Supposedly there is a hard panel inside the soft top which is why it feels like a hard top and why it's so quiet. Also that gray divider comes out in the trunk to expand storage as long as the top is up.
I’ve already warmed up to the grille! I actually love it way more than I thought initially. I like how BMW is going towards having multiple shapes and sized grilles that are all still undeniably BMW for Audi all of their grilles are all the same on all the cars.
BMW needs this grill nowadays otherwise it would not stand out but look rather average. I love it! It gives it an edge and makes it looks equally as stylish as a merc.
Just for future reference for BMW's, after it says launch control active, hold it a bit longer because it builds boost if you hold it for a second or 2 after it says it is active

Two things. One, I have a 2012 Mercedes E350 convertible. I suspect that the panel that leaves a little space at the floor of the trunk can be moved out of the way to make more room in the trunk - at the expense of being unable to drop the top. That’s how the MB’s trunk works. Also, it is amazing how quiet these convertibles can be at highway speeds with the top up. The lack of noise in the E350 is as remarkable as the BMW’s.
I love the front. It looks tough…. but I just can’t believe they went back to the soft top! I have a 2018 440 with M-sport package and I have loved it. Getting near 40k miles so Ive started looking at newer convertibles but I DONT want a soft top! I had an M3 with a soft top and an Audi S5 with a soft top and they show wear no matter how well you care for them. Also the road noice with a soft top is much worse…. I love my 440 with retractable hard top and I loved my z4 with retractable hard top long ago as well…. Super bummed about this….
That’s weird when I “build” them on the website the only seat color that it lets you do ventilated seats with is black. Either way I always go with the brown… looks by far the best.

Interior looks pretty good. Not over done and packed with gimmicks. Seriously, the hand gestures are the most ridiculous thing. I'm curious if everything is cheap, creaky plastic like it usually is in a BMW. I'd like to see the Gran Coupe version, considering that was the best looking style of the old 4, and I really loved the practicality of the "hatch". I guess none of it matters, since I will never buy another BMW until that grill dies lmao.
Damn, that front plate + the grill is a tough pill to swallow. I'm certain that the aftermarket will come up with tow hook location front plate mounting solutions, but cripes, that OEM placement on the new grill looks like Bugs Bunny went to the budget orthodontist.
The car is actually a great package. B58 has Porsche level of performance, and you can find them in the 50k price range, used. Amazing. If I would be looking for a Convertible it would be at the top of my list.
I own the non convertible M440i I have to say it’s fun the drive and gotten nothing but complements. Then too I also have the green paint on it which sets off the car.
Because that's what this series is meant to be. Especially the M performance ones. That's why it needs to be aggressive. Comparing it a beetle is like comparing it to a 1980 civic. What's the point?

Just received my 2022 M440i convertible and I was somewhat disappointed that my car was missing couple of things and I was wondering if you can help clarify why. 1- why the M440 does NOT have fog lights where as the 430 convertible does? (based on pics) 2- why the M440 convertible does not have gesture control (even though it is listed under the premium package which I have)? Thanks!
The 4 series has more rear seat space. The 8 series is for looks while the 4 series is practical and much cheaper for a similar driving experience. I'd 100% recommend the m440i over an 840i. 8 series really only worth if you get 8 series with a V8.

Key question- is it comfortable? The angled headrests look like they’ll cause cervical spine pain. And does that bulging door storage bin reduce lateral leg room and push against your left leg?

Nooo - Audi does not look better - this thing is beautiful. And I actually don’t like the new curved display, which is why I went with this before it changed. Thanks for the review!
Like most other people are saying, the front end of this car looks terrible and it hasn't grown on me at all. The rest of the styling is great, although I agree that the interior design looks a bit dull and sterile... Ultimately I hope BMW reacts quickly to all of the negative feedback from consumers because it's obvious that their little experiment tinkering with the front grilles has been a complete fail. Emergency-refresh-time.

Man, I love the new grill! Bigger, bolder and distinctively BMW! I have a 1991 Jaguar Sovereign with a nice bold grill and block headlights. I love the look and it stands out from the newer versions. Nice review, but I'm a definite fan of this style. When I see it on the road, it is an eye catcher.

For those people who live in a state that requires a front plate I think the large grille would look a lot better if the plate was lowered to the very bottom of the front of the car. I think it looks terrible smack dab in the middle.

The grille for some reason works better with the convertible to me. And i like the convertible styling over the hard top. I would risk it and take off the front plate and. Replace it with a custom euro style plate with the same info or delete it and or just throw it on the dash. Nice car but pricey.

No biggie it has garbage vernasca leather....its like cheap leather jacket finish, with top layer. Its very durable, and Sensatec is on the doors and dash, like vinyl. There is nothing getting damaged in that interior.

You can get ventilated seats with the Mocha color interior also. I ordered one back in January 2022. It's currently in transit.
