    Typically I never paid attention to the Corolla but this one is nice! Pretty good value from Toyota. It’s awesome they offer a manual option too, but still super efficient with the CVT. Keep up the good work Forrest!

    Forrest, one thing you could compare or review which others don’t, is durability and long term reliability. I’m kind of afraid to think about all the electronics just in opening the door, in say, seven years, or that intricate interior. Makes me think a ten year old car is simpler and could actually be a better choice. Really nice review regardless.

    I am really liking this car! Impressive styling and efficiency combo. I was really impressed with your wholesale shopping trip and how you packed everything in there! Loved the lighting at night on the car, and the shape of the AC vents and the dash looks really cool. I believe this car is almost the same as the new Lexus UX so maybe on that version they took care of the road noise problem. Can’t wait to see the Audi Etron reveal! 👍🏼👍🏼

      Admiral There is a difference between reveal and coming out, which refers to market availability. A reveal can whenever they want it to, but production and launch is more concrete. Spring/Mid 2019 is accurate, with late November 2018 reveal.

    Excellent review, Forrest! The new 2019 Corolla Hatchback seems like quite the improvement over the previous generation iM.
    If I had the money, this would totally be my first pick in the compact hatchback segment. The looks are incredible, the available features are quite impressive, and the reliability is expected to be superb.
    The only aspects that I wish Toyota would improve on will probably be the cargo area and rear seat space.
    All in all, though, the Corolla seems like a great buy in its segment! Keep up the great work, Forrest!

    Nice review! You always have great commentary and I love to hear what you say! Just wondering if you have the Lane Trace Assist with the Radar Cruise Control on, is it somewhat like auto-pilot on a Model 3 where you kind of have the car steering and controlling the gas pedal for you under conditions that allow it like on the highway? Of course not fully getting you from Point A to Point B but in short spurts here and there with those systems on? Thanks!

    • @codmott286
      @codmott286 4 года назад

      I believe the car will drift from side to side within its lane if you tried this. However you can buy something called the Comma AI (open pilot) that will take control of this behavior and make the car hold perfectly center, basically a poor man's tesla autopilot!

    This the 2nd review of this Car and both of the reviewer’s have mentioned Road noise. I’ve noticed this is Texas and the other review was from California. Something is up with that, in my opinion, it’s the Tires. I’m on my 4th set of tires on a 2014 Fiesta ST with only 59,000 miles on it. I just put a set of Michelin pilot sport A/S 3+ and just did a 2,000 mile trip to Oregon and there the best tires I have ever had. Fantastic grip, very quiet, and no freeway groove tracking, I highly recommend these tires.

    If you want the best Hot Hatch for under 25,000 you can still get the Ford Fiesta ST that is Turbo charged 197 hp & 202 foot pounds of torque, and will literally Blow the doors off that Corolla, they only come in a 6 speed and it’s 300 pounds lighter than the Corolla, plus it handles like a go kart. 26 city 35 highway. Also missed the very important, fuel injection system it uses (duel port/direct. I notice the road noise too, it's partly there because fwd always transmitt more noise over RWD, and so much is dependent on the road surface type.

    You got the big 18" wheels, that leaves little tyre to absorb road noise. The 16" would be quieter :)
    It probably also doesn't have as much sound deadening, being a Corolla, they probably want you to upgrade to a more expensive car...
    The simulshifts are a good idea though.

    Nice looking yes. I test drove one last week. Not enough leg room. I am 6'1 170 lbs. I sit too low for my comfort and not room for thigh support due to leg length. It was slow and i didnt like it on the highway. Good city car for shorter people.

      Stauriko the distance from my knees to my waist had little distance for width and length. If they had electric seats then i would be able to tilt seat upwards to relieve the stress on my legs. I prefer electric seats for that reason. Not sure if this car offers electric seats. If so i would give a higher recommendation but not for highway distance.

      I got an Toyota Auris Hybrid 2014 (that's what you guys call an Corolla Hatchback) and I'm 6'3" myself. I bought this car especially due to it's abundant leg room! Even if one were 6'6" you'd fit perfectly fine in my car with room to spare! Especially thigh room as it's a really wide seat. I have yet to try out the new 2019 model, but from what you tell us it seems that it's interior-space...shrunk???

      +Tom Boyle You do release that manual seats can also be adjusted, right? They can tilt forwards, backwards, move upwards and move down...I assume you don't know how to adjust the seat position...Electric seats are the same as manual except for it using buttons instead of levers to adjust your seating position...I don't care at all if it is a manual seat or electric...

    A little warning for any new hatchback owners. It is almost deceptive how much they can hold. I caused rear springs to compress too much on hatchbacks I owned (and own), leading to squatting. On my current car, I swapped the rear springs to stronger ones (King Springs), to solve that issue. I really should be buying a pickup truck.... Now, if some company would just make a small pickup (less than 200" long)....

      catsspat a hatchback is obviously not going to handle as much as a truck. They were not deceptive. You just assumed a hatchback can withstand weight like a truck.

    Some questions about the drivetrain: Do the fake shifts lurch only in Manual and/or Sport mode? If you're in standard D, do you get the typical clean acceleration of a CVT? I haven't been able to find out if the 10 preset ratios always apply or if they're just in the more "engaging" modes. If they are in standard D, do you "feel" them? Call me crazy, but I couldn't care less if the engine drones, I prefer smooth acceleration over fake shifts...

    I was rather close to buying this corolla hatch! The main thing that made me say no was the lack of space, and not the best handling of the list of compact hatches. I wished there was more rear seat and hatch space. So I had to go for civic hatch. Also considered mazda3, however space was a concern too.

      Tech Defender Is there more rear leg room than the 2005 Corolla sedan ? How tight would you say it is ?

    • @A_guan
      @A_guan 5 лет назад

      @@brandongant618 since it's a hatchback I can't really say for sure (I'd say similar). However if you compare it against the 2019 sedan then it's a definite yes. I'm 5 foot 8 and had around 2 inches of leg room, but since it's a hatchback it's tighter inside then a sedan. The best thing you can do is go check it out for yourself.

      T.D. Everyone has the same issues with the cramped rear seat and deficient cargo hold. Amazingly Toyota just solved those exact problems with the Corolla wagon they preview in Paris in October.

    I personally think the corolla is a great car. The only reason I would ONLY buy a Tacoma or 4Runner from Toyota is because any other Toyota car (especially the Corolla, Camry and RAV4) will depreciate in value fairly quickly, especially if you put a lot of miles on your car (I drive 30k+ miles a year). The only reason I would buy one of these cars is for my kids and family who don’t drive as much. And even then, I would buy it cash, I would never finance one of these cars because if you do, get ready to be upside down on your loan for a very long time (unless you have 60-75% of the loan cash to put down). Don’t get me wrong, these vehicles work great and this car in particular looks awesome! They are super reliable but the resale value sucks and because of this I’m not sure if it’s worth investing 25k for something you will only be able to resale for about 10-13k in the near future.

    One thing I don't like about the 2019-2020 Toyota Corolla is the engine is both Dual Port, and Direct Fuel Injection which is gonna cause even more bigger problems when it comes to carbon build up. The older models were equipped with naturally aspirated four cylinder engines.

    Nice car but my engine blew up at 2200 miles. The engine got a metallic ticking coming from the #4 cylinder. Have had 3 people contact me with hatches having the same sort of ticking all with around 2000 miles on the car. Dealer has had my car almost a month now.
