It's weird looking, but I like the blue paint. I said that back in 2011 when I bought a Voodoo Blue Scion xB. I would consider this as a replacement of I could find one with a manual. Hope it would be as reliable as the old car...nothing ever broke.
I had a 95 Corolla, it was a good car, and thank goodness back then cars had real bumpers, because a rear ended a Mercury Sable, which did no damage to it, and very little to my Corolla. Last year we bought my wife a new 2017 Camry, minus a real front bumper.
I’m currently renting a 2020 Corolla sedan and I’m quite impressed with the power. It handles well too. For me no need to get the civic turbo. I don’t know if Honda has fixed their 1.5T issues yet.
Lmao my 1995 corolla wagon with a 5 speed gets 1 mpg better on the highway AND it probably has more cargo room AND parts are cheap AND there’s no payment AND I can fix it myself AND runs like new. She’s a Canadian car with 314,000 kilometers (or 195,000 miles) and counting. That little thing is a tank.. Best $900 I’ve spent. Either way though, new or old, Toyota makes a fantastic product. Love the videos too.
Prick owens Well since it’s an old car they tend to have lighter metal which newer cars are built heavier and more durable. I think this new corolla would do better in a collision.
GoogleMinus The guy I picked up from had picked it up from Georgia, I’m from Illinois. Just keep it clean and don’t drive much in the winter, it should last a little while at least.
The wipers are designed that way so while driving, the wind helps keep the blade planted on the windshield. A spoiler looking design doesn’t help it make it more slippery.
Toyota has really stepped up their game with features and especially styling all across their model line up. Their design department really needs a raise. This Corolla looks stunning and is light years away from its simple economy car roots of yesteryear. Although I do not have a Corolla I just got a 2019 Toyota C-HR and LOVE IT! The little attention to details that were mentioned in this video are on point. Too bad the C-HR did not get this Corolla engine but I see what Toyota was trying to do in getting their cars to that ever important 30+ combined MPG. With the Corolla and its more aerodynamic design, it could reach 30+ MPG with a more powerful engine but for the C-HR to reach that, they had to cut back on some horses. No matter because the car is still pretty peppy and I will be adding some TRD performance parts to my C-HR soon. You get all this combined with that legendary Toyota quality! It a win, win in my book.
Kinda wish they had a model one notch higher than the XSE, with the same naturally aspirated engine but with upgraded internals and tuned to 200 HP. a 200 HP N/A inline 4 from Toyota would be amazing, I'm sure they could get that amount of horsepower with no turbo.
It comes down to cost...not ideal to some drivers but it’s a business. Cheaper to mould the dash that you tack on the display than integrate it. Besides, a lot more manufacturers doing it so simply - get on with the times! If you don’t like it then buy a diff brand/model.
Just a thought. If you are going to talk about rev matching with anti-stalling, perhaps you could offer audio of that, instead of elevator music. I know, for that you may need to employ a sound operator and have to mix the audio, but you might end up with a production of higher value.
Driven the more fun Mazda 3 and as good as that was in this segment it feels good having a Corolla as it is easy to clean. Reliable, long lasting and best selling car ever is a great title
Good luck finding one, though. Dealerships have the ugly colors in the basic package. I wanted the special blizzard pearl XSE, and I could only find one in all of New England. But, it is now in my driveway. This is probably the best car I've ever driven! Fun and gorgeous and the compliments keep coming for the car, not me. :)
Corolla 2008 got 30 mi/gal in Bangkok, sometime completely stop for 30 minute in front of traffic light., this car is very good on idle , I'm guarantee.
Love your videos. Any chance of putting a front wheel drive car like the Toyota on a single roller and seeing if it can pull itself off. 2 wheel drive with good snow tires is all 90% of people need. It was good enough for our grandparents. I guess they knew how to drive.
If automakers brought back the hele-shaw type clutch the manual transmission would greatly improve in popularity. Computer assisted anti stall will also help. The hele-shaw clutch is a viscosity clutch rather than a friction clutch, so its got vastly greater wear-life. And that’s why they stopped selling them, but as it will save them on warrantee costs, it make sense to bring it back. And the much more linear engagement will be more attractive to motorists, and help simplify anti stall algorithms.
I wonder if the electronic emergency brake has anything to do with lawsuits. You took your seatbelt off and got out of the car so it auto EEB to prevent rolling and damage and anything someone would want to blame the car on.
It's great that they give you the option of a manual. I predict very, very few people will want it though. (myself included, I love a manual but on the amazing roads of Mid Wales, not the LA 405 at 6:30pm)
At 8:40 it says that it's only got 351 miles of range left, with a full tank! How small is the fuel tank? Edit: found out it's 13.2 gal. or 50 liters, which is pretty standard I guess. Would love to have a larger tank though.
In Toyota we Trust! The Corolla is one tough grocery cart but we always get the Matrix at work because of the versatility of the hatch. This new HB looks promising.

Have seen one on the road. will replace my first gen Mazda3 hatch with this. Do not like the looks of the 19 Mazda3 hatch the c pillars are bizarre!
The new Mazda3 body style reminds of those Porsche 944's from the 80's with the rounded rear end.
@@JulezWinnfield The 3 sedan looks better in pictures, however I'm hooked on hatches and the GTI and R are totally unreliable. I used to love the 944 back in the day another unreliable VW product! IMO
If this corolla handles and is as quick as your 3 then that's a good move
@@alpha7ization This one 7.5s, same as current Mazda3. Can't wait to see what SkyactiveX will do to MPGs
@@JEFFSMITH95
I wasn't comparing a Mazda vs a Porsche in terms of mechanical reliability. I was comparing the similarly shared rounded side and rear end, at least in my opinion.
I want to thank you guys so much for giving a SERIOUS review on the Toyota Corolla. I thought this video was going to be filled with lots of sarcasm, joking and you weren't being serious at all, but I was wrong.
SO happy there is NO SUNROOF to leak, rattle and fail and without it makes the car rigid:)
It's weird looking, but I like the blue paint.
I said that back in 2011 when I bought a Voodoo Blue Scion xB.
I would consider this as a replacement of I could find one with a manual.
Hope it would be as reliable as the old car...nothing ever broke.
Tommy and Michael. Great review!
That rear spoiler looks awesome! If Toy added a Turbo and All-Wheel I'd lease one tomorrow!
The thing with the electronic parking break is kind of standard in Europe. Works across many brands the same way.
I really liked this car...
...until he mentioned Alexa :/
I wonder if you can disconnect that option?
I really miss Nathan (I know he's around) but these young boys are awesome... Keep doing what u do cause you're doing it the best way.
It looks like present day Prius styling which isn't bad!
Toyota rules!
i dont know at 25k a gti would put hurt on this car
Dream Cars if they rule why does it only get 25mpg?
Probably, this is done in order to sell the Toyota Prius.
Vault 614 are you sure it that number
Jeff K lol but how long would that last
So i guess burnouts are out of the question with the e parking brake
Lmao my 1995 corolla wagon with a 5 speed gets 1 mpg better on the highway AND it probably has more cargo room AND parts are cheap AND there’s no payment AND I can fix it myself AND runs like new. She’s a Canadian car with 314,000 kilometers (or 195,000 miles) and counting. That little thing is a tank.. Best $900 I’ve spent. Either way though, new or old, Toyota makes a fantastic product. Love the videos too.
That hasn't rusted out yet?
This probably weighs much more and wont kill you in a crash
Alec Matteson Well you don’t have smart technology inside that’s why I don’t like old cars
Great informative video, much appreciated great work
The wipers are designed that way so while driving, the wind helps keep the blade planted on the windshield. A spoiler looking design doesn’t help it make it more slippery.
Toyota Corolla can't die, they always continually to improve that's why they're only manufacturer proven to sell over 40 million vehicles.
That stuck on screen is really bad looking other car manufacturers do it to and I hate it. Wish they’d go back integrating them in to the dash
Eduardo the raised screen is to help keep the driver’s eyes from looking down at the dash, and away from the road.
It looks cheap or cheesy
@@demariushenderson1802 right...... that's what the reason was for.
Even Mercedes in some of his cars does it like that
It comes down to cost...not ideal to some drivers but it’s a business. Cheaper to mould the dash that you tack on the display than integrate it. Besides, a lot more manufacturers doing it so simply - get on with the times! If you don’t like it then buy a diff brand/model.
Reminds me so much of my old 2006 Matrix that I finally sold after 14 good reliable years!
Take off that front lisense place and it will look alot better. Not to mention provide more cooling to the engine.
Big no-no in states that use dual plates, especially California, Colorado and Texas.
I got this car last Saturday se very satisfied
I love the styling and the Miami Blue color
(That color is ALWAYS Miami Blue, not "Blue Flame")
I owned a 1984 SR5 got about 275k miles. Still running fine when I traded it in.
That car looks so good
Just a thought. If you are going to talk about rev matching with anti-stalling, perhaps you could offer audio of that, instead of elevator music. I know, for that you may need to employ a sound operator and have to mix the audio, but you might end up with a production of higher value.
In a 2 months I’m about to get one of these with the 6 speed, I’m pretty excited
Driven the more fun Mazda 3 and as good as that was in this segment it feels good having a Corolla as it is easy to clean. Reliable, long lasting and best selling car ever is a great title
Good video. The little features is what makes it. The E parking brake and anti stall are well thought out
It looks great, will go check one out. Thank You 🙏
Good luck finding one, though. Dealerships have the ugly colors in the basic package. I wanted the special blizzard pearl XSE, and I could only find one in all of New England. But, it is now in my driveway. This is probably the best car I've ever driven! Fun and gorgeous and the compliments keep coming for the car, not me. :)
@@Lex-Rex The white seating is perfect. This hatch has Lexus quality! I lease for $289/mo.
That stick shift alone has sold me on the car. Extremely good value consider the crap cars sold in the 90’s
For that sized car, that engine makes plenty of power.
Awesome video great explanation thank you
When he told that thing about the wheels I could feel my blood pressure rise from sheer OCD.
I see 30 year old corollas being used as taxis in Jamaica all the time. They are solid cars
I wish the hatch glass popped like the Matrix.
I love that feature on my matrix
If automakers brought back the hele-shaw type clutch the manual transmission would greatly improve in popularity. Computer assisted anti stall will also help.
The hele-shaw clutch is a viscosity clutch rather than a friction clutch, so its got vastly greater wear-life. And that’s why they stopped selling them, but as it will save them on warrantee costs, it make sense to bring it back. And the much more linear engagement will be more attractive to motorists, and help simplify anti stall algorithms.
They need to make a 2-door corolla
Toyota's crazy. Soon enough they are going to market the prius as being a "hot hatch".
Teddy's Lift World dont you like that they now finally go back to sporty like in 90's after their heads got hit by Honda and friends
I'm guessing you haven't seen Tyler Hoover's Prius
This is a bitch car no doubt.
@@philtrumble Hoovie knows its a hot hatch... extremely hot..... hot garbage : )
if they put it under the Sun in the summer for 4 hours, pretty sure it is a hot hatch!!!
I wonder if the electronic emergency brake has anything to do with lawsuits. You took your seatbelt off and got out of the car so it auto EEB to prevent rolling and damage and anything someone would want to blame the car on.
How is Toyota going to make a sporty looking hatch and not give it any performance options??
I like this Car. I hope TAM will bring it to Indonesia soon.
I'm a few years late to the party but I just ordered my 2022 xse with nothing other than the rear spoiler, the total cost came out to about 30k
Stall attempt was cool. Those who can use both foot and hand, who like to dance, have nothing to fear.
You missed the fact that a gallon of milk fits in the side cubby holes in the trunk. Pretty slick design
Yes the 1 touch window switch should be standard.
25 grand?! That is a compact, might as well pick up a 2 year old one for closer to 12
It’s two years later even the se trim on the 2019 hatch has a trade in value of 17+
My sister just bought one of these and lemme say, this car is the best of the best.
I miss when corolla's were 15K new
Guys did a nice job on this vid
I just bought mine. A silver Xse 6-speed for 23,000
I absolutely love it
No one believes me when I tell them it’s a corolla
In Toyota we Trust! The Corolla is one tough grocery cart but we always get the Matrix at work because of the versatility of the hatch. This new HB looks promising.
