Traditional instruments used by The Hu: a MORIN KHUUR (the horsehead fiddle), a TOVSHUUR (or 3-stringed lute), TSUUR (Mongolian flute), and a TUMUR KHUUR (a Jew's harp).
Love your reaction. Just like mine. I hope you found The words and the rest of their fantastic video's. I have been lucky enough tø see them both times they were in Stockholm. A was just a few feet awsy. The whole room vibrated from their throut singing. Im old and my body is broken bug these guys get me out of bed everyday, 🤩🤩🤩🤩😎😎😎🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹
I like the symbolism of modern warriors following the lead of an ancient warrior, upholding traditions. The inner strength of the Mongolian Hunnu (Huns to the westerners). I understand HU means humans.
Nobody reviewing this song has looked at the cultural significance of the traditional Mongolian warrior on horseback in the beginning transitioning into a modern version on motorcycles. Very cool IMHO
The Hu who they are the coolest awesomest band on the planet they keep getting better over time and if you ever have the opportunity to see them live take it. The musical instruments include Morin Khuur aka horse head fiddle, Tovshuur and their genre is called HUNNU Rock. Some other videos to check out are Yuve Yuve Yu, The Great Chinggis Khaan, This Is The Mongol , Some of their videos have English subtitles if you turn on the closed captions. They also have songs with some English speaking artists such as Song Of Women with Lizzie Hale from Halestorm, a remix of Wolf Totem with Jacoby Shaddix from Papa Roach. They also have a song from Star Wars Called Sugaan Essena from a video game. Actually this is based on a 19 century war chant.
as an american mongolian, I never cared about mongolia or mongolians. spent 30 years just being american. Then I heard the hu. wow, my reaction was like yours. It's a shame I can't speak or read the language.
OK I am amazed! The Huns still exist only they traded in their horses for Harleys! Now I know why the Chinese were so frightened of them they built the great wall.By the way I love your reactions Cat!
Loved your smile the whole way through, l caught this video with English subtitles early 2019, and instantly blown away even before Galaa started singing. Became a Humaniac and followed everything since then. Culminating in driving 2000kms to Brisbane Australia to see them live March 17 2020 which ended up being their final Concert worldwide because of covid. Amazing concert, best l have ever been to. Their first album came out Sept 13 2019, it has been the only CD in my car since that day. Please do other HU songs,
As far as looking up the words, just watch the video again with captions on. They have a contextual translation so you can get the meaning in almost all of their songs
It’s like past meets present for the representation with the bikes. It’s also a warning song saying if you come for us we will fight back of basic terms. I love these guys so much.
Glad to see you back. What I would recommend is take a look at some of the other reactors and see the names of songs that haven't been blocked when they have reacted - it will give you a read on bands that it's safer to react to without the blocking issues. Also react to other songs by bands/artists you have already reacted too as you know they are unlikely to be blocked. As for the Mongolian throat singing - those guys conquered pretty much all of Asia into Europe 700 odd years ago and had amazing armor and horse archers so the bikie look actually fits pretty well as culturally it's a fairly obvious evolution of their traditional cultural elements. My favorite Mongol has to be Princess Khutulun - Born around 1260 and raised with her 14 brothers, Khutulun excelled at horse riding, archery and wrestling, with the latter arguably the source of her reputation. Khutulun refused to marry unless the prospective husband could beat her in wrestling and it is said that she never lost, and even when her family told her to, instinct took over. Her suitors had to wager horses for the opportunity to fight and she is said to have amassed a stable of 10,000 from her victories, as large as any emperor of the time. She eventually married for love without the wrestling according to legend. Such reports come from the writing of Marco Polo and Persian writer Rashad al-Din, who travelled through Asia at the time and given both those guys reputation for embellishing or outright lying a lot of it could be made up but if even partly true she was a real bad-ass. She is supposedly the inspiration for the main character in Pucini's Turandot.
The biker club are The Mongolian Choppers Brotherhood out of Ulaan Bataar. We tend to consider them to be the REAL Mongols MC! Great bunch of fellows, or so I am told. We also consider them to be the modern day incarnation of the Mongol Horde, which is the whole point of juxtaposing them with traditional Mongol warriors. And if you liked this, you should check out "Sugaan Essena", the song they did for "Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order."
Superb song. Fabulous rhythm and arrangement. Sensational stuff. Bought their album, Gereg, a while back - a really worthy purchase, though Wolf Totem and Yuve Yuve Yu are the two standout tracks. First encountered throat singing on a Frank Zappa recording - Dance Me This - and The Hu's throat singing is quite tame by comparison, though nonetheless superbly adapted to the music. Love it! You might, given Wolf is more modern than the usual GenX material, also fancy a listen to these few that also fall outwith the usual: Three Ships of Berik - Therion (it's a two-part song, and is best listened to with both parts segued); and, Paradise (What About Us) - Within Temptation featuring Tarja Turunen (I consider it the standard bearer for the whole symphonic rock genre); and, Fantasia - Stratovarius, possibly the masters of the same genre.
This was awesome when I first heard it, and over time has become even more awesome. It's the threatening, menacing, thrumming rhythm that does it, tying all the separate parts together beautifully. It throttles you and suffocates you, leaving you breathless by the end but wanting to repeat the experience again and again. And you do, like an addiction. Must get around to buying their second album; though I'm not expecting it to compete with this monster.
Cat Sarai Now, you know why China built their Great Wall? It was not for becoming an icon in the world! Because they were afraid be overtaken by the Huns (The HU's ancestors). This song means if you going to attack them; then they will defend! As part Cherokee, I understand their spirits of defending their culture. I have seen other "Nations" reacted to HU; they feel same as I do!
these were the original sons of chaos! Mountains of skulls, total destruction of enemy who didn't surrender ... let's hope WWIII doesn't knock us back into the stone age otherwise we'll be dealing with these maniacs again!

Good review. If you are into 90s music, how about a cover of Chris Isaac "Wicked Game" by Russian teen Diana Ankudinova. One of the most unique, beautiful voices you will ever hear. She was 15 at the time she sang this. She is 17 now.
@Cat...If you are curious about Mongolia check out a channel called Laowhy86. Filter to show oldest videos, he's American and lived and taught English in Mongolia for a year. He has a couple dozen vids he shot there. He also teamed up later with a South African called serpentza, who was the first person vlogging from China on RUclips & they made a pair of really good, professional road trip documentaries called, conquering Southern China & conquering Northern China...the northern one includes some great footage in Mongolia and interviews with the locals, including some traditional nomads. Your kids will love the The Hu doing Star Wars/Fallen Order a song for the video game Fallen Order (ruclips.net/video/oJZfEh3EciU/видео.html) it is the studio version and you get to see all the musicians at work!!! This is the best GYM song you can play when you workout (LOL) walk in with this playing and everyone gets out of your way!!!
You my friend are looking at what's called a Horse Fiddle or Murin Khuur if I'm not mistaken. Even if it only has 2 strings, damn thing could play mean tunes plus, play it the right way and it'll sound like a horse neighing, hense the name or at least that's the theory of how it got its name.
The remake by Five Finger Death Punch is new and very good, but the original Blue On Black by Kenny Wayne Shepard is something you should do a video on. Play both back to back. The original is one of my favorites ever and the remake by is a solid tune.
You had the same reaction I did when I first heard these guys. They're awesome. Have you seen the version with the subtitles yet? (PS I love that you don't stop the music too often. It's appreciated.)
I was wondering why doesn't everyone who does reactions on the hu band use captions? You can on their songs wolf totem, yuve yuve yu, and the great chinggus khuun.
now that you mention it, i do wish soa featured a mongolian biker gang. with the mongolians coming from the north via canada and the mayans from the south, would've made for an interesting storyline for the soa to deal with. i'm going to have to send a few emails. so, anyone up for sons of chingis?
Oh look, I haven't fallen off the earth! Coming back strong with my Mongolian throat music obsession. Enjoy!!
What a battle cry ,I felt it as did you .They nearly took Europe over ,as I’m sure you know.🇪🇺🌹

Do yourself a huge favour, spend ya cash and see these guys LIVE.The video is nothing compared to them live. They are AWESOME
The Hu Band,Mongolian Heavy Metal Band...using traditional and modern music intstrument with throat singing vocal.....badass
i thought I recognised it as throat singing. Incredible sound.
The Last song you hear before the Golden Horde burns down your village.
OK I am amazed! The Huns still exist only they traded in their horses for Harleys! Now I know why the Chinese were so frightened of them they built the great wall.By the way I love your reactions Cat!
Right? I'd fear them too. The words of the song are certainly a warning to their enemies, Hahaha!

Right?! It does sound epic.

Thanks for bringing The Hu under our attention.
It is the Hu (who). They played riot fest two years ago. I call them The Pogues of Mongolia. Traditional music with the modern metal they like.
Thanks for the pronunciation. It was quite awkward in the video fumbling through saying their name,
A year ago
