    Got a silver Hatchback SE three weeks ago. Great car.
    16" tires increase fuel efficiency about 3 MPG over 18" wheels.
    Car corners just fine. Ride quality fantastic.
    Rear visibility is awful. If I had it to do all over again I'd have gotten the Preferred Package with blind spot monitor. (Test drive didn't involve unusual merge to the right like the one near my house I have to use daily)
    Over all I love the car. Love the tech. It has a solid, stable feel. Very safe on the highway. Hoping there's an after market BSM that won't void warranty.

    Been eye balling a Corolla hatchback with the intelligent manual for a daily driver.
    In my opinion the SE is the way to go. The options are all the same except for cosmetics. The XSE gets big wheels and a bigger spoiler. At the end of the day the XSE will have more expensive tires that are prone to damage. And a spoiler with more weight to stress the bodywork of the hatch.(Not as extreme as Civic R but still not something I find appealing)
    I really just wish the Corolla hatchback had the hatch space of the Matrix/iM

    Wish the top spec came in manual in Australia. I would zonk the rear seat and boot room though, it is a tad small compared to competitors. I think the new batch of cars coming late this year will also come with Android Auto and Apple Car Play as well which fixes another zonk.

  • @subvet3668
    @subvet3668 5 лет назад

    Great review. I especially appreciate the look at rear seat leg room.i really think Toyota’s numbers of 29.9 seem way off because every review I see appears larger than that. At the very least comparable to the Mazda 3 though by the numbers it shouldn’t be.

    Damn, you should have tested the 6 manual! They're kinda fun with that set up. I wouldn't even wanna mess with the CVT. They really missed the ball on this with the great styling and lack of power. I'm sure there is plenty of people out there that would pay $5k more for a high out put or turbo on these. I mean they're already cheap enough as is. Cause this car screams sporty! Oh well, great first car for a teen or a college student. I'm guessing that was the demographic they were aiming for.

    • @heithwatkins
      @heithwatkins 5 лет назад +4

      I actually like that it's normally aspirated. I would be using it for daily driving and putting high miles on it. I will buy the manual shift. I believe it will hold up better than a turbo.

    • @_dmfd
      @_dmfd 5 лет назад +2

      @@heithwatkins I agree that it will hold up better than a turbo. Just with the loud exterior styling it puts off a more hot hatch vibe. I like the linear power band of a naturally aspirated motor, I just would only get this in a manual cause paired with a cvt, you know that thing is not gonna have very good pick up. I feel they were trying to do what Mazda is also doing with this years 3 series, and just go for nice interior and safety specs.

    I like what they did with this car...looks good, feels comfortable, maintains affordability despite packing in plenty of tech, offers us manual lovers the option of rowing our own gears, and has a solid warranty. The engine is a bit anemic, but it will probably outlast just about everything on the road. I don't think you can go wrong here if you are looking for this type of vehicle. Operating costs should be super low and insurance costs should be extremely reasonable.
    A high-performance version of this to compete with the Veloster N would be awesome, especially since there currently isn't anything else at the N's price-point delivering anywhere near the performance, and competition is a good thing.

    Glad they put a real first gear in that CVT. Off the line performance is really deplorable on CVT's. Having that real first gear probably helps that problem. Sounds like a much better CVT solution then the ones used in Nissans. I had a 2012 Nissan sentra SL with full leather and sunroof for less money then this. Just shows how expensive cars are getting. I've driven CVT's with those simulated gears which just make matters worse. All I can say is just no. If your going to go CVT just make it continuously variable and quit trying to make it something its not. If you want to simulate gears then its time to put a real transmission in there. in a compact, I can see using a CVT because it just a econo box for daily driving and MPG's. But its nice they still offer a MT. That's getting harder to find as time goes by.

    I had a Toyota Corolla SE 2015 with the TRD package, manual transmission, and it was a fun car to drive and great during the day. BUT unfortunately at night the lights were terrible IF you live somewhere that has hills. The whole windshield would go dark because of the position of the lights when going downhill. Yes I tried to adjust the lights, or change them from LED. Also took to the dealer and they saw what was happening and they did absolutely nothing. So, would I get another Toyota. NOPE. Bought a Subaru STi and traded that stupid Toyota in. Lol
