I think Tony Rice is the guit player.

    Eh. If you want to hear a woman really belt this song out beautifully, look up the versions done by Neko Case.

  • @emncaity
    @emncaity 16 лет назад

    Not sure what you mean. The majority of her sustained notes these days are done with little to zero vibrato at all, much different than the style she uses here. I really don't know whether it was a conscious choice or not, but it could be; old-style mountain music, drawing heavily from the sean-nos style of Irish singers, tended to feature little to no vibrato.

    @nascargurl14 Thanks I thought it was just me that was developing hateful thoughts against them. Check out Trace Adkin's cover EXX0S9P1SUo of this song that goes back many years. It was originally made famous by the early bluegrass singers such as Bill Monroe and others. Check his acapella version LI92oDdXazg Should be in the list to your right>>>

    Too bad Hollywood had to ruin her. A sweet country gal with a great voice and a cool band. They're history now, because they were told to act and dress a certain way, so wrong. Another potential success story quashed.

    • @daveross2186
      @daveross2186 10 лет назад +10

      trellis2 Hollywood? Ruined? Success story quashed? You're certainly entitled to your opinion, but IMHO the facts speaks otherwise. More Grammys than any living artist. The most recognized and respected acoustic instrumental ensemble. Unmatched vocals. And the best Dobro player on the planet. They are, in fact, history now.
