Democratic change has been demanded across the Middle East. But was what seems like a spontaneous revolution actually a strategically planned event, fabricated by 'revolution consultants' long in advance?

Revolution consultants are the worst nightmare of every regime. Srdja Popovic was a founder of the organisation 'Otpor', a revolution training school. It was instrumental in the overthrow of Slobodan Milosevic in the 1990s and has now inspired a new generation of activists. Political commentators like William Engdahl are convinced Otpor is being financed by the USA. "The people from Otpor gave us a book in which they described all their strategies", says Ezzedine Zaatour of the Tunisian uprising. That book was written by an American, Gene Sharp, and is now considered the "revolution guide book", being used by opposition movements worldwide. As Optor release their latest gadget, a resistance training computer game sponsored by American organisations, world leaders are voicing their concerns. "This is called a gentle coup!", insists Hugo Chavez.

This video (just like Putin) is arguing that there can't possibly be free, spontaneous uprisings from fed-up citizens in a dictatorship in reaction to the regime's policies. It's just impossible, it's always the U.S. behind it all - because people just like to be supressed, they hate freedom of speech, movement and press, they enjoy their corrupt and viciously brutal leaders. Of course the Soviet Union also fell because of ... the CIA I guess, not because of the system. (sarcasm off).

More Recent examples: Venezuela, Hong Kong, Ukraine, Iran, Libya, Syria. It's the new way to coup governments "legitimately" without using the military. Just orchestrate and manipulate a new movement for "democracy" into existence (doesn't need to be any more specific than this), pull on people's heart strings to get them to support the movement, declare the government a "dictatorship", slap sanctions and economically destroy the target nation while blaming it on the government until the people believe the lie and overthrow them either through elections or uprising. If elections don't end up in the imperialists' favor, just cry out "illegitimate", "rigged", "fraud" loud enough non-stop until this becomes the new truth and more people join the "resistance". This is how the US and western nations operate.

Excellent video!!! I live in Venezuela. Leopoldo Lopez and Corina Mechado are both associated with groups associated with the National Endowment for Democracy. Both were involved in what happened in 2002, 2004 and 2014. For the 2004 they used a symbol similar to Otpor! Now they just wear white. I would just like to add, The Problem is not that you can recruit a critical mass of like minded people but is more so the question of whoever else shows up at your protest... In Venezuela, it is the ¨guarimberos¨ who barricade off streets, burn tires, pull the national guard in and then start insulting them and then throwing rocks and molotov coctails before the national guard returns fire with tear gas then rubber bullets. That is the game being played in Venezuela. Furthermore ¨collectivos¨ (pro Bolivarian Revolution socialist vigilante groups. Look up ¨Tupamaros¨) can also do the dirty work that the national guard will not do and go in armed, the guarimberos will run like cockroaches after a couple shots are fired and then they tear down the barricade and speed off on their motorcycles before the cops and national guard restore order (before the next of this same game played over and over again in the same opposition neighborhoods). The Serb geek`s video game is stupid and is only reflective of how the US State Department and CIA see the world is a blank slate which they can create in their own image. Furthermore, Leopoldo Lopez and Corina Mechado obviously want to play on the expert level of this game by choosing to go for ¨La Salida¨ (¨the exit¨...Ukrainian/Arab Spring style regime change ousting President Maduro). Nevertheless, they do not have a coup up their sleeve, nor do they have right wing paramilitaries, extremists, neoNazis and football hooligans manning massive barricades ready to go medieval on the riot police and to literally topple a government. I dont think the US State Department planned for that contingency. Otpor should have done so. Croatia literally supported the Nazis in WWII and neoNazi militia from all over Europe aided Croatia against Serbia. Hell, to think that right wing elements who can fight way better than hippis are another way to ¨People Power¨...People Power II should come out soon with a post Ukraine/Venezuela revision including ¨guarimberos¨ and The Right Sector and Svaboda.

When it comes to overtake billions worth of people-owned industries and businesses, you can subsume that anything is done highly professional.
      They also use different groups-
      1. OTPOR seems to be more specialized to nice, young, unexperienced and easy to convince with stylish, fashionable heroic revolution stuff (and some money, interesting posts etc.) - they are the nice and peaceful "democracy lovers", "freedom fighters";
but 2. for the dirty work they take fascists or even just payed killers in order to create chaos by burning, destruction, breaking into media and parliament buildings or smashing police - those are militarily drilled,
the third group is the new "democratic" government, mostly one of those sleeper government USA holds ready for any country on their occupation list.
A fourth group are media attractive items like Pussy riots (just think at the world-wide similar professional color-concept of Pussy riots! PR-compaines do create such "sympathic things" ) . Same with Femen, with their bare breasts which can be brought easily into any newspaper or TV-station, because of their sexy women.
As in Libya or Syria, they even need no large demonstrations, since Gaddafi long time ago was shown as idiotic dictator (despite being retired since 1977 and having no post in government) , they organize small flash-mops of 5 minutes and just sent their NATO-reporters the same time to this place. "20 loud impressive protesters" and some 50 watching around and impressive close-up shots are enough for NATO-TV screens to show a big dramatic "uprise". Gaddafi spoke of "no demonstrations at all". The only huge demonstrations were Pro-Gaddiaf/Anti-NATO-demonstrations. In Syria they delivered pictures of "great demonstrations" by showing a few posters in the crowd of ordinary people that just went out from a church. That is news management. Be sure that there are theater dramaturgists who provide ongoing new steps as required by the development on the ground or in worldwide press and the political /militarily aims.
Also on the economic level and within the police and other government institutions groups will be created as agents so that finally at any important front the US agents can deliver information or revolution or just the well timed news they want to have to bring things forward.

I found this presentation to be weak. No one from the Left was interviewed. Knowledgeable people could have added enormously to the presentation. I am left wondering whether the authors are with the people or the CIA. The angle seemed to be that fomenting revolution as a business can be 'handled' (not denied) so that it's not negative. By extension, the color revolutions and hybrid warfare (that invariably sidelines, not frees) the people that we've seen are not in themselves bad. That the lawless US is busy doing regime change wherever it wants is not a good thing.

Three things strike me about this video. The book written by Sharp is about peaceful non-compliance, it is feared by Putin as it challenges his ambition to rebuild the USSR. Regardless of US funding or economic interest, the people must be disenchanted with authoritarianism for it to be effective; so influence cannot be exerted from dollars, they can only aid the desire for freedom. The younger generation are becoming more interested in video games than reading so it is an astute way to engage them. It is impossible for an outside agency to initiate it. The paradox is that democratic countries are giving agencies like the police more power to invade personal privacy without need, cause ot explanation, making them more authoritarian than ever before.

Unfortunate that also cause wars, only in Serbia due to specific regime there were no bloodbath. In other parts of the world there were wars, OK and in the US there wasn't war when antifa etc did the same color revolution thing. If you see the guy's teeth at 10:49, you will realize that revolution was necessary. you do not need all of this planning. Plus, it is not that some people planned it. the question is : 1- was there repression, corruption, injustice, hunger, inequality...etc?
2- was the above enough to start a mass movement to topple the government?
3- if the answer to the above is yes, then it is not important who planned it except when the following question is answered: Why didn't those "planners" help other countries who badly needed a revolution? in other words, it is those who were left alone to fend for themselves that would have the real grievance against those who claim that they would help anybody who is oppressed. but that they helped some of the oppressed is not in itself to be taken against them.

NATO media did proclaim such lies - also within Yugoslavia - there would be a repression (because of reactions to obvious lies from those NATO-financed newspapers and Radio/TV-stations.
Same with corruption, injustice, hunger etc. It was the west with his IMF /worldbank who had created hunger, jobless people, privatisations (=inequality). As they do everywhere and anywhere. They did lay the ground of conflicts they (NATO) did lead to separation and a civil war -ending with a NATO attack. Intentionally of course - just using the desparate situation when USA with its agent alcoholist Jelzin, smashed the COMECON-the eastern block economic system. Suddenly no money to pay for Russian spareparts or needed products. They became dependend of IMF/Worldbank and Milosevic had to accept - against his will - the typical dictate of IMF: Privatization, huge worker drop-outs, social security down, prices up, etc. etc.

Plus, the question is are we talking about revolutions that succeeded or failed? for those that failed, the result is definitely worse for obvious reason. In fact, even successful revolutions when they are not gradual like the industrial revolution, are invariably worse off in the short-run (tens of years), given that revolutions are violent cataclysmic events that want to uproot a system that may have provided some benefits. They start off from the bottom and accumulate over the years many enemies that were beneficiaries of the "regime ancient" and simple people who did not see the result immediately or could not afford to wait. When slaves rebelled, They ended up invariably worse than before. But the ultimate result, sometimes after tens of years of suffering is always better or rather the only way forward.

Also, the MAJOR problem with these revolutions is that the puppet government installed afterwards is ALWAYS worse that the outed government. The revolutions is design to bring along a government that's aligned with the US, so the US can steal the resources.
