    At that age and having not really ever lifted it is possible. Once you have lifted and your body fills out then its impossible to add that kind of size and strength naturally. As we have seen this is his first ever real stint in the gym. I believe he's natural at this point. He's a freak.
    Personally after my high school wrestling career was over I put on over 30lbs of muscle in 1 year. I didn't use drugs to do it I didn't even use supplements. Just lifted like an animal and slept all the time. IT CAN BE DONE AND HAS BEEN DONE MANY, MANY, TIMES BY MANY, MANY, ATHLETES.

    I wouldn't do a bodybuilding workout for a grappling sport. You need to be dynamic and explosive. Not large and slow

      @Bernie R. when do you ever see any type of fighter from any contact sport do mass building exercises?. The aim is to be strong, dynamic and flexible. Body building only gives you one of those.

    I completed in wrestling and judo never competing heavier than 145 at 5'4 until my early 40's. At 48 I am a lean 180. I get caught more than I used to by the younger competitors. I am the old guy with grey hair the young players don't want to rotate to. They show me a lot of respect! I enjoy coaching more than I ever did with a medal hanging around my neck! The new guys are taking the sport to another level as did I said the generation before me. I love this game!!!

    Hard to pack that much muscle naturally in such a short time especially when you do a lot of cardio like jiu jitsu training.Guys who bulk do very little cardio.But i'm sure it's all natural.

    I don't know/care if this guy did steriods. But a thought for people who think quick muscle gains are impossible: I'm 5'7 and was 125lbs skin and bones (and at the time around 25). I bulked/did BB style training big time for a few months and ultimately put on about 40lbs, probably around 20lbs of that I'm guessing was muscle. I also want to emphasize that I'm NOT an athletic human being and have probably average at best genetics, if not a little less than average.
    In general quick muscle gains for skinny newbies is not terribly hard or impressive. Barry Bonds magically putting on a lot of lean mass late in his career isn't natural. Overeem transforming into a monster after already being jacked is not natural, etc. etc.

    Strength is an intrinsic advantage. It is always there, technique or no technique. To ignore it as a fighter is madness.
    Also, lol @ all the steroid comments. Is this becoming a meme?

    • @JI77469
      @JI77469 4 года назад

      Indeed. As most people agree though, diminishing returns hits fairly quickly though with regards to BJJ applicability (bridging being an exception, as that's just brute strength and little technique). That being said, It's not hard at all to build a baseline of strength (ala "starting strength" or something like that) and that foundation goes a LONG way.
