What is lovely is seeing (from comments etc) is The Hu having a lot of native american fans because of the similarities. I don't know why but this music just makes me smile. the hu band amazing The “XXL Violin” (as you called it) is the Morin Khuur (Horse Head Fiddle), it has 2 “strings” that (traditionally) are made from the tail hairs from a horse (traditionally the hairs must come from the player’s own horse to bind player to instrument and vice versa), the “Male” string has 150 hairs and the “Female” string has 130 hairs. The “guitar” is actually a Tovshuur (Mongolian Lute) and only has 3 strings.
I am seeing Hu and LP at a local venue, sadly separately, in September and November. I have seen LP, so I know it will be awesome. For them it is my first time, I have no doubt it will be a good night. The venue is right by work, if they make it to my shop, I will try not to fan girl, but will get a photo.
