It's nice to see some manufacturers still making coupes/convertibles when the world is going SUV crazy! The M4 looks so good as a convertible and especially in that color.
Great review. I’ve owned M cars for over 20 years, three M5s, an M3 and two M4 Comp Convertibles. My current car is the one in the video, a G83 2022 M4 comp convertible and it is the best car I have ever owned. Bar none. I only went for the M4 instead of an M5 to have a convertible and the overall package is stunning. The driving experience dominates everything, the equipment level and technology is fantastic and I only ever put the roof up if it’s raining; the top down experience in such a fabulous and fast car is perfect.
I drove this exact car last week as a rental and can confirm I had the exact same reaction when I floored it at 2:10. This car sounds unreal and confirms why I will never buy electric unless forced to.
Love that tanzanite blue, probably the best colour i've seen on this car, it hides the hideous nose so well, I like the white interior on that a little more than the orange though. Kumo has great taste!
Have 2k miles on this car, awesome ride. Better, tighter car than my previous 911 C4S with greater range of driving modes. Goes from smooth to beast in a touch of a button. Carbon buckets also add back room in back seats. Best seats ever in a car if you fit, especially on long drives. Bigger drivers might find them too tight. Alpine white or black with all black trim look really helps the overall look. No cowl shake either, even in Sport Plus. My GF has 440i Coupe and I don't feel a difference! Get the wind screen and you won't need the windows up. In and out in 30 secs, must have. Great resale value as well so total cost is better than you think if you buy it.
im really close to getting one. the carbon seats are my big question. they're comfy for long trips? im down in Miami so i think the ventilated seats would be nice for the convertible but the carbon seats are so beautiful. hows it been "1 year later"
As always great review MotoMan, I have been driving BMWs for over 20 years love them, I lease them because of a statement you made after warranty is over it becomes an expensive vehicle to own as far as repair costs. I love the way they drive, still not a fan of the larger grills in the front, some of the options are definitely a value added, some of the others I wouldn’t purchase. The two colors and the interiors really sharp looking, either one I would take! Great review !
Hey Kumo is a dog of taste! The orange seat must bite in his eyes I guess ;) Both are great cars - also what BMW is doing in the EV space is really good - keep em coming!
Hey Mr MM. I must say that you are 1 of a handful of RUclipsrs where I usually watch 80-95% of the video. I have about 100 or so that I have an interest in but really don't watch 50% of them in 1 month. But yours definitely is MUST WATCH video. Thank you for your excellent content, personality, enthusiasm & editing. Sincerely - An AWESOME job to all on the team. TY TY TY!!! Luv that 2 tone orange interior. Those seats probably are not cooled - can you get them with that option? Comp cars - The Porsche 718 isn't a much more expensive vehicle. And what about the offerings from Audi -S5, Benz - C 43 or C63S (When its released) or E 53, Chevy Camero, Ford Mustang, Lexus LC 500. The reason I ask is I'm looking at a drop top and I like to golf. So just enuf trunk space for 1 set of clubs (2nd in the back seats if needed) Also I need climate cooled seats in the front. Cheers!!
@MotoManTV Great review! FYI, an additional point in the color of roof top discussion is that there is a “Moon” option for $250. The result is a silver sheen, almost denim texture finish that looks like a dark silver than black. It would look better on that Brooklyn Gray one than the standard black IMHO.
Question to you dear Mr MM, if you had the choice which would you buy, this BMW M4 xdrive cabrio OR a Porsche 911 cabrio (2 or 4 wheel drive) of a similar price as the BMW which is probably not possible? I would love to have your view 👍🏻
It would be very hard to get an allocation for a Porsche 911 right now. Having said that, have you sat in both cars? I just could not find a comfortable seating position in the M4 or M5. The wide transmission tunnel leads to slightly offset pedals in the BMW and kept pushing my feet towards the left side of the footwell (LHD car). I own a 2022 Cayman GTS 4.0 with perfectly placed pedals and impeccable driving position. Could not get comfortable in the 992 either :)
This brought up an interesting thought, that I buy all of my cars on principle. Can't buy a convertible because it adds weight and has less structural rigidity. Can't buy an AWD car because adds weight and complexity, when it's only needed 2% of the time. Very interesting to hear your thoughts on this convertible xDrive M4.
Question…I keep hearing that carbon ceramic brakes last MUCH longer than steels…if that is true, doesnt that decrease the long term cost of checking that option? If you bypass the cost from replacing steel rotors once or twice that would seem like a substantial chunk of the upfront cost of ceramics, right? Obviously at some point one would replace the ceramic rotors but I have heard that is a really, really long time (and often beyond the lifespan of the car)
as someone who has owned a lot of ceramics and still does, i can say this: Ceramics are only good if you enjoy breaking as much as accelerating. I love it. I can speed onto a corner like a madman, break last minute and turn in. and i can do that all day without worrying about replacing pads. if you like that, they are perfect for you. Ceramics will last longer than your car if they don't get damaged. That being said, if you get a stone or hard debris between the brake pad and the rotor, you can damage them easily. So i dont recommend them if you drive on roads with a lot of debris often, which you shouldn't anyway with this kind of car. Also, in a convertible, they might annoy you because they can be a bit squeaky if driven in town (because they dont' get hot enough there). Also, i really heavy rain, you need to break a bit ever now and then (just tippping them, not real breaking) in order to remove water from them. If you don't you will het a small heart attack once you really need them and they give you the feeling of not gripping at all (which they will, it's just the first tenth of a second). All in all, I always take them if i can.
One of the best things about having a Lexus IS500 is that I might not get ignored at BMW dealerships anymore, so maybe they'll actually let me test drive one of these now. LOL.
I wish that you would hit the gas for us, even if just for ten seconds, but I do like it and appreciate how you allude to these German cars are high maintenance when you say "scared to drive it past the warranty". Too bad Lexus doesn't make cars that can compete with these Ms though - not like I can afford these cars anyways..
Always enjoy your videos. I love the looks of the M4comp convertible. I can’t wait to drive one. For me, I would go for carbon ceramic, and I know this is being spoiled, but the amount of brake dust that comes off those steel rotors is insane! I like a clean car. My M2cs with carbon looks clean even after a 1500 mile road trip. Performance is excellent.. but it just looks clean all the time. For me that is a great perk. I would love to have my wife get this car. Then I would have a complete line up of M cars. And life would be good! Really good. Except the X5M comp…. It has steel breaks! Dirty all the time
Not really sure what you’re on about re after the warranty. I’ve had had many BMWs over the years and just traded my 5 year old 650 and that has zero problems even after being chipped. Prior to that I had the previous gen 650. I bought it 3 years old and ran it for a further 5. Again I had zero problems. My Mrs had a 3 series touring for 5 years and zero problems. I could go on, but BMWs falling apart after their 3 year is up is not true. As for the looks of the car - it looks great. The front is spot on regardless of what the trolls state. I currently have an M850 grand coupe and that’s coming up for 3 years. I have zero fears about its reliability after the warranty has passed.
Happy to hear you have had such good luck but sadly, you are in the significant minority. Wish this were not the case. Most folks I know and those I come across have very different stories to tell.
@@MotoManTV not in my experience with friends who have also had BMWs. They are no diff to Mercedes or Audi. Same can’t be said tho of Range Rover sport and discovery 4 I had. Appalling reliability even before the warranty was up.

I love your presentation, maybe the best with your enthusiasm for fast cars. Those still shots you throw in with your demo drive, are really out of place. I would suggest camera's mounted on the body. TFL guys do that and it looks good.

@@Jack-oz8fs Is the ride really nice when you are relaxed and driving it in comfort mode on good roads? My only concern on this car would be can you make the ride smooth enough for a good daily driver. I also think the standard seats would help on this issue.
As "cool" as those seats are. There should be slightly more comfortable GT style seat at least for the convertible.
