It's Mongol throat singing, the instruments are native to that region. And we are talking Genghis Khan ancestors man, these men's ancestors once rules nearly the whole world. The Mongols are the greatest warriors of all time in terms of lands conquered.
The Hu (stylized as The HU) is a Mongolian folk rock and heavy metal band formed in 2016.[1] With traditional Mongolian instrumentation, including the Morin khuur, the Tovshuur, and Mongolian throat singing, the band calls their style of music "hunnu rock", hu inspired by the Hunnu, an ancient Mongol/Turkic empire, known as Xiongnu in Mongolia. Some of the band's lyrics include old Mongolian war cries and poetry. The band say they didn't choose their name as a play on the Who's, but because “hu” is the root word for human being in Mongolian. “We took the name because of the inclusive nature,” Temka said. “It's not about being Mongolian. It's about being human.” At the same time, Mongolian themes dominate the band's lyrics.22 Oct 2019. Genghis Khan, Genghis also spelled Chinggis, Chingis, Jenghiz, or Jinghis, original name Temüjin, also spelled Temuchin, (born 1162, near Lake Baikal, Mongolia-died August 18, 1227), Mongolian warrior-ruler, one of the most famous conquerors of history, who consolidated tribes into a unified Mongolia and then extended his empire across Asia to the Adriatic Sea. Peace out.
Yaaasssss! I'm an Aussie and I've been enjoying all the Aussie content, but I've been dying for you to react to The Hu. They're Mongolian and the instruments are traditional horsehair string instruments. The signing is Mongolian throat singing, they are actually able to produce 2 different notes simultaneously, you need to look that one up you'll be blown away. And yes, they're singing about their cultural heritage, the Mongolian people and the Khan they mention is Genghis Khan. Another great rock tune from The Hu is Yuve Yuve Yu.
Oh when was that? I only discovered them a few months ago. Absolutely love 'em! I'm old, but have always liked music that's different. Even now. I'm Aussie, bty.
@@sunisbest1234 I first saw them the last night when Covid hit and we went into lockdown (Brisbane) They also did another tour in August last year. They have such an amazing stage presence as well. ruclips.net/video/iL1yrT3SrEc/видео.html This is my favourite song I recorded on the first tour
I only found these guys 12 months ago and was mind blown🤯. Incredible voices and the throat singing is an art. I really love their version of Metallica's Sad But True👍. Mongolia rocks!👏👏. We had a throat singer on one of our singing talent shows here in Oz, he was amazeballs 🥰. Thanks Beck and Nick 💕
The HU are just awesome. Mongolian throat singing with traditional instruments, just hits you them epic vibes. They are saying as a Mongolian culture no matter how you come we'll fight with something better!! This song isn't supposed to be a threat really it's supposed to give you courage and to say that no matter what you're going through you can beat it!! Be STRONG!!
Wow, I’m impressed you were given this as a request. The HU are my go-to band for when I want to introduce someone to a genre of music they’ve probably never heard before. It’s different, isn’t it?
First time I heard this the word that came to mind was primal! I love The Hu Band🤘🤘🤘❤ Some music you are meant to feel it to understand as much as understand the lyrics. I can see a bunch of military(ie Mongols ) sitting around a fire having a singalong.
It's lyrics come from an old poem which is based on a Golden Horde riding chant. The meaning? 'We are the descendants of Genghis Khan, and we will kick all the ass.'
This group is the Mongolian Heavy Metal boy band. They all have degrees in music and applied to a band being formed by a industry representative. I don't remember if the organizer was a talent agent or a band manager. Heavy metal was the plan from the beginning.
You gotta check out their cover of sad but true by Metallica! The iambic pentameter from English to Mongolian lined up almost perfect. The guitar solos are great..visuals movie quality.
This was their breakout hit. They keep getting better, too, as any profassional entertainer should. They have other songs and they even covered Metallica but they sing in Mongolian. And Metallica LIKED IT! IT's SO GOOD! Lucasfilm picked them up and they are on the soundtrack for that last Jedi video game (Jedi: Fallen Order)! They are just AMAZING! They also have a song that includes Lzzy Hale on the vocals! :)
My fav example of Mongolian throat signing is Bukhu Ganburged signing his song 'Mum and Dad'. He sang it for his audition on The Voice Australia, but he also has a longer version on RUclips. It is exquisite.
Their ancestors were the Mongols who swept across Asia and eastern Europe like a military tsunami under the leadership of Genghis Khan, leaving devastation in their wake. They now live peacefully but their environment and culture still keep them tough and hard. The song is about trading in their horses for motorcycles and the spirit of their ancestors making them the ultimate biker gang.
The call their music ‘Hunnish Rock’ Hunnu Rock", "Hunnu" is being the Mongolian word for the Xiongnu, an ancient civilisation located in the Eurasian steppes. Oh yes, just recently discovered them, and love this! Also discovered your channel because of your reactions to my favorite vocalist, Angelina Jordan. Keep them coming!
You definitely should check out their song....Song of Woman featuring Lizzy Hale from Halestorm. The beginning of The Wolf Totem with the horse riding warrior cameo...then showing the motorcycle riders is symbolic of their past historical heritage as accomplished world conquering horse soldiers vs modern historical reference of a 'warrior' now astride an Ironhorse...or motorcycle.
I just heard the Hu two days ago and I'm amazed I was already knowledgable of Mongolian throat singing. The use of traditional instruments and electric versions of it sounds great and makes me want to conquer the world
One of my employees is Mongolian. He explained a few things to me about The Hu songs. Wolf Totem is actually a warning war chant from the ancient scroll of Mongolia. If someone comes in with bad intentions, they're going to defend their land no matter who you are. Song of Women is not for women. It's more like a reminder to man. The right woman molds you, stands behind you and makes you happy. If you want to keep that woman, family, and land be a man like a well-sharpened sword and arrow in a well-aimed bow. Stay on the right path, follow your elder's word, be brave to defend your loved ones. Don't lose yourself. Lzzy Hale's version is a little bit different. The Legend of Swan is an old folk tale. It's about parents' love for their children.

The Hu have now appeared in many countries including the US. to great acclaim. I've been listening to them for a long time. They're saying if you come, we will fight. It's about defending their territory. Another of their early ones was Yuve Yuve Yu, meaning How sad. Snce the days of the great Chinggis Khan they have been under Chinese or Russian rule, but are now independant, but sad for the great nation they once were.
these guys are amazing. i saw them last september and the energy they bring to the stage is incredible. can't wait to see them again this year! i never knew i needed heavy metal Mongolian throat singing in my life but apparently i really do. they have a version of this song with jacoby shaddix from papa roach that is fantastic and their song Yuve Yuve Yu is my favorite, kinda mongollian heavy metal meets the blues! the instruments are traditional mongolian and the lyrics to much of their music is from mongolian war chants and marching songs from the time of The Great Khan
The song is about their culture. They were a horse culture that employed unique war tactics, exceptional archery equipment and skills, and horses that possessed amazing stamina. In an era of "survival of the fittest," the Mongolians held the largest empire ever held on earth.
Also check out Yuve Yuve Yu, and Sugaan Essena (from Jedi Fallen Order) from them. The Violin is a Mongolian Horse-headed fiddle, the guitar is a Tovshuur (though technically it's a lute).
Love your reactions and so excited to see The HU on hear. Recommend Suggan Essena - from Star Wars Fallen Order game made up language just for game and The Great Chinggis Khaan (Genghis Khan to the rest of the world). Keep up the excellent work!!!!
Few people are aware of the history of the Mongols. An international group of geneticists studying Y-chromosome data have found that nearly 8 percent of the men living in the region of the former Mongol empire carry y-chromosomes that are nearly identical. That translates to 0.5 percent of the male population in the world, or roughly 16 million descendants living TODAY. Khan's empire at the time of his death extended across Asia, from the Pacific Ocean to the Caspian Sea. His military conquests were frequently characterized by the wholesale slaughter of the vanquished. His descendants extended the empire and maintained power in the region for several hundred years, in civilizations in which harems and concubines were the norm. Documents written during or just after Khan's reign say that after a conquest, looting, pillaging, and rape were the spoils of war for all soldiers, but that Khan got first pick of the beautiful women. His grandson, Kubilai Khan, who established the Yuan Dynasty in China, had 22 legitimate sons, and was reported to have added 30 virgins to his harem each year.
Love these guys. For more westernised versions they have sung wolf totem with Jacoby shaddix from band Papa Roach, song of women with lzzy hale from band Halestorm and metallica' s song sad but true. They have travelled the world extensively playing their original music to packed audience's though. Hope it continues after covid settles
This song is basically a "don't waver, be a warrior" type of song, and the lyrics are from an old war chant, the 10, 100, 1000, 10k section is about the units from the old Mongolian Horde military. Their music is all about honoring their country and ancestors. I saw someone say once that Lions, Tigers and Elephants are supposed to be nearby lands (like Russia, India and such) but I don't know how true it is.
The bow instruments played by Galaa and Enkush are morin khuurs (horse head fiddles). These ones are modernise versions of tradition instruments. They have two strings. Traditionally the male string was made from 130 hairs from a stallion tail, the female string was made from 105 hairs from a mare’s tail. The other instrument is a tovshuur (Mongolians). It is also an modernised version. The tovshuur has either two of three strings, in this case Temka’s instrument has three.
Chinggis,. (or Gengis Kahn) was a warlord who in the 13th century who united the Mongols and invaded and captured nearly all of Asia, and a good part of eastern Europe, founding the Mongolian Empire, which was to become, under his grandson, the largest empire in the world. It remains the largest single country in land area to have ever existed on Earth. Chinggis was instrumental in the conquering and managing of the Empire, requiring strict codes of combat and behavior for his warriors. Many Mongolians to this day remain proud of this heritage. More than 8% of humans alive today have DNA traceable to Chinggis (mostly in Northeastern China, Siberia, and Mongolia). He had a lot of wives.
the wolf totem is the staff the rider was holding on horseback it is the symbol mongels use when going to war when other countries used a flag as a banner for troops to rally to. the song comes from a poem of a great mongel general that is the opening lyrics basicly a battle cry before entering into battle it is used here by the Hu as way of saying we wil dominate the world of music as our great khan ghengis nearly conquered all of europe for the mongel come to rule music.
Mongolian war chant I think. As Native Americans will sound the war drums, preceding an attack or invasion. As mention throat singing. They produce AMAZING videos, they are like little movies. Just fantastic visual and audio. Attila the Hun. Genghis Khan
It's a modified version of the war chant of Genghis Khans warriors. Basically meaning if you come at us we'll destroy you. btw why not try Song of women featuring Lzzy Hale.
horse and shamanic things like totems esc can be a symbol for old turkic and mongolian people.... aah i love these band they make me feel like i am on a horse wild running through nowhere in middle asia and i ll conquer world soon xd :D i am turkish our achestors together ruled the world once they were quite harshh but today the people who are running the world are also harshh but they create more rules and make us feel more comfortable or world is more bigger.. Ps. wolf is our soul animal in turkey too btw since you can not leash a wolf it kills itself (that is what is believed. ) and it acts like a pack... it semms as very powerfull and mystic animal... i think also in mongolia wolf is really precious... wolf can live anywhere if it has its pack... like you can find wolfpack in america , in turkey and in mongolia... it survives together... edit 2. never underestimate mongolian throat singing it is really special it is really unique thing and perfect.
Genghis Khan basically (short version) conquered a huge hunk of the world including a lot of Asia and China, Russia, India... it was pretty sweeping. If you like history it's pretty fascinating when you think that he lived from 1162 to 1227 which is before Europe's medieval period.
They are talking about the take over of Chinggis Khan (Genghis Khan) he was the founder and first khagan (ruler) of the Mongol Empire, which became the largest contiguous land empire in history.
Now he gotta listen to my boys Bai Terek, they're from the autonomous Altai region of Russia (I would call it the Altai nation really) and they use similar throat singing techniques. The Altai language is a Turkic language (I can't remember if Mongolian also falls under the Turkic banner, but I'm almost 100% sure that it does), and traditional Altai music does a lot of mimicking of the sounds of nature. Stumbled upon them accidentally one day after they were on the Russian channel BEK and subscribed to them and have been an avid listener since.
Yes, it’s a cultural thing. In the 13th century the Mongolian Empire ruled 3/4 of the continent of Asia. The “Great Khaan Chinggis” they mention most people know as Ghengis Khaan. This song is a Golden Horde War Chant that the HU put to music, the cinematography they blend the old Mongolian Warriors with the Modern Mongolian Warriors.
They are a Mongolian metal band and much inspiration for this band is Metallica..they actually covered Sad but True by Metallica and it's kick a$$ friend! You should definitely check out Metallicas version of Sad but True and then react to The Hu version..its complete 🔥Centuries ago the Mongols were True warriors. They're sandwiched between Russia and China but yet they've been able to hold their own..Mongols are forever warriors! Mad respect
Welcome to the next level of Music you have now reached the feet of Siberia. Head North and visit the group Olox. Then head east and listen to Nyttland and then old Germania (Scandinavia) and get amazed by Heilung. And Eivor and kalandra. You reached your destinatio. When you get to Aurora which you already know.
Yeah, the message is clear - "Don't F with us or we'll F you up bad." :D Medieval Mongol war chant, actually. Around when they conquered Eastern Europe. ;)
Love The Hu and your reaction. Have you listened to any Bloodywood yet? They're and Indian street metal bad and all of their songs have a pretty good message. 🔥
When I saw people from Mongolia and some of the people from Inner Mongolia (which is a province of China) I could help but see similarities with the Maori's and other pacific islanders.
Yes. Lyrics are perhaps confusing to you. But for us Mongols it matches today's political situation. We are divided now by 2 groups, ordinary people and corrupted officials in power.
This is who the Hu (I know, real bad) are singing about: Genghis Khan of the Mongols, en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Genghis_Khan But they're not all blood and guts. Listen to "Song of Women" performed with Lzzy Hale of Halestorm singing "Song of Women" as these men sing about their mothers: ruclips.net/video/mdN1U9NvuIc/видео.html
It's Mongol throat singing, the instruments are native to that region. And we are talking Genghis Khan ancestors man, these men's ancestors once rules nearly the whole world. The Mongols are the greatest warriors of all time in terms of lands conquered.

these guys are amazing. i saw them last september and the energy they bring to the stage is incredible. can't wait to see them again this year! i never knew i needed heavy metal Mongolian throat singing in my life but apparently i really do. they have a version of this song with jacoby shaddix from papa roach that is fantastic and their song Yuve Yuve Yu is my favorite, kinda mongollian heavy metal meets the blues! the instruments are traditional mongolian and the lyrics to much of their music is from mongolian war chants and marching songs from the time of The Great Khan
No sweat bro. You do you. You’re loved. I’m on your schedule. Them others need to settle down.
There is a terrific version with Jacoby Shaddix (Singer from Papa Roach) singing some of it in English. You should check it out in your free time
Recommend yuve yuve yu!!
Sons of Genghis.... prepare for battle!
Love your reactions and so excited to see The HU on hear. Recommend Suggan Essena - from Star Wars Fallen Order game made up language just for game and The Great Chinggis Khaan (Genghis Khan to the rest of the world). Keep up the excellent work!!!!
That was interesting 🤔 I did love the music 🎶 but not sure I understand much more , would be interested in learning more about it
Few people are aware of the history of the Mongols. An international group of geneticists studying Y-chromosome data have found that nearly 8 percent of the men living in the region of the
former Mongol empire carry y-chromosomes that are nearly identical. That
translates to 0.5 percent of the male population in the world, or
roughly 16 million descendants living TODAY. Khan's empire at the time of his death extended across Asia, from the Pacific Ocean to the Caspian Sea. His military conquests were frequently
characterized by the wholesale slaughter of the vanquished. His
descendants extended the empire and maintained power in the region for
several hundred years, in civilizations in which harems and concubines
were the norm. Documents written during or just after Khan's reign say that after a
conquest, looting, pillaging, and rape were the spoils of war for all
soldiers, but that Khan got first pick of the beautiful women. His
grandson, Kubilai Khan, who established the Yuan Dynasty in China, had
22 legitimate sons, and was reported to have added 30 virgins to his
harem each year.
This is pretty much the message of fuck around and find out
The song is basically a war chant saying we mind our own business don't f with us or we will kick your ass.
Yes like everywhere says that’s Mongolian throat singing
and most of these guys are trained at the University in Mongolia
Classical trained musicians
They are saying, "Don't fuck with us". It is a warning to those who would dare.
the wolf totem is the staff the rider was holding on horseback it is the symbol mongels use when going to war when other countries used a flag as a banner for troops to rally to. the song comes from a poem of a great mongel general that is the opening lyrics basicly a battle cry before entering into battle it is used here by the Hu as way of saying we wil dominate the world of music as our great khan ghengis nearly conquered all of europe for the mongel come to rule music.
They are recanting past battles.
A tribal Battle song...they were fierce warriors .Kahn , Mongolian warriors
It basically a war chant a bit like the Haka
And that dude Chinggis Khan is the same guy we in the West call "Genghis".
Yeah, the message is clear - "Don't F with us or we'll F you up bad." :D Medieval Mongol war chant, actually. Around when they conquered Eastern Europe. ;)
bout time :P
I’m so glad you seemed to get into this… mind expanded lol
Love The Hu and your reaction. Have you listened to any Bloodywood yet? They're and Indian street metal bad and all of their songs have a pretty good message. 🔥
The song is cultural. They're referencing the mongol empire and Chinggis Khan or "genghis"
they're obviously talking about Halo. "If you come as flood we'll fight to the death"
13th century war chant
15th century
Great khan means genghis khan....the greatest emperor
nice
When I saw people from Mongolia and some of the people from Inner Mongolia (which is a province of China) I could help but see similarities with the Maori's and other pacific islanders.
The song has captions, give it another listen with the English captions!
And you found the captions 😆
HU is the root word for Human in mongolian. The genre is HUNNU ROCK. WELCOME TO THE AGE OF HUMAN ROCK!
Mongolia 👍🙏🏼
Yes. Lyrics are perhaps confusing to you. But for us Mongols it matches today's political situation. We are divided now by 2 groups, ordinary people and corrupted officials in power.
Its a mongolian battle cry used since th Huns and Gengis Khan.
Basically a Mongolian war chant
This is who the Hu (I know, real bad) are singing about: Genghis Khan of the Mongols, en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Genghis_Khan
But they're not all blood and guts. Listen to "Song of Women" performed with Lzzy Hale of Halestorm singing "Song of Women" as these men sing about their mothers: ruclips.net/video/mdN1U9NvuIc/видео.html
I clicked on this video so fast.
Red hot chilli peppers
The descendants of Genghis Khan.
